I Has A Friend? What's That? Are They Tasty?

Kari had been living with Nixius on his ship for a week now. He had bought her new clothes, a new patch to cover the scar running over her eyes, and had even tried to teach her a little about swoop racing. She still had nightmares, that often led her to go running to Nixius's room in the middle of the night and begging him to let her sleep there for the rest of the night. The two of them were spending nearly all of their time together, and Kari found that she really missed him when he wasn't around, but she didn't really know why. This train of thought led her to turn to Nixius and tilt her head curiously. "Why do I miss you so much when you aren't around?" [member="Nixius Ikon"]

Nixius looks down at her and smiles petting her hair gently as he tilts his head. "Because we are friends Kira that is why. Do you have any other friends?" Nixius pets her hair and ears gently as he half closes his eyes relaxing as he holds the small ruffer against his side. They were in his room and it was just past midnight she had come running to him after another nightmare so they were sitting up talking for a bit. He was almost tempted to offer moving into the room he had given her so that she could get more rest than she was.

Kari shook her head, yawning softly as she cuddled a little closer to Nixius, her tails curled around them like a blanket. "I've never had a friend before. My parents and I traveled a lot. We were never in one place long enough for me to make friends. People kind of scare me anyway... Most of the experiences I've had with others have been them trying to hurt me or kidnap me... You're different though. You don't wanna hurt me... Why is that?" she asked, trying not to yawn again. The constant nightmares were beginning to wear on her, but she tried to ignore it. She didn't want Nixius to think she was becoming too much of a problem. He might not let her stay if that happened, and she didn't wanna be alone again. [member="Nixius Ikon"]

Nixius smiles at her then leans down picking her up he walks out of his room and down to hers it had a larger bed. He set her down and then crawled into the bed with her petting her hair gently. He pulls the sheet over them and lays back petting her hair and half drifting off as he hums.

Kari blushed when he picked her up and carried her back to her room. She expected him to dump her on the bed and leave, so she gave a small gasp of surprise when he crawled into bed beside her and started petting her hair. She moved a little closer to him, so her head was resting on his chest as he ran his fingers through her hair. Was this what all friendships were like? Kari sincerely hoped not, because this felt way to special to be a common thing between other people. [member="Nixius Ikon"]

Nixius smiles down at her as she nuzzles against him and pets her hair as he drifts off. The next morning rolls around and the young man stretches carefully yawning as he feels the weight of someone laying half on top of him. Opening his eyes he glances down to see a still sleeping Kari almost curled up on his stomach her tails covering them as she slept. Smiling Nixius gently pets her hair as she rests laying back so that she can get some more sleep knowing how tired she had been last night.

Kari finally woke up about and hour later. She blinked her eyes open sleepily, wondering why she was so warm, and, more importantly, why her pillow was moving. She blushed when she realized that her "pillow" was actually Nixius. The little kitsune hurried to sit up and apologized, "I-i-i'm s-sorry! You could have w-w-woken me up!" Her ear and tails visibly drooped as she sat in bed, feeling bad for falling asleep on him and preventing him from being able to get up. [member="Nixius Ikon"]

He smiles and reaches out running his hand through her hair as he shakes his head lightly smiling at her. "It is fine Kari you needed sleep and today is an off day for me so nothing going on." He sits up and runs a hand through his hair as he starts towards the door turning to hold his hand out to her. "Time to eat Kari want to go get some food?" He waits for her a soft smile on his lips as he looks at her.

Kari nods and follows him, grabbing his hand and blushing a bit. "O-okay. I'm not really h-hungry, but I'll go with you," she replied, letting herself be lead through the ship as she held onto his hand. It felt nice whenever he touched her, whether it was to pet her, hold her hand, or pull her up off the ground after she tripped on something. She thought it was kind of sweet how he made sure to always walk on her left side to keep her from bumping into things. [member="Nixius Ikon"]

Nixius smiles and guides her to the table letting her sit down as he goes to get their usual breakfast from the food processor. He walks back over setting his own breakfast pancakes and bacon down before setting a rare nerf steak on the table before her. He takes his seat and starts to eat as he watches her knowing she was hungrier then she let on. "Did you sleep ok Kari?"
