So, how do I start with you guys. Do I create a character for like lowest rank and work up? Or just kind of request somewhere.

Hello and welcome to the First Order!
The answer to your question would be two-fold in this case. You're welcome to take any ranks within the Trainee bracket of the branch of your choosing, and when you've selected your starting rank within the hierarchy, to make it official - that's where you'd make the request in the relevant branch(es) thread.
Once you're done and we've got you sorted, feel free to take a gander at our Faction Thread Tracker to see what threads are active. We do try to keep it up to date as much as possible, so if you find a thread that's to your liking but hasn't been posted to in a while - there's usually a reason. (Most likely the thread's finished, or the thread's been abandoned. Feel free to PM the members and ask them.)
Other than that, if you've got anymore questions - please don't be afraid to ask them. We're all in this together.
