"Everything I tell you is a lie. Every question I ask is a trick. You will find no truth in me."

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:Strong in the Force
Six arms means good reflexes; also good for playing sports, slight of hand, and tickling
Very good at close-quarters combat
Fangs contain a fast-acting toxin that paralyzes, then shuts down respiratory system and stops the heart
Questionable social skills
No impulse control
Dangerously unstable. Not in a "doesn't follow orders well" kind of way, but in a "Alderaan was a good start" kind of way.

Prejudiced against Humans
Weakness for raw meat
APPEARANCE:
Hortex looks like a bipedal spider, with two legs and six arms. He can't spin a web (any size), but still.
BIOGRAPHY:
Hortex was born in the in-between of hyperspace and Otherspace due to the hyperdrive of the Brightest Star, an Indulgent-class luxury liner his parents were serving on, being hit by pirates. In the end the ship returned to realspace with 42 survivors (out of the 3,274 aboard). Some say Hortex's brain was warped by the birthing experience, coming into being as he did between realities.
Hortex showed an aptitude for the Force from an early age, but also claimed to speak with ghosts, demons, and "people from over there." Thanks to a generous settlement from the Mon Calimari production company, Vannen and Optimeye were able to raise their son with private tutors and keep him away from a judgemental public.
When Hortex was six the family was approached by representative of the Jedi Order, who took the youngling with them, promising to not only train him but to do all they could to help with his instability issues. By age 12 they had realized that though he was becoming quite adept, they were unable to keep him focused on specific tasks or prevent him from flying into a fury if the "voices" told him to.
Hortex slipped away from the training grounds late one night and wasn't seen again.
It was an easy thing to get hired aboard a freighter, and Hortex took to the work quickly. He found that if he cold just keep himself active, he could ignore the Force ghosts that intruded on his day, and he could fall into an exhausted sleep at night, untroubled by those in the Otherspace who wanted him to bring them over.
Now, at age 22, Hortex has found himself without a ship and without a job, as it turns out he was working for a medium-strength criminal cartel the whole time, who ran afoul of a much larger concern, and were wiped out to a man. The Harch himself was only able to escape due to his six arms, great speed, and strength in the Force, which his attackers had not been expecting.
In a sort of ghastly simplicity, we remove the organ and demand
the function. We make men without chests and expect of them
virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find
traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.
-- C.S. Lewis
