Here there be dragons

Moving through a Form II pattern, Amaethon's mind was elsewhere. [member="Mordecai Zambrano"] had been the one to accept his request to spar. That was certainly unexpected. He had been sure of another Acolyte or a rather bored Knight.

He went over what he knew of the Sith Lord. Darth Vornskr's sibling, apparently living in the very long shadow cast by his brother. Yet he held the power and knowledge of a Master. He was also said to be very strong in Djem So.

That was about the sum of his knowledge. Except for stories of riding an Arkanian dragon into battle....

Sun glinted over the massive walls of the sparring arena of the Sith academy. While it was midday, the clouds hung high and their sheer bulk blocked out most of the sun's rays to mere specks that lit the dusty fields of battle. Though the winds grew heavier in their gusts, there was one thing they could not even waver: Mordecai and Rhaegos.

The flying reptile gave a groan of anticipation beneath his saddle, wriggling his wings a little to shake off the shivers. "Easy boy, just a milk run." A gauntlet ran across his thick, black hide with something akin to love and affection. The black dragon widened its wings with a roar and descended upon the sparring grounds with gusto, his sun-hued eyes glinting with satisfaction as several other acolytes dispersed with startled looks and cries.

Mordecai dismounted, tearing his sword from its sheathe.

"Where is he?"

The Acolyte noticed the others scatter from not far away and decided that was probably the Sith Lord arriving. He walked quickly and arrived at the other side of the training grounds. Yes, the dragon's landing had prompted the stampede.

Amaethon had to admit that the dragon was fearsome, an effective tool to spread panic. He noted the metal blade, no doubt infused with Sith Alchemy and Magics. So that rumour was true.

He stood on the opposite end of the courtyard and unhooked his saber. He activated his red blade and turned the traditional Makashi salute into a bow.
