Dancer

The Butcher and the Lamb
Mystique's story ACT I, scene 3

The dancer could feel her world shattering around her. Always, when things looked like they were about to work out and reach a happy ending--she was beaten down once more into the mud, into the mire, into the darkness from where she first came.

She wiped the tears off her face with he flannel long sleeve. She was--homeless now. She had been evicted. They had taken her money and kicked her out. All she had now was the clothes she had gathered and tossed in this bag. Her furniture, her dishes, everything she had worked hard to gather or buy was now lost. She cried again, she was lost. Lost at sea once more. Lost without an anchor, or a bed to sleep in.

She swallowed and shook her head. No, no she wasn't. Not anymore. She knew someone who would always pick her up. Somoene she could trust. She went to a pay comm and dialed in a familiar number.

"S-s---scarlet?" she said tentatively, "C-c-c-ccan you please come pick me up? I-," she dipped her head in shame, more tears flowing from her eyes, "I need you."

"Stay where you are. Go somewhere public and sit down, have a caf, I'll pay when I get there" Scarlet said protectively. She didn't need to know why, or how, her lover needed help, she would be there. She rushed out, gathering equipment and some such items as she went, growling softly. Whoever had made her darling Mystique cry was going to be in hell shortly, a personal hell, and Scarlet was going to be the devil herself.

She ran to the launch pad of her apartment and got in her ship, it was only an hour or two till she would set down near Mystique's location, rushing out hectically to try and find her

Mystique nodded and slowed her breathing. The last thing she needed right now was to pass out. Scarlet was coming. She would be safe. Everything would work out just fine. She whipped her tears away once more and ventured into a caf shop. For an hour she nursed the drink trying not to cry more to no avail.

Then she saw her lovers ship descend not far away. The dancer felt her heart leap in her chest as she stood up and scurried to her, heels clacking on the sidewalk. She threw herself into Scarlets arms and lost herself in the comfort of her beloved lady. A murmur of satisfaction came over her as she felt the terror melting away. Everything would be alright now. She knew it.

"They took everything," she whimpered. "They took everything and they kicked me out. They left me here. I'm homeless. I'm--I'm--I," she felt herself falling into sobs again as she burried her head in the assassins chest. She needed comfort. She needed her Scarlet. She wrapped her arms around her love. She needed her solidarity. Here. Now. "Please don't leave. Please I need you. I need you here."

Scarlet wrapped her arms tightly around her one and only lovely, rubbing little comofrting patterns into her back as she allowed her to calm down. "Shh its okay, i'm here now, its all going to be okay" She murrmurred into her ear as the two pressed together in a firm embrace "I love you darling, It'll all be okay, I'm not going anywhre" She promised as she glanced about. Tossing a few creds onto the cafe table she lifted her up and carried her like the princess she was back to her ships and set her down on the lounge chair, keying in the destination as her apartment's landing pad on coruscant the ship rose and flew off.

Scarlet walked back into the lounge to sit with her girlfriend "It's okay darling, We're going to get you some new clothes, and everything. I'll pay for it all, we're going to move in together, so I can keep you nice and safe. No one is hurting you ever again" She promised as she pulled the redhead into her lap with a soft smile, kissing her forehead

The dancer curled up safe in her woman's arms, safe. Secure. Her tense muscles all relaxed into the gentleness of her murderer girlfriend. She knew she was Scarlet's one weakness, her only thing that could keep her at bay. And she was ok with that. Scarlet was her protector, the only woman she knew would always take care of her. And love her, she was sure.

Her fingers gently grasped at her Scarlet's neck, keeping her close as she snuggled her head in the small of her assasin's neck. She returned the kiss, and felt calm wash over her.

"I-I would like that," she murmured. She knew her Scarlet needed taking care of, and she needed it too in a different way. That was why they were here, together.

The ship finally touched down on world, and she followed her love to the appartment. She shook her head when she saw the Spartan accomdiations. She had been in worse but for her girlfriend, this would never do.

She unzipped her bag and began to empty it, delicately hanging her clothes in the closet and laying them in what she guessed was a dresser. "When we are done here, I am taking you into town," she said with a sense of firmness in her soft airy voice.

Ghost was pale to begin with, She pale more when she heard that threat. Going in to town...Oh gods...Mystique planned to decorate....and by the gods she would try to dress her too wouldn't she? The existential horror!

She simply nodded, best not to anger the redhead or show fear, predaors sensed that.

The apartment itself was luxurious, a pent house, allthough it was as spartan as a spice-hound's den, though less smelly, kept neat and tidy by the slightly ocd assassin, as well as less filled with beer and spice.

