OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Heralds of Dread
  • Affiliation: Darth Nefaron Darth Nefaron
  • Classification: Skirmishers/Raiders
  • Description: At the head of all Corpse Legion operations, the Heralds descend from the sky and harass enemy positions as well as acting as scouts for the Legion. On worlds without heavy defenses, packs of Heralds descend to terrorize the population.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Medium
  • Unit Availability: Common
  • Unit Experience: Recruit
  • SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT:
  • Combat Function: Acting as Legion Skirmishers, Heralds often fly ahead of the main force to test enemy positions and lure enemies into traps. They are also excellent at ambushing smaller units that are unsupported by armor or a force user.
  • Force Abilities (Force User Units Only): None
Strengths:
  • End of Worlds: As if leaping out of ancient tales of demons and creatures of darkness, the Heralds signal the end of civilization. Untrained units are likely to break when the Heralds descend from the sky, and trained units will have a difficult time trying to cut them down and avoiding blaster fire in return.
  • Pack Hunters: Unlike other beasts within the Legion, the Heralds are intelligent enough to work together, often forming large packs to take down groups of targets and isolate enemy positions.
  • Taken: Creatures of Nefaron's Gene Labs, the Heralds are those unfortunate enough to be captured by the Corpse Legion and prove to be too weak to work as slaves or join the Legion's ranks. Some maintain enough of their previous lives to call out to family members and lure them into traps.
Weaknesses:
  • Brittle: Though fast and agile, the process of creating Heralds renders them rather weak. Without support, it is likely a single Herald will not be able to defeat a conscript, let alone a true soldier.
  • Eyes of the Damned: While equipped with blasters, Heralds are not accurate at range. They will need to get close to actually hit their shots.
  • Short Lives: Heralds are not designed to survive multiple battles, at the alterations made to their bodies degrade them over time. Most will never see a full year, let alone a few months.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
As Darth Nefaron expands his Empire of Dread, countless thousands are taken into his service. Many are inducted into the Corpse Legion or serve as slaves on Anoat, but the Corpse Lord found little use for those too old, broken down, or weak who were unfortunate enough to be taken by his forces. These souls were often caged and allowed to rot away, but soon enough, Nefaon began to pluck individuals for testing in his laboratory. Months of labor and failed alterations to the subject's genetic code had nearly discouraged the Corpse Lord, but soon he had created new life from the flesh of those he would have discarded otherwise.

Demons from an ancient time now take flight from the depths of Anoat, armor fused to their flesh as they hunt for anything worth killing. While many are little more than monsters, some are unfortunate enough to remember a different time when they were not driven by the will of the Corpse Lord. Yet they cannot resist, for the only way to express their feelings now is through rage and slaughter. While the average Corpse Legionnaire prefers to fight in melee combat, the Heralds are equipped with a vast stock of blasters that have been captured by the Corpse Lord's forces and sent out to harass and isolate enemy units. When faced with particularly well-equipped enemies or a fortress world, the sky will be blackened by Heralds and other beasts in Nefaron's service as they prepare to bring terror and darkness.

They are an extension of their Master. They herald the end of hope in the galaxy.

Chaos appears to be in it's undead horde era, and can I just say I am here for it.

Just a small change that I've noticed.
  • Equipment - NPC units are usable in PvP, as such equipment needs listing and linking. I get you want to go for the scavangers who kill you with your own sides guns, but for the sake of the Codex that doesn't really work. Sorry!
    • Permissions - I'm aware adding equipment will likely mean having to source it, so make sure to add permissions as necessary.
Cheers,
Ghost

Thanks for the heads up, I will work on correcting that shortly!

Two things:
  • As stated previously, the whole scavanging from the enemy doesn't really work for the sake of the codex. The entire equipment section will need to be rewritten to specifically list the equipment used. Apologies if I didn't really make that clear.
  • Permissions need to be linked to a specific thread or image in which the creator of the listed equipment grants permission for you to use their subs, not just a link to the company listing. For the two specific bits of equipment you've linked so far, it's not actually an issue as Darth Strosius Darth Strosius has listed them for Sith Order use and you are indeed Sith Order, therefore no stress. It's moreso for further learning. You can actually remove the link to the company in this specific senario as the permissions are, well, you're in the SO and the equipment is SO specific. Does that make sense? Feel free to drop me a message if you need further clarification around how permissions work.
Cheers,
Ghost

Ah, I see, thank you for the clarification! I have reduced the Equipment section to the weapons that will be available. They won't get anything heavier and are not really smart enough to use anything more basic than a blaster and their claws/talon's so there won't be much more expansion in that regard. I went ahead and also added their armor, it's nothing special, just literal plates of durasteel fused to them, but if you want that to be more specific, I will happily correct that!

Thanks for the correction on Permissions, since it was open to the faction I wasn't 100% certain how permissions worked but I believe I understand now! I will leave the general inforamtion about Sanguine Defense Works for future reference for myself.

If anything else needs to be added, please let me know!
