HELLIOD MISSILE LAUNCHER SYSTEM
Intent: Variable Missile Output System
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
Development Thread:
Model: Mk1
Affiliation: ArmaTech Industries
Modularity: Yes
Material: Duraplast, Durasteel, Flex-Tube Launcher components
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Classification: Missile Launcher
Size: Ship Mounted
Length: 20 Meters
Weight: 100 Metric Tons
Ammunition Type:
Effective Range: Standard Naval Engagement Range
Rate of Fire: Equivalent to Capital Grade Warhead Launcher
DESCRIPTION
The Helliod Launcer is built around the same basic principles of an Assault Flex-Tube Warhead Launcher, able to fire variable munitions, and compatible with numerous variants of warheads produced by various companies. Compatible with the vast majority of other Assault Warhead Launchers it requires the same space, power, and is the same size.
The differences are in the Magazine and the Reloading systems. The Helliod has a variable load capacity, using a spacer able to be extended to hold smaller sized warheads as the commander deems necessary. The spacer is collapsed into the sides of the launcher, and are released by simple controls, set to hold one, two, three, or even four Capital Ship Grade Warheads at a time rather than the usual single Assault Grade Warhead. Once loaded, the accelerators expand from the spacer, allowing each warhead to be accelerated independently. This is done so that accuracy and exit trajectories aren't awkward as one would assume using a single accelerator would be.
This is combined with a Fast-Rack Magazine. Loaded with the varying warheads the launcher is required to be able to rapidly load, the Fast-Rack Magazine is able to rapidly cycle to the desired warhead type and size, allowing the rate of fire to remain consistent with single munition-type launchers, though not giving it any advantage over them in that field.
The Helliod provides a commander with a level of versatility, allowing them to use standard Capital Grade Warheads without requiring the ship be refitted or heavily modified with new warhead launchers, and furthermore, allowing the change to happen mid combat. These four warheads are able to target independently, so long as the Targeting computer is capable of enough target locks for all the weapon systems it may be attached to.

Strengths:
- Variable Output: The Helliod Launcher can fire either a single Assault Grade Warhead or four Capital Grade Warheads, fitted with a spacer during reloading.
- Less Output: Rather than firing Five warheads the launcher is rated for, a warhead is sacrificed for a spacer and adjustments from the Flex-Tube accelerator.
- Fast Rack
