Braze pushed through the overgrown woods with the ancient Sith holocron clutched tight in one hand. Heat gathered beneath his clothes, sweat dampening the pale strands stuck to his forehead as branches scraped at his sleeves and broad leaves dragged across his shoulders. Somewhere behind him, the broken mouth of the tomb had already vanished beneath vines and shadow.

The holocron pulsed against his palm, red light bleeding through the seams of his glove. Each pulse left him weaker, his connection to the Force stretched thin and fouled by visions that were not wholly his own: ruined battlefields, familiar faces lost beneath smoke, and something ancient reaching for him from with in the artifact. He stumbled against a tree, catching himself, then forced his fingers tighter around the relic.

"Whatever you are," he breathed, pushing onward through the choking heat, "you're going to have to try harder than that..." He murmured feverishly before stumbling forwards and falling to his knees and slumping face first in to the under brush...

Delvin walked through the brush leaves hitting his muscular form hidden within clothing his long white hair and his soft pale skin getting hit with branches to little effect. He was heading to the tomb to collect the very holocron that was already taken as he stumbled upon Braze Braze Looking at the young man delvin. Got onto his knee his striking purple eyes examining braze as his medical training took over checking to see if the young man was okay.

Seeing the feverish signs delvin Despite being a darksider began giving medical aid with a medical pack he had on his person. Setting the sith holocron on brazes other side as delvin flipped braze onto his back for easier access to braze more interested in helping then anything else.

Braze was fever-hot to the touch and coated in a thick sheen of glistening sweat that soaked through his tunic in broad, dark patches. His diminutive form seemed to weigh hardly anything, making his slight frame easy to turn over and revealing the Sith holocron he had been clutching tightly against his chest.

The holocron itself seemed to radiate a vicious Force Drain effect, its presence pressing heavily upon the air around it. Merely coming too close seemed enough to invite the relic's hunger… draining strength, warmth, and vitality from anything living within its reach. Presently, it was voraciously devouring every trace of energy it could draw from the unconscious Echani lying motionless upon the forest floor. His body was riddled with small involentary shivers that denotate muscle sspasms. What ever that holochron had taken from him had left him in dire straights.

Delvin felt the presence of the sith holocron and its effects as he willingly grabbed it creating a loop where it fed of him and he used its power to sustain himself. Through the force as he scooped up the young echani and carried him to his shuttle as delvin shielded braze from further effects of the holocron. As he carried the diminutive echani in his arms as they boarded the shuttle to fly up to his ship so delvin could give him proper care.

As they flew up to his ship delvin gave braze medical care to try and halt the muscle spasms as best he could. Giving braze iv fluids as he laid braze down on a cot as he gave him the iv fluids as he checked vitals. And applied further medical care from there

Braze was easy enough to move. Once he began receiving care and the holocron was pulled from his grasp, the tension drained from his slight frame, leaving him limp upon the cot.

He remained unconscious for some time, his body laboring to mend the harm the relic had wrought. The violent spasms eased into faint, intermittent tremors along his arms and shoulders; his fever lingered, though the intravenous fluids gradually restored some measure of strength to him. Every so often, his fingers curled against the bedding as another shallow breath caught within his chest.

The holocron did not yield its stolen power willingly.

Its crimson seams brightened within Delvin’s grasp, answering his use of Force Drain with a low, resonant thrum. The two currents caught upon one another, each seeking to draw from the other. For several strained moments, the relic’s hunger deepened, pulling against his effort with the weight of everything it had already consumed.

Yet his technique found purchase.

Stolen energy began to bleed from the holocron in uneven pulses, answering the same principle by which it had fed upon Braze. It a contest of direction and control: the relic dragging power inward while Delvin sought to wrench that current back upon itself. Whatever passed through the connection carried more than vitality. Fragments of memory came with it; the phantom heat of burning worlds, voices buried beneath collapsing stone, and the distant sensation of something ancient turning its attention toward the hand now challenging its design.