It didn't take long for the scarlet dancer to unpack. She didn't have much. And besides that she was used to unpacking from her days traveling as a slave to dancing places. It was a common thing. Satisfied, she closed the dresser and discarded her bag before wrapping her fingers around her love's hand and gingerly leading her out the door. It was pretty clear to her that the assassin was not looking forward to this, but it was for her better. And, Mystique felt, it would bring their relationship closer.

Wrapping her arm around her sweet savior's waist she leaned in on Scarlet and gave a content sigh. It would have been faster to get a speeder, but walking was more romantic. And it gave her more time with her angelic assassin. She hummed a soft tune. Being near Scarlet made her feel life in ways she never had before. It was almost like color was brighter, the air was fresher, and life had purpose like it never had before. It only made sense for there to be more color in their apartment to enjoy together. Yes ,their appartment. Not her's. Not Scarlet's. Their apparment. The idea brought a smile to her face. Their first stop was a home decor store.

Her love by her side, Mystique immersed herself in the vibrant colors and the lovely things. She had never been able to do this before. It was so new, so amazing so wonderful. It made her buzz with excitement. The best part was Scarlet was there to take it in with her.

"Look at these colors," she said dashing away on her toes excitedly to a wall of drapes. She ran her face across their vibrant colors in youthful ecstasy. Her eyes shut. Then they popped open and she scurried away on tip toes to them.

"Scarlet, Scarlet, come here," she cried like a young child, "you have to come here," she implored from the next isle. When the assassin came around the dancer was bouncing with excitement on her toes still. She walked on her toes when she was excited. She held two different silken curtains in her hands, one was a glorious teal, the other a rich auburn color. "Which one, which one for the big window in the master room, we have to have them both, the other one will be in the bedroom. Which one, Scarlet?"

Her energy was as boundless as her excitement. This could quickly become one of the best days of her life.

Scarlet tried to maintain a grim, disapproving visage. She had a reputation to maintain. The reputation in question was one of not existing so the fact she was even here didn't matter all that much but.....

She found herself smiling though despite this, first from her lover's feel when she wrapped an arm around her waist, and then later as she admired all of her enthusiasm. Ghost couldn't remember the last time she herself had been like this, if ever, and it was like getting a second chance in life, living through the beautiful dancer.

She was hesitant originally, but soon found herself getting into the swing of things "I'm leaning toward the auburn but..." She smirked as she leaned closer "Get as much and of as many things as you want. This is your day, enjoy yourself" She kissed her cheek and smiled, loving to watch her enthusiasm at work as the dancer bounced from display to display. Credits, in her line of work, were a non issue

"Thank you, thank you, thank you," she blurted out, bouncing with each worlds.

She seized Scarlet for a moment and gave her a fierce, grateful kiss. Mystique whirled around and scooped up an armful of the teal and auburn drapes in her arm, pressing them to her side. Those not chosen clamored to the ground in a heap while the ecstatic redhead's free hand gripped Scarlet's forearm. Her emotions were boundless as waves of joy flowed off her like a child at an amusement park.

"Rugs we need rugs!" she exclaimed as her heels clacked on the floor through the store.

The female made a bee to them, the more senior customers gave her looks of ire. It wasn't proper for grown women to display such ecstasy. But Mystique didn't notice and if she would have, she wouldn't have cared. She was in heaven; her Scarlet was taking her shopping. It was clear Scarlet loved her so much, it was almost more than her frail body could take.

When she saw the many rugs in their colors and patterns she dropped her curtains in awe. Like a bullet she raced to a rack of them and began rubbing her hands and face on the gorgeous colors and patters, cooing in admiration.

"This one in front of the mantel," she exclaimed pointing at a gold, crimson, teal, and green artistic hearth rug. She swivled around, "Oh, oh, oh, and one of those on either side of the bed," she said referring to a pair long rectangular tan rugs. "So our feet aren't cold in the morning."

She scooped the three in her arms. Together they were as big as she was. Her eyes looked at Scarlet wide with wonder--she hadn't even grabbed the curtains that lay on the ground yet and was helpless to do so. Taking all this home was going to be almost impossible. Plus she by far wasn't even close to finished with shopping. They had to find clothes for sweet sweet Scarlet too.

"I think we're gonna need a speeder," she whispered in a small starstruck voice as her eyes sparkled.

Scarlet was numbly following behind picking up whatever her lover dropped. Money wasn't an issue but, she shuddered at what her apartment would look like after the dancer was done with it. She could see the bright glaring coloures...the cheer...oh god and she was allowing her to selecft her clothing as well, The existential horror!

But seeing her like this, happy, cheery loving every second of life, this was what scarley Lived for, to make her dancer happy. She could only hope it would last, for now they were perfect.

