OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Sakadi Marathi Sinvala Sakadi Marathi Sinvala
  • Affiliation: Jedi-affiliated characters.
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Model: Hailstone Focusing Lens
  • Modularity: The Hailstone Focusing Lens is a modular component itself, as it is meant to be integrated in a lightsaber.
  • Production: Limited (As they are personally made by Sakadi, one can only be obtained through her.
  • Material: Electrum, Lightsaber Crystals (Permafrost crystal and Pontite crystal), Glass and user-dependent materials used in lightsaber construction.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The Hailstone Focusing Lens makes a lightsaber emit a cold blade instead of a heated one. Therefore, it behaves differently when it comes in contact with other materials or substances. Tissue can still be lacerated by the blade, leaving a thin layer of ice on that which the blade cuts through (or impales), and freezing any liquids. But materials like metals and synthetic polymers become brittle instead. Depending on the flexibility of, and/or force applied to the brittle material, it may break and crumble immediately after contact with the blade.
  • Due to the unique combination of the Permafrost and Pontite crystals used to construct these lenses, they alter the colour of the blade. Any lightsaber equipped with a Hailstone Focusing Lens is given an icy-blue colour.
STRENGTHS
  • Void of energy: Usage of the Hailstone Focusing Lens makes the blade of a lightsaber void of energy - the definition of absolute zero. This means that, instead of emitting extreme heat, the lightsaber emits extreme cold. This creates new opportunities, and makes it particularly effective against opponents or in situations where a 'normally' functioning lightsaber does not suffice.
  • Pontite & Permafrost crystals: The unique interaction between the pontite and permafrost crystal in thelens and the kyber crystal creates a unique signature in the Force. If the component is properly attuned to the lightsaber, it exudes a serene presence that may keep its wielder and nearby beings calm and emotionally stable.
  • Easily incorporated: Once constructed and fine-tuned, the lens component can easily be attached to (or removed from) a lightsaber's emitter.
WEAKNESSES
  • Selective Cutting: Because the lens renders a lightsaber unable to directly cut through (or penetrate) most construction and armour materials, they are far more limited in usage than standard lightsabers.
  • Limited modularity: The lens requires a kyber crystal that is neither cracked nor corrupted to function properly. If this requirement is not met, the result can be rather explosive.
  • Standard component: The lens is above all just another lightsaber component. A cortosis blade will still shut a lightsaber equipped with this module down, for example.
  • Attunement of Lens and Blade: To have its presence resonate through the Force and use its calming aura, the kyber in the lightsaber and the lens have to be attuned. Secondly, it requires the wielder to be a Light-sided Force user.
DESCRIPTION
"A lightsaber is not just an energy-emitting weapon. It is a refined instrument of the Living Force."

With decades of experience and vast knowledge of the Jedi culture, lore and techniques, Sakadi began her effort to adapt traditional Jedi instruments to the struggles of the present. This culminated in the creation of the Hailstone Focusing Lens - a design made to combat the Draelvasier after she witnessed the destructive nature of the Bryn'adul in the battles of Sarka and Nar Kreeta.

Functionality (simplified)
unknown.png
A Hailstone Focusing Lens is a modular lightsaber component that can be attached to the emitter of a lightsaber, or fully integrated in the design of a lightsaber. The component consists of an electrum housing with three uniquely developed and calibrated lenses. The (quartz) glass lens serves simply as a protective layer and means of calibration. The permafrost lens is what provides the lightsaber with its unique properties. These properties are enhanced and optimised by the Pontite lens, which makes sustaining a lightsaber's blade possible.
