Name: House Mereel
Aliit'Buir: Ijaat Akun
Description:
House Mereel was once a large and prosperous House in the Mandalorian culture, with many of it's constituent clans being famed and powerful forces within the Mando'ade in their own right, but still owing blood and allegiance to Mereel. Elite mercenaries, and peerless warriors of honor, they took the concept of warfare and made it an art-form for all to witness. Their style proved that Mandalorians were without a doubt able to be more than 'savages' or 'barbarians' without succumbing to pacifism and complacency.

In the end, with the death of it's arguably most famed leader, the House fell into large disarray, with Jango Fett, the adopted son of House Father Jaster Mereel, largely eschewing the yoke of leadership in return for vengeance and blood money - concepts familiar to each warrior who ever could truly lay claim to a beskar'gam. Most of the Clans tried for a number of decades or longer to keep together, but by the time the True Mandalorian faction and the New Mandalorian political movement had come to an end, so too had the House of Mereel became a dying ember rather than a bright beacon.

As the House drifted, directionless and leaderless, clans that made up the strength and backbone of the large family became decrepit and decayed from within. Though it never devolved into some the acts of piracy and barbarism others gave in to, it certainly lost its way in a large manner. Even with Jango's rise to Manda'lor, and the eventually succession to the title by his clone son Boba, the house had faded to such it did not rise again. By the time of the Gulag Plague, House Mereel was little more than a footnote in the annals of the Mandalorian Histories, of which it was a cornerstone figure once.

In recent years, a former minor Clan of the House Mereel has seen a swift rise, if not in numbers than in prominence and influence. Ijaat Akun, ironically one of the rare few recognized Supercommandos, has stood for years as the last known member of Clan Akun after a brutal Sith raid on the familial homestead. Seeking to uncover why, he has turned up the history of his lineage, and their ties to House Mereel as possible answers, and in doing so has felt a call to do something more than what has been his life thus far. To rebirth the things like the Supercommando Codex, the ancient Canons of Honor, and to bring to the Mandalorian people a way to be feared and yet respected.

In that regards, he has begun to set out to uncover the ancestral home of the House, and begin to rebuild what he sees as something the Mandalorian people desperately need. A force of balance between raw savagery and war of Clan-Fathers like [member="Ember Rekali"] and [member="Darth Vulkan"], and the almost pacifism of certain others. Openly the call has gone out to those he considers friends, allies, or even likely recruits to the cause, and the mission to restore the House has begun in earnest. What comes of this mission remains to be seen, but at the heart of the House beat the Resol'nare and the Supercommando Codex.

Locations:
  • Concord Dawn Fortress(Primary) - A large and sprawling fortress-city in the heart of Mandalorian territory. It employs and houses everyone from members of the House, to allied Clans, to independents and foreigners who work with or for Mereel. Codex Location forthcoming.
  • Keldabe Vicinity Chapter House(Secondary) - Satellite homestead. Not as grand as the main House, but an armored representation of Mereel's primary attributes - war and the Mandalorian way of life. Codex Location forthcoming.
  • Beskar'yaim - Training center, vacation home of sorts, and House armory site. It's odd placement as a dormant volcano in the middle of a tropical paradise style island are strangely fitting for the House Father, and he is more often found here than anywhere else.
  • Yavin IV - Small bolt-hole and rest stop, and sign of friendship between House Mereel and Clan Rekali despite the differences between Ijaat & [member="Ember Rekali"]. Some of the more 'secret' business of the House goes on here. Codex Location forthcoming.
Specialization(s):
  • Beskar-Shaping & Forging
  • War Tactics/Ethics/Philosophy
  • Armed Melee Combat
  • Close Range Weaponry
  • Heavy Armored Combat
  • Ori'ramikade Training
Current Members:
  • Ijaat Akun - Aliit'buir. Good whiskey, a nice blade or pistol, and a fine cigarra are the ways to his heart.
  • [member="Isley Verd"] - Shop monkey. House biatch. Penitent Dar'Manda. Keeps missing that one spot on the floor by the fridge...
  • [member="Marius"] - Teresman. New recruit. Doesn't particularly do so well with the whole 'technology' thing.

For a good idea in general of how House Mereel will operate, I suggest reading up on the following, and their relevant cited sources:

~*THIS IS A CANON CLAN/HOUSE*~

Note: This is an ongoing project since I joined Chaos (nearly) that is just getting started ICly. If you'd like to participate, please feel free to PM me or reply to this thread. As of yet, Ijaat is the only member for good reason. This project is not a 'faction' per se. It will (likely) not ever have it's own Faction Page unless it grows beyond what I expect it to. Not adverse to it, but I believe the focus of this group should still be (primarily) the Mandalorian faction. This is a Mandalorian House, nothing more and nothing less.

If you are head of a Clan, and would like the patronage of House Mereel to join as a Clan connected to it, here is the place to put in the request, or in PM. If you are outright interested in just joining the House itself and not a clan under it (At which time, that is Clan Akun), same deal. There are some loose plans for plotlines and story arcs in place, all pretty lore heavy and centric, but I am holding off on a lot of that to see if anyone joins, and if they have their own ideas we can incorporate. Alternately, if you think we could be a good antagonist to your story.... Open to that too!

So if you want to know how to fight and live like some of the most legendary Mandalorians ever did, now is the time. OYA MANDO!

Krenis would definitely be down for this, especially given his growing concern with the Republic and... close ties to Jango Fett.
