HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Master Hama Ruthen was born 85 years before 902 ABY on the lush, forested world of Takodana, a remote planet with lush forests and seas. From a young age, Hama exhibited a strong affinity for healing and the living Force, often found tending to injured animals or calming restless spirits in the ancient groves.

Recognizing her potential, Jedi Order scouts brought her to the temple as a child, where she trained diligently not as a warrior, but as a healer and scholar. Her gentle spirit and empathy earned her the respect of her peers, and she quickly became known for her ability to mend wounds others could not and to soothe minds torn by conflict.

However, Hama's path was not without darkness. During a covert mission, she was captured by Sith forces and imprisoned in a brutal Sith detention facility known only as the Shadow Bastion. For several harrowing years, she endured harsh physical and psychological torment, the cruelty of her captors leaving scars on both her body and soul. This period planted a deep bitterness in her heart, not toward the Force or the Jedi, but toward the darkness that could corrupt and consume even the strongest of wills.

Despite the brutal torment she endured, Hama's spirit was not fully broken. When she was finally rescued from the Shadow Bastion, the years of captivity and suffering had irrevocably altered her, deepening her wisdom and sharpening her resolve. She returned to the Jedi Order not as a warrior seeking vengeance, but as a healer who sought to prevent the kind of pain she had experienced from ever touching another soul. Her teachings were infused with an even greater compassion, and her once-gentle laughter now held an undertone of quiet understanding, a reminder that light could still exist even in the darkest of places.

But beneath her outward calm, the scars of her time in the Sith prison never truly healed. Her humor, often warm and infectious, became a mask, a way of hiding the pain she'd never fully allowed herself to confront. If one looked closely enough, they might see the flicker of something darker in her eyes, a shadow that never quite faded.

Though Hama continued to teach with kindness, there was a subtle bitterness that lingered in her heart, a bitterness she struggled to acknowledge, let alone release. Deep within, a quiet rage simmered, the memories of her time in captivity poisoning her soul in ways she couldn't explain. She had buried the hurt so deep that even she couldn't always tell where the wounds ended and her healing began.

Her outward serenity and the comforting embrace of her warmth and wisdom were often a shield. She carried the weight of her past with a grace that only made her suffering more hidden, more silent. Her laughter, though genuine, was sometimes too loud, too quick, a way to keep others from seeing the cracks that threatened to surface. Hama Ruthen was a healer, yes, but even healers could break. And while she could mend others, she feared she might never be whole again.

Now, as a venerable Jedi Master, Hama Ruthen dedicates herself to healing, teaching, and protecting the fragile harmony between life and the Force, always carrying the lessons of her past with quiet dignity and a heart full of hope. She is a bit of a hermit living in an old stone cabin on Naboo, but she does often feel wanderlust and go where the Force guides her.
