Affiliation: Open Market
Manufacturer: Justice Yards
Model: Hammerhead Bomber
Modularity: Minor
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Durasteel
Classification: Bomber
Length: 17.5 Meters
Height: 2.5 meters
Width: 7.9 meters
Armament: 15
1 heavy laser cannon
2 blaster repeaters
2 multi-purpose missile launcher modules Max count each: 8; total: 16
Squadron Count: 11
Special Features:
--Missile launcher modules can hold a variety of missles; if it fits, it launches. Proton torpedos, ballistic missiles, etc. Any light starfighter-class missile launches. While this makes for a versatile avaibale payload, it can also make it very top-heavy.
--Rapid launch missile modules. These modules are made to off-load their payload as fast as the trigger can be pulled. While that makes for a fast off-load of the payload, it could also result in the rapid wasting of ammunition, and the need to return for reloads often.
Maneuverability Rating: 5
Speed Rating: 5
Hyperdrive Class: None

Strengths:
++Multi-purpose missile launchers: These have been made to expend a lot of missiles/torpedos at a rapid rate, making for powerful and fast bombing runs in a short amount of time.
++Pack-a-punch for the size: Pretty powerful weaponry for the size
++Pretty affordable: Did someone duck-tape metal over engines and a a weapons array? Cause that’s the only way this thing could be this cheep.
Weaknesses:
--We need air: No on-board life support
--Hyper-what?: No hyperdrive.
--Short patrols: This ship holds half the fuel for the average bomber, cutting its effect patrol range and bombing range in half.
--Disposable ship: Its easier to build a new one of these than fix one.
--Ammo guzzler: Its easy to get carried away with how fast this ship launches missiles and waste half of them.

Description:
Bombers fulfill a variety of roles. Some are long-range pounders, meant to go the distance and give pin-point precision on targets by using high-tech weaponry. This is not one of them. Designed to go against heavier ships in bulk and pound them to the ground by sheer firepower, the Hammerhead is a fairly powerful bomber.
James boiled down this ship to its most basic needs and components, using the cheapest and most readily available parts to make these bombers. Their targeting array is not advanced, their precision isn’t surgical, and their payloads are not designed to be. The Hammerhead does one thing: it offloads missiles and it leaves a devastating wake in its path. Those who observed the test piloting runs reported that, “it was easy to see where this ship had been, mainly by the massive wake of destruction it left. And the fact that it wasn’t all that far from where it started.”
Development Thread: If needed.
Intent: To make a general-purpose bomber for the board.

So each Hammerhead can carry up to 24 standard missiles? If that's the case, this will probably need to be lowered somewhat. Typically bomber-like starfighters (like the Y-wing) carried around 10 proton torpedoes. Another example which comes to mind would be the Empire's assault gunboat, which carried up to 16 concussion missiles. I think that 16 warheads is probably around the upper limit for a ship this size, but there are some variety in warhead sizes too.

I might take a look at the general purpose warhead launcher or the Flex Tube to get a handle of the size differences. While the flex tube article isn't terribly explicit, on the Y-wing, it's known to be able to carry 5 torpedoes or 10 proton bombs.

[member="James Justice"], if you could put something in there about the warheads being standard-size (like normal concussion missiles or proton torpedoes), this will be good to go. I just don't want to see someone show up in one with each launcher stuffed with some ridiculously huge missile or bomb.

[member="James Justice"], there are some pretty powerful fighter-based weapons. For example, if you look at the general purpose warhead launcher that I linked to above, a single proton space bomb (which is exceptionally powerful) takes up the same space as 4 concussion missiles (standard warheads). Another example off of the top of my head would be a T-33 Plasma Torpedo.

What you could say is something like "any light starfighter-grade warhead" or "munitions equivalent in size and power to a standard concussion missile", or something of that nature.
