I honestly had no idea where to put this, but thought an area dedicated to the military would be the best place.
I have an idea for a Dedicated Carrier, but have no idea what I'm doing, so I need some help.
This is what I've got so far:

Description: The Harbinger-class carrier is a Dedicated carrier used by The Galactic Republic military for the transportation of large numbers of troops, vehicles, and fighters. The ship has a cargo capacity of 20,000 tons, requires a crew of 7,000, has enough consumables for 2 years, and can carry 2,500 passengers. The ship is equipped with plasma shields, 3 tractor beams, 3 heavy launchers, 50 turbolasers, and 50 point defense ion cannons.

Intent: Movement of large amounts of troops or fighters (2500 troops + 12 assault vehicles)

Anything that needs to be tweaked, tell me. Main problem is that it requires a development thread, an I have no idea how to do that.

Squadron count would probably have to be lowered somewhat since average for this size is 10. There is some reduced weaponry compared to the standard carrier, which could maybe bump it up a little bit (like 11 or 12 squadrons) depending on who judges this.

Depending on how many troops you're looking to move, this might require more development. The Endurance-class that it used as a baseline reference could only carry 1600 troops and even the Venator-class Star Destroyer could only around 2000 (but with vehicles as well). If you're looking for something on the order of the Acclamator assault ship, it will probably require more development or tradeoffs elsewhere (like in armament or squadron count).

I would talk to [member="Willam Forlon"], the current Republic Supreme Commander, about including using it one of the campaign missions. If the mission is designed right, it could count for this carrier's development.

Alternatively, you could make a post in the Looking for a group where you might be able to find people looking for a starship skirmish, which could then be used as a development thread for the carrier. I would make certain that anyone participating in the skirmish knew that the ship was under development.

this is ok if you had 9ish squadrons. Also since it is a carrier I would suggest shifting some of those turbolasers to defensive weapons. for 12 squadrons you would need development. Or alot fewer weapons. A Venator was terrible at ship to ship as most carriers are and should be.

this is just about right since this is not max sized.

If you are just set on 12 Squadrons I would say on top of the 10 posts for the ship's size you would need 20 more posts and a considerable amount of weapon reduction.

To get this through and have a good balanced ship I would stick to 9 squadrons. cut the turbolasers in half and throw more defense weapons on it.

If you like The Directorate Offers design Consultation. We can design and build the prototype for you. This basically requires an In Character contract thread with one of our companies. It can be used for your ships required size dev posts. and aids us by counting as a contract thread for us.

Hey Reen! If you need help developing this ship let me know! The Senate and Senators could easily assist with this as a roleplay.
In fact I believe [member="Suravi Teigra"] and [member="Gael bar Ammon"] along with a few others would welcome testing this ship out.

We can approach this development thread from several different angles.

We could hold a committee meeting on it (probably 15 posts at most) as the first phase of the thread likely involving a lot of questions as proposed aspects of the vessel.
Then phase two, move into a demonstration thread (I hate tediously going over construction details as story posts...) to max out the remaining 25 posts likely needed to meet this goal.
Maybe even a finalizing phase of perhaps once again visiting the senate for a light five to ten posts on approving a budget and subsequently contracting the job out to a company or conglomerate (such as the Directorate for example) and bam we could hit fifty posts! With everyone winning!

I've made some changes, is that any better than what I put previously? As for how it's to be made (development thread), I'll go with whichever the three of you believe would work best

In terms of weapons now, this can probably be brought up if the squadrons is 10 (which is baseline). Alternatively, with these low weapons, it could probably carry more than 2000 men. But it does look good to me.

For reference, the baseline carrier's weapons
