Description: Heartbeat House is a medium sized dance studio located in the urban center of Lianna City, Lianna. The floor is made of solid, polished wood covered with several layers of vinyl to provide the ideal surface for dancing. The studio area is brightly lit, and the front wall is covered nearly entirely in mirrors for the dancers to use during practice. There are several large windows situated in the right wall, allowing one to look down at the city streets below. The area of the studio measures out to be roughly 190 m2 (2045 ft2) and can comfortably fit up to twelve dancers and an instructor. There are also two dressing rooms located in the back corners of the room near the entrance.
The studio basement is outfitted with modern plumbing and is sectioned off into six rooms. One room is a small kitchen, another is a refresher, and the remaining four serve as dormitories. These structures were already in place when the building was purchased and have been furnished and updated with the basic necessities by Joza. Each dormitory has two bunk beds and two dressers, with a total of four bodies being able to comfortably fit in each room.
History: Heartbeat House started as a small dance studio in Lianna City, but quickly became fairly popular. In order to increase her class sizes, Joza purchased a building in downtown Lianna City and refurbished as a dance studio, now able to hold twice its previous capacity for dancers.
In addition to being a dance studio, Heartbeat House now also functions as a makeshift safe house for runaway and escaped slaves. The idea occurred to Joza after she aided in the rescue of a young Twi’lek dancer who was to be sold as a slave, Amirah. Joza offered Amirah a paid position as a Heartbeat House dancer, but upon learning that the Twi’lek had nowhere else to go, allowed her to stay in the studio until she got back onto her feet. Now that she has more space and a place to fit the wayward souls, Joza works privately with her own contacts to shelter ex-slaves with nowhere else to go. In exchange, they work as dancers, housekeepers and security for her until they reunite with their families or earn enough to establish themselves elsewhere, should they wish to.
Intent: To create a larger space for Heartbeat House dancers to practice in order to keep up with demands, and to create a safe area for escaped slaves.