Red light gathered above the holocron, drawing itself into the hooded likeness of Darth Maltheron. Only his eyes appeared clearly beneath the shadow of his cowl, burning with cold amusement as he regarded the one who had answered hunger with hunger.

“Better,” the gatekeeper murmured, his voice soft enough to invite closer attention. “Most recoil from the devouring hand. You understood that it may be grasped.”

The image inclined its head slightly.

“Force Drain is command over the passage of power. Do not fight the current as lesser minds would. Give it direction… then decide where it ends.”

The apparition receded into crimson haze, leaving the lesson suspended within the strained connection. The holocron continued to resist, but its gatekeeper had acknowledged the answer, and somewhere within its crystalline depths, another sealed layer shifted nearer to opening.

The holocron was one of Darth Maltheron’s relics, permanently altered through Imbue Item, Sith alchemy, and Sith sorcery, binding several enduring Force effects into its crystalline matrix. The principles behind Force Weapon demonstrate that Force energy may be channelled into a physical object, though Maltheron’s enchantment was designed to persist without its creator’s continued concentration. Once awakened through contact with the Force, the holocron employs a bound application of Force Drain to siphon vitality and Force energy from those within its influence, using what it takes to empower its ...gatekeeper? Or perhaps to maintain its internal workings, and unlock deeper layers of concealed instruction.

Braze stirred faintly upon the cot turning on to his side and his breathing picked up in to a sudden deeper inhalation of breath... Dazed, his somber jade green eyes fluttered open to a blurry world view...

Delvin sat there continuing to monitor braze as he continued to concentrate on the loop of force drain keeping himself intact and unharmed by lord maletherons holocron. As the shuttle flew to his ship in orbit hearing the voice behind him delvin looked at darth maletheron. "Thank you for the rather astute explanation but im with a patient" he said coldly sitting there although that did give him an idea.

He channeled the loop into braze returning brazes strength to him even after delvin saw brazes eyes open he channeled brazes stolen strength into the young man to revitalize him. As the i.v. fluids continued their work as the shuttle broke the atmosphere to his ship in orbit.

"A patient," Maltheron echoed. "How very quaint." The suspended metal veil before his eyes gave a slight tilt.

"Still… a living mind is the a much finer instrument. A corpse can keep secrets, certainly and will not disobey... But they are often less useful."

With that the crimson glow of the gate keeper flickered away as the holochron deactivated.

The energy fed back to him seemed to help quite a lot... A few more heavy breaths were drawn, and that far-off, thousand-yard blank stare started to regain focus. After some time, Braze shifted again as his eyes fluttered, blinking. Oxygen renewed his muscles' ability to move, and he shifted, trying to sit up where he lay... He blinked a few more times, looking around as if in a dazed, near-dreamlike state.

"Where... am I?" he asked, before that somber jade-green gaze finally settled on the man who had, for some reason, thought better of letting his life simply slip away from his own foolishness.

"You are in a shuttle on way to my ship to relieve medical aid for the damage done to you from the sith holocron that you found" delvin said sitting there his own darkside aura. Was there but he held no ill will towards the young man who sat before him as the arkanian geneticist rose "your strength may have returned but the damage done to your body may still linger. So get some rest" he said as he set the holocron in a box away from them both for now.

He walked back up to braze "no harm will come to you while im around although I have to ask what does a Jedi need a sith holocron for" he asked quizzicly.

Braze oddly seemed to relax, watching him set the holocron away.

"For to learn of the secrets it possesses…of-course..." he mused softly, blinking as he settled back against the cot, seemingly content, even at ease, to let this total stranger take care of him and let his guard down near entirely.

He raised a hand toward the overhead light, blocking the most of it through parted fingers. A small, pained sound escaped him as he sighed, his eyes closing for a brief moment.

"To expand one's knowledge through the traditional lens of the dark arts of the Force is not something the Jedi Order would typically allow…" he murmured. "One must tread carefully in such studies… To study the blade is difficult without getting at least a few cuts… Caution helps prevent it from cutting too deeply… There is danger in trying to learn of poison without mistaking it for medicine."

