The Harbinger-class Cruiser, more commonly known as the Harbinger-class Star Destroyer, was a warship conceived for planetary defense, planetary assault, troop transport, and ship-to-ship combat. It was designed by Iron Wrath Industries, and produced by the Iron Empire. It saw use as part of the Iron Imperial Navy, routinely serving the role of a Command Vessel for smaller fleets.
Expected to be deployed across a variety of combat scenarios, the Harbinger-class Cruiser was outfitted with a diverse range of offensive weaponry. Primarily intended for ship-to-ship combat, the Harbinger featured: 10 Long Range Turbolaser Batteries, 10 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries, 20 Turbolaser Batteries, 20 Ion Batteries, and 20 General Purpose Warhead Tubes. These weapons allowed the Cruiser to engage enemy vessels at any range. However, it was at its most effective in close-to-mid range combat.
To protect the vessel, the Harbinger-class Cruiser was equipped with both primary deflector shields, and redundant deflector shields. While the primary shield generators sat nestled within the Harbinger itself, the redundant shield generators stood atop its bridge tower.
This combination of offensive weaponry, and defensive equipment, left the Harbinger-class Star Destroyer with limited space to transport starfighters. As such, it could house only one squadron, for a total of 12 craft. So as not to be easy prey for enemy starfighters, the Harbinger was oufitted with numerous anti-starfighter weaponry, including: 30 Point Defense Cannons, 30 Anti-missile Octets, 30 Flak Cannons, and 30 Quad Laser Cannons.
