House Call

Cloud City, Bespin
A strange calm had taken hold of the planet. The attack by the Imperial scavengers had been repulsed. The acting Baron Administrator, Liedol Botagg, had taken responsibility for the victory and his once weak position was now secured. Any doubts that he was not the right man for the job had been silenced. Despite his jittery and strange disposition, Botagg was a respected leader.

This was good news for Samka Derith, the woman who held his strings.

To rule from the shadows was not her original intent. She failed to see the appeal of such power, it seemed more like needless responsibility, but the girl felt she owed her homeworld this much at least. Guidance in the most trying of times. Bespin would flourish. It would not be allowed to return to the selfish hands of the hyper-capitalists who stole its resources for their own profit nor would she allow it to fall under threat from pirates, rogues or other undesirable elements. Instead she would ensure it followed the lessons of true Imperial rule. It would be a continuation of the First Order in all but name. The guilds were being gradually undermined, the freedom of the press constrained once more and the Bespin Wing Guard's powers swelled to resemble that of the First Order's various police forces.

Because that was how they'd prosper.

For today though, leisure time at home. Reports on Cloud City's food scarcities were scattered across her kitchen table. She'd seen the situation but also seen the Government's intended solution which seemed sensible enough to her. There was no need to micromanage everything, only a light touch here and there to ensure they headed in the correct direction. As a result, the Ren was free to work on her music.

She'd never say that she was pleased with Seiger's fate and the collapse of the Order but with it had come more free time than she'd had in her life. At first it had been daunting but time had taught her how to relax. Just a little. It still itched at her to be 'productive'. To be out there, scheming or fighting for the Imperial values held dear but to take something for herself for the first time ever... was that so selfish?

Putting those thoughts to one side, Samka picked up her small violin and bow then immersed herself in her own play. Eyes closed, senses tuned into the most sensitive of vibrations. Unaware of the others coming to speak with her.
