Description: The “Hound” FSU is the latest additional to the massive Techno Union arsenal of military hardware. Standard Clankers carry a range of weapons, but often lack heavy fire support roles. The Hound is an attempt to address this with a modular droid able to supplement any squad with a significant boost of firepower.

The droid walks of four legs, but is relatively slow, only able to reach the equivalent of jogging speeds. It has excellent situational awareness, with visual, infrared, sonar sensors and a lifeform scanner. Linked into the battlefield network, it can receive targeting and prioritisation information from all levels instantly. The means fire support can be called by units with remarkable efficiency. A status of all support units is available to all fighting droids in contact, who have the processing power to call in and direct aid even when firing their weapons. The battlefield network will analyse targets by threat rating and priority and assign them to support units.

The droid has two small multi-function arms that are usually folded out of sight. A simple repulsor sled can be programmed to follow the Hound and bring it extra power cells or munitions, which is generally required for the mortar variant for continued operations. The Hound is relatively vulnerable if overrun or flanked. It is able to deploy a small personal energy shield, but only in a forwards arc. This shield is able to take a medium amount of damage from light arms. The droid’s brains and weaponry systems have extensive electromagnetic shielding in the form of wire meshes. However, the legs are not protected and comms systems – by definition – cannot be protected. A strong EM pulse will knock out its comms systems for a few seconds, and may permanently disable its mobility. It captured, the droid will immediately purge its memory, leaving it inoperable and preventing the enemy from slicing into secure comms or accessing its programming.

VARIANTS
Mortar:
The Mortar variety comes with a pair of remotes attached to it. These are able to fly into the air, and feedback information on wind, terrain and targets.
Range: 100 – 5500m
Accuracy: 20m
Rate of Fire: 20RPM
Santhe LIS Smoke Rounds – to create an effective cover screen
High Explosive Rounds – useful against both light armour and infantry
Illumination rounds – to light up the battlefield
Missiles:
Range: 50 – 2000m
Accuracy 0.2m
Rate of Fire: 7RPM (18 missiles within 30s, then 120s reload)
Utilising technology previous seen on the terrifying Discord missiles of the CIS, the Hound carries a series of missiles suitable for both ground-to-air and for attacking armoured targets. However, the missiles have limited use against infantry, and after firing it’s batch of eighteen, it takes the droid over two minutes to reload. These make this ordnance significantly more costly, and less effective for a constant bombardment than the mortar variant. It would take nearly a full batch of missiles to seriously damage a main battle tank or heavy Starfighter, however they can be guided with extreme precision.
Each missile can either track to specific co-ordinates, follow something emitting a signal such as a long range transmitted, follow a target being lased, or the heat signature of a starfigher.
Rail Gun
Range: 0 – 2000m
Accuracy: extreme
Rate of Fire: 4RPM
The rail variety focussed on doing kinetic energy damage to a target. A heavy tungsten core round is fired with extreme velocity at a target. This is immensely useful against heavy armour targets. It’s slow to track and can only fire in arcs to the reverse or front. Given the position of the legs, firing to the side would knock the Hound over.
It uses a precise tracking and slewing mechanism that can move by less than 0.1 mil increments to give it exceptional accuracy. The weapon is capable of threatening main battle tanks with repeated fire, or targeting weak spots. Even with the strongest armour, the force of impact alone is liable to do serious damage to a humanoid and unconsciousness is likely. Lightly armoured vehicles are liable to be penetrated with each round. It cannot track quickly enough to hit airborne targets, other than perhaps a stationary gunship.
Repeater
Range: 0 – 1000m
Accuracy: Medium
Rate of Fire: 800 cyclical, 400 sustained.
Typical heavy repeater. Able to put down significant suppressing fire, and annihilate squads of soldiers caught in the open. Very effective against most medium personal armours. Unlikely to threaten armour.

An engineer or appropriate droid can swap the weaponry out on these droids. However, this requires a workshop and approximately one hour. Unlikely to be achievable in the field in most conditions.