"Here let me help" She smiled and stepped forward, helping her lift some of the comparatively heavy carpets as well "You get us a speeder, the credits are in my back pocket....I'll hold this till you get back okay?" She kissed her cheek before readjusting her grip on the merchandise

The dancer blushed slightly as she pulled the credits from her lover's back pocket. She cast her a backwards glace giving her Scarlet one her giggles ending with a snort. Hair bobbing, she scurried away to the front and grabbed a buggy. Wheeling it around, she charged back to her assassin. She could have easily just waited for Scarlet to put their items in the buggy and work their way to the front. Instead she charged into her and scooped her lover into the buggy, with their new decorations as well. She bent low and kissed her on the forehead, whispering, "I love you."

With a victorious roar of joy she made a sprint to the cash registers that would have won Galactic Olympics. The price tag was enough to make most lay people squeamish. Unfortunately, this dancer had no knowledge of money. She had no idea what that many zeros meant. With a flick of her crimson hair she led the assassin down to the corner where she picked out a sleek bright blue modern luxury speeder. Again she flicked the credits with her wrist and garnered another bill.

"This is fun!" she giggled again as she climbed in the passenger's seat, "Ooooo, that one, over there," she said pointing to a dress boutique down the road. Her arms clasped around Scarlet imploringly, "Pleases, pleases, drive me there it looks so pretty!

With an 'Oooph' The assassin fell into the cart and was wheeled most un-respectably to the checkout. The woman there gave her barely a glance before ringing her up, treating mystique like the actual one paying. She wasn't worried about loosing credits, she was more worried her mystique might have a heart attack with all the excitement going on.

As she saw the store her lover had indicated she smiled and sighed "Anything for you darling, lets go find you something pretty" She said as she slowly set down the speeder and followed the breakneck pace of the dancer into the store.

The inside of the store was filled with clothing and accessories, ranging from expensive to mind boggling in their price range, and diversity

The dancer began rushing through the isles leading her beloved. Oh! Oh! Oh! The colors! The colors were so vibrant, she couldn't stop herself. Blouse after blouse of vibrant colors she tossed backwards onto Scarlet. Mint green, mauve, lavender, peach, earthy green, and sweet yellow. The fabrics were silk, cashmere, periwinkle, and lace. Girly, soft fabrics that felt as good on the skin as they did on the eyes.

She grabbed a few colorful skirts of patters; plaid, foxtooth, and a pair of two colorful solid ones. She grabbed a pair of bright colored shorty shorts that would barely cover her essential parts and then many stone washed sky blue and cyan blue skinny jeans. When she was satisfied, the stack was an easy four feet tall. With this in Scarlet's arms she pushed the assasin into the changing room.

"Try some on, try some on," she insisted, "I want you to look oh so pretty for me. I want to make you feel good, and happy about yourself," she said as she closed the door before adding, 'Dont come out until you've shown me something new!"

She had been careful to pick nothing black or grey. Her beloved needed to know she was pretty in other colors too. That was important to her.

Scarlet set down the stack of clothing on the chair in the changing room, looking down at it with trepidation. She considered her current clothing, black on black on grey on black. It suited her just fine she though...Did her lover have to pick things so...Garish? She wondered to herself as she eyed the pile

There was now way out of this, she was trapped. She could stay in here and starve to death, or go out and face the guns and glares of the enemy. Her only option was to surrender peacefully, and avoid further loss of life.

With a shudder she slowly undressed, feeling quite voulnerable all of the sudden. She glanced about to make sure no one was watching as she put on the dreaded clothing. A pair of skinny jeans that hugged her assets a bit too tightly for her liking, as well as a fiercely scarlet blouse. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, before stepping out barefoot to meet her besieger

Her eyes widened in surprise as her beautiful Scarlet walked out. Why she--she--

"Your perfect," she breathed out, mesmerized.

Her wide cyan eyes took in every inch of the beloved sniper's body in the beautiful colors. Yes, she was so pretty, and the colors really did bring out her eyes and her natural beauty. It was like an eye-candy for the dancer. She crossed her legs and leaned back on the wall behind her. For some reason she was stunned into silence and shy all of the sudden. Yes, shy. She bowed her head and let the crimson curls hide her face. There was no reason for someone as pretty as Scarlet, someone so good and kind to be with her.

Yes, her lover had a few rough edges. Yes, she had a few issues, but everyone did. And she was good, and kind, and compassionate. Of course the sniper didn't show it on the outside, but it was there. Mystique had seen it, she had experienced it. There were only two things she could think to give her Scarlet in return love--and her trust.

The dancer took a halting step forward and leaned in toward the assassin's ear.

"Elissah," she whispered, "Elissah Crystal."

The dancer pulled back so the assasin could see her shining blue eyes, "That is my name. No one knows but you. I haven't told anyone that in many many years."
