- Helmet electronics and HUD are protected by a miniaturized ionization buffer. This provides only token protection from EMP/Ion attacks. A direct hit with a heavy Ion blaster will almost certainly short it out regardless.
- Minor elemental protection is provided by the bodyglove, which is temperature controlled. This is meant to make Syndicate personnel more comfortable operating in arid or frigid environments. It will not offer any meaningful protection if hit with a flamethrower or a CryoBan grenade.
- [Strength] HSAS Tactical is a dependable, well-rounded suit of medium armor. It offers moderate protection from the hazards you would most expect criminal grunts to be dealing with.
- [Weakness] While it’s good for any occasion, it’s perfect for none. At the end of the day, HSAS Tactical is just medium armor meant to strike a balance between defensibility and agility. As a result, its users are not particularly fast or particularly durable.
HSAS Tactical is medium armor built for the singular purpose of giving the grunts something nice to wear - something that was most likely to keep them alive in as broad a number of situations as possible, all while keeping manufacturing costs from becoming prohibitively expensive. Hiring and training new personnel can be tiresome and time consuming, so rest assured, the Syndicate does have some token interest in keeping its field goons alive.
Tactical consists of two layers: quantum fiber bodyglove and the plating. The bodyglove on its own is not terribly remarkable, though it is temperature controlled to keep wearers comfortable in hot and cold environments. Quantum fiber was interwoven into it to provide extra protection against energy-based weapons, often dissipating some lighter blaster bolts so they result in incapacitation rather than death. On top of the bodyglove goes the armor plating itself, covering the arms, legs, and chest.
The chestplate and helmet are made of two-parts plastoid and one-part duraplast. The arm and leg plates are just regular plastoid. Plastoid serves amicably to reduce damage from blunt force trauma and slugthrowers. The inclusion of duraplast in the chestplate and helmet offers additional protection against energy weapons that strike those areas.
Aside from all that, the armor includes many other features which are considered staples of modern infantry armor. A suitably advanced heads up display features an assortment of vision settings and general sensors. Helmet comlinks are kept segregated to prevent remote tampering and also feature an encryption module to prevent easy eavesdropping. The helmet and bodyglove are, of course, capable of vacuum sealing in order to protect the user against deadly toxins and other environmental hazards. The armor features a large enough reserve supply of oxygen to last the user approximately an hour and thirty minutes. Air filtration is another feature included in the helmet.
HSAS Tactical was designed by the Helix Syndicate, who then licensed out production to Myton Defense. It is most commonly issued to Helix Syndicate Shock Troopers, though Enforcers are sometimes granted the armor if their assignment demands it. Other Helix Syndicate mercenaries are occasionally given the armor to use as they see fit.
