Who Are We?
Mandalorians_by_digitalinkrod_zps6b65692c.jpg
"Here's why you can't exterminate us, aruetii. We're not huddled in one place—we span the galaxy. We need no lords or leaders—so you can't destroy our command. We can live without technology—so we can fight with our bare hands. We have no species or bloodline—so we can rebuild our ranks with others who want to join us. We're more than just a people or an army, aruetii. We're a culture. We're an idea. And you can't kill ideas—but we can certainly kill you."
―Mandalore the Destroyer
The Madnalorians are in short, a nomadic warrior culture that spans several millennia. With a strong sense of family and no true home world, they have taken the planet of Mandalore as their adoptive home. One of the oldest factions on SWRP we have a rich culture and member base that continues to grow. Due to the loose In Character organization of the faction, each member is on his or her own to stay active, though participating in dominions, faction threads, and faction development threads is strongly encouraged. We are unique in that, though we have major faction status and have a variety of our own tech, we are all individuals and follow no "code" of what we can and cannot use, nor do we have any restrictions on what we can do. Want to roleplay a vicious bounty hunter that works with the Sith? Go ahead. Maybe you want to roleplay as an entrepreneur? Co wild. As long as you stay active and follow the Madnalorian Resol'nare you're with us.

"Organization"

You can't rule Mandalorians. You just make sensible suggestions they want to follow. And since when have Mandalorians needed to be told what makes sense?"
―Boba Fett

Law of the Clans:
The Mandalorians have no such thing as a centralized government. The closest thing they have to a "meeting room" is MandalMotors tower, though this is rarely used for such a purpose as the easiest and most common place to have a meeting of importance is the Oyubaat Tapcaf in Keldabe. It is here, more often than not that the clans who push the Mandalorians forward meet and decide the small details when needed. The Mand'alor though, has final say in all matters involving the clans and the people, but things generally come to some sort of consensus.

Within the faction there are several clans all with different clan heads and different specialties generally. If you are interested all you need to do is ask.

As Mercenaries and Soldiers:
At one point or another, many of the Galaxy's strongest warriors took the name of Mandalorian. They are a culture of warriors that often sell their fighting prowess out to the highest bidder. This allows for great flexibility and opportunity, allowing the player to travel the galaxy and fight for who ever they want, with who ever they want and against whomever they want. The flip side of this is the Mandalorian Reserve, those men and women who decide to stay and become part of the Mandalorian's standing military. These men and women have become known as the Protectors, taking the name from the Mandalorian Protectors of Concord Dawn, and patrol the stars of Mandalorian Space. They also ship food to those planets in Mandalorian space ravaged by the Gulag Plague or some other war, train militias that improve the overall security of the planets within Mandalorian space, and are the primary law enforcement, though these laws are generally different from planet to plane as there is no true central government within the faction.
  • Mercenaries: Go wild, crazy, explore the Galaxy and fight for your livelihood.
  • Mandalorian Protectors: The standing military force of the Mandalorians, providing aid, training, and security throughout Mandalorian Space
  • Ori'ramikad: The cream of the crop, hand picked by he Mand'alor him or herself, these soldiers can be taken from any walk of life and are given special training and report directly to the Mand'alor and his Field Marshals
Despite the fact that the Mandalorians have a standing military, during war times rank is something that is earned through respect and experience and is also very loose and lax. Ranks in the war time military are as follows:
  • Initiate: These are the Mandalorians who are either new or have yet to prove themselves worthy of command
  • Rally Master: Battle tested and strong leaders, Rally masters out rank Initiates and most military personnel, taking command whenever necessary. It is not uncommon for a Mercenary who has never served with the Protectors to be a Rally Master
  • Field Marshal: These men and women out rank every military rank. This rank is special in that, similar to the Ori'ramikad, they are hand picked by the current Mand'alor and are under only him on the battle field, sometimes out ranking even Clan Chieftains

The Force and You:
Generally most Force traditions are looked on by Mandalorians with an amount of distrust and sceptisism, however there have been several Force using Mandalorians, all looked at with some sort of respect and treated as equals in society. With the Witches of Dathomir under the influence of the Mandalorians, this allows spectacular opportunities in Force training. Generally the Mandalorians who do wield the Force see it as a tool and because of their aggressive nature in combat often find themselves along the neutral or "dark jedi" persuasion, though generally any Force tradition is allowed.
  • Jedi Sided FU: Uncommon as the Mandalorians' feelings on war, battle, and the use of one's emotions in battle and relative distrust of them make Jedi a hard sell in the Mandalorian culture.
  • Neutral/"Dark" FU: The most common FU within the faction, these practitioners of the Force see it as a tool and not a religion like the Jedi or Sith. Often treated with the most respect. After all, the Mandalorians don't discriminate against other races, why should they against someone simply using a tool they were born with?
  • Sith FU: The Mandalorians have been fighting the "Sith" nearly since the end of the Gulage Plague with their war finally ending. The Sith are looked at with the most malice, though its hard to tell you all apart. Follow the laws and you'll be fine.
The Mandalorians are often seen as a loose group of ruthless warriors who fight and live for nothing more than credits. While this is partially true, there is more to a Mandalorian than fighting and mercenary work. They have clans and tight-nit communities that are the most important things in their lives.

Why make a Mandalorian?
officers-1.png

There are several different major factions on this board, and they all cater to different personalities, codes, ethics, themes, and plots. Each one is diverse and unique in its own right, and they are rather well stocked with a fairly consistent influx of writers. However, the Mandalorians have a few qualities that I personally find unique, and are reasons why you should make a Mandalorian.

  • Diversity: Mandalorians are extremely diverse. They have no class, race, or gender affiliations. They are neither good guys, or bad guys, yet they can be both. Their culture spans as far back as 4,000 bby, and some of the toughest and most notable warriors in the history of the Galaxy have been Mandalorians at some point or another. They are known from every corner of the Galaxy, and as much as they may seem similar, every single one is completely unique.
  • Family: The Mandalorians are a family of brothers and sisters. You can be either born into the culture, or be adopted into it. Every Mando is a brother or sister of the rest, and are treated as equals, from the smallest child, to the eldest patriarch, they are vod.
  • Honor: There is a great sense of honor in being a Mandalorian. Even the smugglers, bounty hunters, and assassins are honor bound in some fashion or another. They may be ruthless killing machines, or grizzled engineers, but they all have honor. It separates us, makes us renowned for a code of honor that we carry with us till our death. The Mandalorian honor is not so different from Norse mythology or that of a Viking mentality. The Manda is their goal, that Valhalla like state that spurred on the Celts of old. The Mandalorians eat, fight, live, and die with honor.
  • Language: Many languages exist in the Galaxy, and most are native tongues for various species, or a culmination of languages to make it easier to understand. The Mandalorians have a unique language that is culture based and has been taught to countless people, and used in countless worlds. Mando'a can be spoken with family, with vod and vode alike, and understood by those who, like you, have become Mandalorians.
  • Allegiance: Mandalorians are the one faction on this board that is unique in that you can be a Mandalorian and be in any other faction that you choose to. While you can belong to only the Mandalorian faction, you can also be a Mando and be in the Empire, the Republic, the Omega Protectorate..and so forth. A Mando is a Mando, and unless you completely disregard the call of the Mand'alor, and fight against the vode, then you are always a Mando.

So come, join the vode! Make a Mandalorian today and report for duty! Follow the link below for the Mandalorian's Faction Homepage, and learn the way of the Mandos! Oya Vod!