He sighed, letting his hand down and resting it over his eyes resisting a mild groan.

Delvin stood there looking at him "seeking knowledge is always a worthwhile goal for any person no matter king or beggerbut to gain knowledge without restraint or safety for one's own health is dangerous." Delvin said standing there his arms behind his back his long white hair behind his back aswell "if I hadn't been going to that tomb for that very holocron it would have more than likely killed you" he said honestly.

"Many a jedi have fell to the trap of knowledge in the dark young jedi although I respect the want to know your enemy and the powers they wield" delvin said standing there speaking calmly. As the shuttle landed on his ships hangar bay he pressed two buttons as the shuttle opened as two droids walked up and lifted the cot braze was on. And carried him through the small hangar to the elevator as delvin walked with them "my name is delvin jeth what is yours young jedi" he asked as they rode the elevator up.

Was he being scolded?

That was certainly an odd and rare experience for the reckless young man. Braze shifted, glancing over at him through a winced squint, jade-green eyes narrowing faintly upon the man.

“Are you scolding me for such recklessness?” he asked gently, perhaps out of disbelief. “Perhaps I may have perished… perhaps not. Regardless, you have my thanks, and it would seem I am within your debt for your assistance, Mister Delvin Jeth. My name is Braze.”

He offered the introduction softly, gathering himself by fractions as he relaxed back closing his eyes.

“I need the knowledge specifically stored in that Holocron,” he chirped. After a few long moments he asked, " Why... did you help me ?"

Delvin walked with braze still on the cot as they got to the desired level of the ship as they walked towards the medical center of his ship. "Not intentionally maybe" delvin offered as he walked beside braze his purple eyes looked at braze. "Well then young braze you can repay me by being more careful in the future the galaxy needs more jedi in it" he said as they walked.

As they got to the medical center there where four beds and braze was transported to one of them from the cot as a couple of scanners scanned braze. "Because its what I do braze even though I wield the darkside im a doctor first and after you have recovered fully I will help you learn what is on that holocron" he offered looking at the results on a datapad on brazes health.

Braze glanced over at the man, confusion knitting beneath his snow-pale brows. He blinked once, then twice, as if he were trying to place a missing piece into the shape of him.

"Then… as a doctor… surely you understand that the Dark Side is caustic," he said softly. "It seeps inwards and poisons judgment. It teaches the mind to mistake pain for clarity, fear for wisdom, and anger for strength..."

His gaze lowered for a moment, thoughtful rather than accusing.

"It is like an addiction... is it not? The Dark Side offers relief perhaps... in the moment... the feeling of Power and Certainty, but it tells you that pain is needed, that the anger is useful, and that fear can be a sharpened tool.

It afflicts both the mind and body and causes a sickness of suffering, then teaches the sufferer to crave the sickness. Every use becomes easier than the last, and weaponizes every wound in to another doorway.

The darkside... is a trap... it lets someone do terrible, impossible things quickly and gives results before any time of thought can object to the action.... So… as a doctor… someone trained to recognize poison, infection, and even dependency… why would you choose to carry that sickness inside yourself?"

Braze drew in a soft breath, his fingers easing where they rested. The offer to teach him had left an expression of Curiosity tempered by caution on his soft features.

"Understanding the ability is paramount to my research," Braze added after a moment, voice gentler now. "So… if you are truly willing to explain it, I would appreciate that."

He let out a soft sigh and settled back again, less tense than before, though not entirely at ease.

Delvin stood there "true it is a poison but just like any poison or toxin if one builds a tolerance to it plus doesnt drink to deep its effects arent so bad." Delvin said standing there "and besides as an arkanian I was taught extreme emotional control so im not as effected by the darksides more addictive nature" he said standing there being truthful.

"If you speak of force drain it is quite simple in theory young braze but putting it into practice is another thing all together" delvin said standing there speaking honestly. His arms crossed behind his back "if you speak of the darkside then you already have a basic grasp of what it is it seems" delvin said looking at the young jedi.
