Approved Tech H-1 .55-Caliber Messenger

Status
Not open for further replies.
Intent: To create an adequate hunting firearm
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Abrogation Inc.
Model: H-1
Affiliation: Horror
Modularity: Small attachments for the small rack; Barrel and Receiver may be rechambered to .45 and anything inbetween
Production: Limited (2)
Material: Plasteel, Thermal Gel, Mercury, Durasteel
Description: Meant mostly for hunting the worst of the worst beasts in the galaxy, the thermal gel-bound grip loaded H-1 .55 Caliber Messenger packs a titanic punch. The five hundred-fifty (550) magnum slugs shot from this weapon can breach moderately armored vehicles and even the hides of a Tarentatec or a Leviathan. It is compatible with lower calibers.

But with great power comes great...power. The recoil on this super pistol is immense. In insufficiently trained hands, the slugthrower would snap the wrists, fly out of the hands and break the nose of the unlucky wielder, most likely missing the target in the process. With enough training and a strong two handed grip, a person might be able to keep it in their hands. A mercury filled durasteel recoil suppressor does it's best to lessen the recoil by reacting almost instantly when the gun is fired, though this only goes so far.
Classification: Slugthrower
Size: Handheld
Status: Illegal
Length: 268 mm
Weight: 6.37 kg
Ammunition Type: Slug
Ammunition Capacity: Six Rounds
Effective Range: 50 m

Mkay, lots of issues.

First off, I literally cannot see this being effectively used by anything smaller than maybe a Wookiee (even if you use force augmentation) and even then I can only see this being used as a "Range Queen", a weapon used to show off and fire at a range as it is not a practical weapon. Rifles in this caliber are used in big game hunting and are usable weapons, but those are set so that the recoil is sent directly backwards into the shoulder. A pistol sends the recoil backwards and upwards. That means you now have a heavy pistol moving at a fast rate towards your face or, as seen on YouTube videos, over your shoulder.

Generally speaking, compatibility with smaller calibers means a complete rechambering of the barrel and receiver/cylinder. I would suggest making this modular.

2.32kg is only viable if you want this to fly apart on the first shot. The RL Pfiefer Waffen made .600 Nitro Express pistol weighs 6kg. I would suggest using that as a baseline. This pistol is also a "Range Queen".

Using the Pfiefer Waffen as a base again, I'd suggest adding another 0.5-1kg for six rounds. The Waffen held 5 at 6kg (13lbs).

@ me when done and we'll go from there.

Horror is basically a Matukai who is capable of, according to the Wookieepedia article,

"feats of strength and power exceeding what their bodies were capable of"

Despite that, I've reduced the caliber to .55, hopefully that makes it a bit more practical.
I've also:

Increased the weight to 6.37 kg

Fixed the modularity

"Basically" a Matukai is not the same as is a Matukai. Regardless, I believe I stated ealier:

Aside from your status of Matukai or almost Matukai, large caliber pistols like this have a limited range of uses and none of them practical. If you want to have one for use, that's cool. It'll be far, far less effective than a smaller caliber and it'll probably get you killed in the long run. 0.55 caliber or .60 caliber pistols are, as with other huge caliber pistols and some very large caliber rifles, "Range Queens" and are impractical. But, as I said, you want one to try out in combat, that's your choice.

Moving on, the weight looks fine, though I'd like you to remove the "needs superhuman strength to rapid fire or fire one handed" lines from the description. Anything but a two handed grip will either send the pistol flying or shatter your wrist, and even then it's still a possibility.

As for the modularity, what caliber can it be rechambered to?

For the range, is that the effective range or the maximum range? I ask because large caliber pistols have a good maximum range, but a lousy effective range due to massive recoil.

Okay, .45 caliber is fine, if a bit heavy of a pistol for it. It works though, no beef there.

Thank you for removing the superhuman line.

Unless you put a recoil suppressor that's roughly the size of the pistol OR put a stock on this, effectively making it a rifle, any recoil suppressing system is only going to change the recoil from "Wrist breaking" to "Potentially wrist breaking". It seems you have that covered in the description, so it appears as if you understand that.

50m as an effective range is a bit much for this large a caliber pistol, but honestly you'll be outranged by most other weapons so I'm not going to get on you too much about that.

Before I approve this at all or even hover the mouse near the buttons, I want to make sure you understand a few things.

Recoil suppression system, Force augmentation, or what have you, if I see this weapon used rapid fire without severe hits to your accuracy, this will be retroactively denied. If I see you dual wielding these without negative effects to yourself, this will be retroactively denied. If this weapon is reported for abuse, it will be retroactively denied. We clear?
