Books were always reliable no matter what age you were. Books offered knowledge many underestimated and books were the very bloodline that fuelled the virtual academics that today’s world relied so heavily upon. Nora’s mother had been a librarian and her father had been an archaeologist, the concept of ‘ancient’ was not something she was a stranger to or something that scared her. She had lost track of how many times both her mother and her father would geek out over ‘what-ifs’ for this or that old tome that had been lost to the galaxy. It was what had ended up bringing them together and been the runway that had eventually led to, well, Nora. Really, it had come to Nora as a surprise that most parents either didn’t share the kind of bond that Nora’s had or that they hadn’t bonded over the same thing as hers had. Books were her life, books were her parents’ life and someday pretty soon Nora was fairly certain that her father would continue working on his own with her mother.
Would anyone besides Nora read it?
Doubtful.
Would it mean the world to the family as a whole? Absolutely.
Perhaps that was why Nora had chosen to visit the library. Or perhaps it was her burning curiosity relating to the history and effects of Devaronian blood-poison and ways to ensure it never happened again. The answer was about as obvious as it got, the thoughts of home were merely a side effect of being around that ever familial smell of books and their knowledge. This was the one place Nora had most likely visited the most in her time with the Sacred Lotus. Sometimes alone, sometimes with other people from her course. It was fair to argue that for a while it was the cure and cause of her homesickness, but with time even that had started to subside.
In any case, the girl waltzed around the library with joy knowing that with luck she could find herself yet another book to read on the subject of toxins. That was what she had picked up since the summit had come to an end. A path had been laid out before her, and if disease and toxins weren’t the two greatest interests she had then she wouldn’t know what was.
Coming to a stop at the very dead center of the library she began to look around for the section she needed. Instead she noticed another woman at the very opposite end of the library. Of course, being in the very center meant that just about everywhere was the opposite wall, but that didn’t matter. Nora being who she was gave it little thought before she decided to hold off on her study, just for a little while, and go over there to say hello.
She approached the woman with a smile, cleared her throat ever so gently to get her attention…
“Hi, I’m sorry, I’ve seen you around the library a lot and I just figured it would be a good idea to introduce myself.” Nora extended her hand. “I am Nora, I study here and considering how often I’ve seen you around, I can only assume you do the same?”
