I need sssome lightsssaber training

My character needs some lightsaber training to use a lightsaber, anyone willing I can repay you in a favor or credits.

I notice he's not Force Sensitive. Which can present a challenge.

In canon it says (and I cleaned it up for ease of reading), "'Force Users' were trained to use the Force as a conduit between the wielder and the saber. Through this bond in the Force, the blade became an extension of their being; it moved with instinct as though it were a part of the body. The FUs attunement to the Force accounted for the almost superhuman agility and reflex illustrated in the use of the lightsaber. While technically weightless, the blade still had some resistance to changes in motion. The gyroscopic effects were easily controlled by a trained force user, but would be problematic for a non-FU."

Does that mean you can't learn to use a saber? No. But the level of ability would be a factor given your character is not an FU.

I don't see how learning to use a sword with blade that doesn't weigh anything would be problematic for a NFU. You can still be a master swordsman with a lightsaber it just takes years of training as it does with all things.

It's canon for a reason. And can NFUs learn to use the saber? Of course - canon also shows at least a couple that did.

Why not Corvus?

Primarily because she only knows how to teach someone to use the Lightsaber using the Force - and you need someone to teach you how to use a saber without using the Force. The words I cut and pasted in my opening post are key to how she would teach someone new. If you read the crystal code (at the bottom of the Jedi code page on Wookieepedia) you'll get a further idea of what I mean.

One thing that everyone always forgets as well when thinking of lightsabers is that they're not actually a sword. Lightsabers are just a hilt in one's hand, since the blade technically has no weight at all. It would be an exceedingly weird thing for someone to use...I also suspect that's why canon states that it generally takes a Force User to master lightsaber technique.

Stupid question, but... Would you even be able to use a regular-sized lightsaber? It'd be like holding the tiniest twig ever.

Note: My guy's as tall as yours, I'm planning on using a pair of oversized lightsabers....
