Dark memories haunted this place. Naboo was the origin of his house, but it had been four hundred years since he last seen it; and perhaps it was still not long enough. Corvinus's house been feared and outcast by most of Naboo after Sidious had proclaimed himself the Emperor of the First Galactic Empire. People failed to see the good he had tried to accomplish. Instead they opted to hate everything he was and everyone who was even closely related to him. Perhaps it was not all their fault though, Sidious had been foolish in his rule. Fear had been his only tool to maintain power.
But fear was not an effective weapon for long. If fear was left unchecked, it would breed rebellion by nature. If you trap an dog in a cage and beat him everyday; of course he will eventually bite you back. It was instinct. Nature. You needed more than fear. People need to believe in your cause, hope that everything you do will led them to a better future. They need to be loyal to your every action, but not because of the fear that your mighty stick brings. No, they needed to be loyal because they believe in you. Worship you.
What they should fear is not your stick. What they should fear is the very thought of your stick no longer being there.
Sidious didn't understand this. All Sidious understood was the dogmatic, narrow view of the Sith. Power was not end. It was the means to the end. That is why Corvinus didn't devout himself to the Jedi nor the Sith; their teachings were weak. Those who lived by mystical fairytales about the force were cursed to forever repeat the failings of their predecessors. But Corvinus would not fail.
That was why he was here now with Alica Drey. They were here to secure something for the Empire. Naboo had a power source that was critical to the coming New Order and he suspected that they would be more than willing to bend their knee. That, at least, was the primary reason they were here. In truth, Corvinus was more interested in rediscovering his house. He was the last living member of House Palpatine and he was eager to know what had become of his long lost cousins and nephews he'd never gotten the chance to know. They were all killed more than likely.
He was interested nonetheless and it appeared that this Alicia girl was as well. Corvinus did not know what to make of her, but there was something about her that he had grown quite fond of. He couldn't place a finger on it per se, but it was there.
"Alica, do try to be polite. We Naboo are quite fond of our traditions and I certainly don't want them to think the last of the Noble Palpatine House keeps company with a hooligan" He joked through a dry smile
