Intent: To design a labour droid which can be useful in starports, construction areas and in hazardous conditions. This droid is good for moving large weights and reliably (if slowly) hauling. It is not a combat model though, being too slow to combat most enemies.
Development Thread: Dangerous Jade (Summit). Maelion and Callisto meet with [member="Natasi Fortan"] and get droid designs approved.
Manufacturer: Archangel Research & Design
Model: 01011101
Affiliation: Open market, First Order, Archangel Research & Design & closed market to approved buyers only
Modularity: Unit can be made quadrupedal if required.
Production: Mass Produced
Material: Durasteel, standard droid components.
Classification: Class Five
Weight: 1,300kg.
Height: 2.4 metres.
Movement: Usually bipedal. Can be made quadrupedal for better stability.
Armaments:
  • Massive fists and weight.
Misc. Equipment:
  • Communication suite to receive orders from any reception point.
  • Heavy plating to give weight required to not be knocked over by weights.
  • Advanced servos and arms to lift up to 750kg for a prolonged period and up to 1 tonne for short periods.
  • Kill switch command.
Strengths:
  • Strong and Sturdy. Able to lift a large amount of weight without tiring and continue moving such weights until its job is complete.
  • Heavyset. With heavy plating over its frame to distribute weight evenly, this doubles as armour which is resistant to personal firearms. The Helot requires light vehicle or assault weapons to destroy.
Weaknesses:
  • Dumb. The Helot is a straightforward unit. It plods slowly around, performing its assigned tasks dutifully but without flair. It requires orders and to be managed carefully, else it will finish a task and stand waiting for orders.
  • Non-Combat. Though the Helot can deliver massive blows with its fists or crush organics with sheer weight it has no combat programming. If attacked it will usually attempt to carry on with its tasks or stand still and be destroyed.
  • Slow. The Helot plods slowly about its rounds, relentless, but at human walking pace. It is not the model for rapid action.

Description:
In addition to a construction droid, Archangel were contracted to provide a hauler unit for spaceport and supply unloading. The Helot was therefore created with this in mind. The droid is large, slow, heavy and dumb. It is also very strong, tireless, obedient and adaptable.

The Helot can lift up to ¾ of a tonne for long periods of time. This allows it to swiftly unload most items from ships or other vehicles. Several of them work well together to lift even the heaviest items efficiently around. With use of a hoversled or other vehicle it can tirelessly move items from one area to another.

The Helot operates well in a variety of different environments and tasks. Though it works poorly in loose sand, mud or rubble it performs well in heat, cold or in moderately radioactive environments. It is also fearless meaning that it will continue to operate even if under fire until ordered not to.

The Helot is a non-combat unit. It has no combat programming and will not defend itself unless ordered to. Even then its slow speed means that most opponents can easily dodge out of the way. Its heavy plating gives it a strong defence against infantry weapons though it’s little defence against vehicles or lightsabres.

The droid is controlled by a master access code which designates who is the owner and who can therefore give orders to it. Whoever has said access code can designate any number of other people as subordinates. This master access code is protected by advanced 512 bit encryption which would take several centuries for a regular cipher machine to break. However, if the code was stolen or mislaid obviously the droid could be misused. The key is that just like a real key the code is only as safe as the operator who uses it.

Overall the Helot is a solid, dependable workhorse for the rear areas or civilian use. It can be relied on to fulfil its job tirelessly.
