Hill 210
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATIONIntent: To establish Hill 210 as a hardened flak battery and entrenched defensive outpost supporting Fort Avarice, designed to provide airspace denial and artillery coverage over Morrigal's volcanic approaches. Its purpose is to flesh out Darth Virelia's war infrastructure and give tactical context to ongoing campaigns in the region.

SETTING INFOMATION:
Military Base Name: Hill 210
Classification:Entrenched Flak Battery / Forward Defense Redoubt
Location: Morrigal
Affiliation: Darth Virelia
Population: Moderate
Comprised of Army, Auxiliary and Command personnel.
Demographics:
Primarily human, with notable inclusion of Mirialans, Devaronians, Zabrak, and the rare Sith Pureblood. Personnel selected for loyalty, adaptability, and psychological resilience.
Accessibility:
Hill 210 is perched atop a steep escarpment north of Fort Avarice, accessible only via a winding, narrow track or subterranean service tunnel. The entire hill is surrounded by natural basaltic outcroppings, toxic gas plumes, and reinforced minefields. It cannot be approached from the air without triggering flak response. Only authorized military units are permitted entry, and all access points are kill zones watched by overlapping fire arcs.
Description:
Hill 210 is a scarred ridge crowned with anti-aircraft guns, bunkers, trenches, and buried power conduits. Its silhouette is jagged and unwelcoming, the terrain seemingly erupting with durasteel and gun barrels. From its upper trench lines, one can see the outer towers of Fort Avarice shrouded in volcanic smoke, and the no-man's-land below littered with scorched wreckage. The hill houses multiple independent flak nests, manually aimed and force-field shielded, as well as repeater emplacements, sniper blinds, and deep-dug communication bunkers. Beneath the surface are cramped barracks, ammunition holds, and medical alcoves stained with the dust of Morrigal.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The Spine-Line:
Hill 210's main defensive trench, running along the upper crest, reinforced with durasteel and obsidian culverts. It houses the primary anti-air flak cannons—multi-barreled autocannons linked to proximity sensors and fire prediction arrays. Manual override panels are enchanted with minor Sith sigils to resist slicing.
The Fire Cages:
Designated artillery pits dug into the western slope, holding short-range plasma mortars and high-yield disruptor launchers. These fire in staggered barrages during assaults, meant to break advancing infantry and soft armor. Each pit is self-contained and can be sealed during bombardment.
Observation Post Ardent:
A narrow lookout perch dug into a vertical cliff face via sealed access tunnel. It offers full sightlines over the Fort Avarice valley, including enemy approach vectors and artillery angles. Staffed by two Sith-trained artillery spotters with limited precognitive insight, the post feeds directly to central fire control.
The Blood Troughs:
Name given to the muddy kill zones between trench lines and outer minefields. Razor wire, spiked barricades, and partially buried turrets line the area. Some sections have flame venting traps rigged beneath shallow ash layers, designed to immolate advancing troops.
Redoubt Zero:
The buried command center of Hill 210, hidden beneath the southern ridge. Accessible only via coded blast hatch and armored personnel elevator. It holds encrypted comms gear, backup power generators, and Virelia's override control for total hill-wide lockdown. A single Sith altar is embedded in the rock—small, cold, and crude, yet crackling with residual Dark Side energy.
SECURITY
Security Rating: Heavy
Security Assets Include:
- 8 Flak Cannon Emplacements (quad-barreled, auto-tracking, magnetically shielded)
- 6 Plasma Mortars in recessed artillery pits
- 14 Repeating Blaster Turrets with thermoptic targeting
- Buried landmine fields (conventional + pressure-triggered flame traps)
- Motion sensors and seismic monitors buried along approach routes
- Low-power energy shielding over critical trenches and ammo stores
- Camouflaged sniper roosts with encrypted uplinks
- Signal-jamming tower to disrupt enemy targeting drones
- 2 Sith-trained observation officers with limited battle precognition
- Automated distress trigger linked to Fort Avarice lockdown system
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Hill 210 predates Fort Avarice by mere days—its construction was among the first actions Darth Virelia ordered upon landing on Morrigal. Recognizing the natural high ground as a key to controlling the valley below, she deployed a specialized engineering team and trench warfare corps to entrench the site under extreme pressure and threat of collapse.
Early attempts to bombard the ridge failed due to the natural basalt formations acting as thermal dispersers. When the first flak batteries came online, they began shooting down dropships before they could breach the skies above the Fort's northern quadrant. It became a symbol of inevitability—a jagged crown over the battlefield below.
Hill 210 remains one of the most unyielding positions on Morrigal.
