Gwaii Cat? Oh Yes, Please!!

Still trying to adjust to life outside of politics and slave liberations, Kay borrowed a modified corvette from her adopted brother [member="James Justice"] and set out for Imahalyan. On the holo-net she had stumbled across a gorgeous species. They were called the Gwaii Cats, and let's face it, they were adorable! Sadly, such creatures were being poached and caught up in breeding farms that just didn't fit well given the solitary nature of the species. There were some Gwaii Cats elsewhere in the Galaxy, but Imahalyan was their home planet. To try to stop the poaching and breeding farms, she needed to go to the source.

Once out of hyperspace, she had her K1 series droid Mrs. Nesbitt hold the ship in orbit while she got her things ready. And of course she wanted some tea first while she read up on the Gwaii Cats more. Kay wasn't sure if others would join her, but whether she was on her own or with others, it didn't matter. At least she was doing something. It might not benefit the Galaxy, but it could at least benefit one species and the ecosystem it resides in.

Maybe in about an hour, she'll go in...

There was a whole lot of things to do as the jedi master was walking through her ship and the bay was being worked on. The internal repair and observation droids. She could work in the garden on her ship looking to a few of the things as she saw the jako beasts and akk dogs roaming around. Animal taming and friendship something they could work with before she put her feet in the water seeing the timetable before they arrived to meet with Kay who said she had something to show them all. It was more a chance to just get out and stretch her legs before heading back into the lab to work on everything.

Mrs. Nesbitt beeped and whistled, signalling an oncoming vessel. Kay headed up to the viewport and looked. "It's okay. It's Matsu. She'll follow us down....And yes, you can come with us too." The droid whistled excitedly, causing Kay to laugh a little. "Bring us down a few kilometres from the camp, alright?" A couple of affirmative beeps were given and then a few seconds later, they were on their way through the atmosphere. Thankfully it was a rainy day with low laying clouds to hide them in. Just perfect...

Matsu looked at the woman as she was there and want to hug her. After hearing everything else that had been happening there wasn't a whole lot she could do. Kay was no longer a senator as opposed to an overwhelmed one who she took out for a small vacation. Now she was unemployed and likely using her checks for booze or something like that... or worse. "Oh it is good to see you are alright, so much drama and headache has been going on recently."

Kay had wrapped herself up to protect herself and her satchel from the rain. She exited the ship with Mrs. Nesbitt rolling along behind her. It didn't take long for Matsu to join her. She lightly shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah...But what's done is done. I'm just glad that no one made a fuss. The last thing that I need is for people to be poking around and making fun of me for my failures. I can imagine a few that would do that...." But she knew Matsu wouldn't be one of them. Kay had a bit of a plan. One last push to free those that need to be freed before she went away for a while. Sadly her history had repeated itself. Hopefully there won't be a next time.

"Well you know me, I won't poke you for failing... for other things maybe but only if you ask nicely." She said it with a smile on her face and looking at all of the things. "So come on spill and tell me, something new and exciting is here and I was the first one you thought of." The smile got wider while she was excited to see what they might have found or be able to get... Either way the jedi master was here ready with her friend after their adventures and fun in the deserts of Klantooine.

Kay smirked a little at her remarks and then pointed south. "There's a camp a few kilometres that way. Poachers. They're after a rare-ish creature called the Gwaii Cat. I saw a man wearing a bit of fur on his jacket and asked him about it. Then I looked it up. They are hard to track, but a couple of poachers have found a way. So I wanted to stop them."

o dealing with some poachers huh... she could do that and stunning them or using their own tranqs on them might be the best way to go. Give them a taste of their own medicine while she was moving forward with a couple of things. "Alright then, let us go and handle it." She was looking at some of the things while she was looking. "So shall we head out and handle them?"

Kay nodded to her. "Yup, we just head out and see what we can find. How we handle them depends on how many there are, if we can catch them by surprise and whether or not they can listen to reason." She started across the field, determined to get there and at least make this right. She needed to prove to herself that she was still a good person and still worthy of something. But most importantly she needed to prove to herself that she could change lives for the better. Sure the creatures that she was looking to save were only semi-sentient, but like some of the slaves that she's freed, they were all worth saving. Mrs. Nesbitt rolled along behind, quietly whistling a tune to herself.

That was the way to do some of the things while she was walking with her. "They should, we might have to work on them a little and convince them but we should be able to do it." She was more then happy to protect some species, it would give her something to do and allow Satochi to meet and document a new species within the galaxy.. Slowly though she checked her equipment while she was walking towards the jungle. "So lead the way and let go do that hoodoo that we doodoo so well."

Kay smirked at the words, but that smirk soon turned to a light chuckle. She led the way, making sure that the path they took would be easy enough for Mrs. Nesbitt to roll through. After about fifteen minutes, she saw the sight of smoke through the trees. Kay slowed down and then whispered, "One of us should sneak up and see how many poachers there are. I can do it if you wouldn't mind keeping watch over Mrs. Nesbitt for me..."

Matsu was looking at her and the plan for everything they could do as she bowed her head. She wanted to see what Kay could do but she had the sneak skills. "I'll cloak and sneak around them, you move in and we'll disable them." She was looking at the woman for a moment before backing up and focusing on the force, she was wrapping it around herself and into the jungle. She didn't need to use her blades most likely focusing on stunning skills that she could use while slowly slinking away and letting the cloaking bend the light around her body like a glove while moving to go around and stop them.

Kay nodded and then watched in amazement as Matsu seemed to disappear from sight. Yup. That would work. "Mrs. Nesbitt, you can go ahead of me please. We're heading to the campfire."

With a bit of a worried hum, her K1 droid rolled ahead, with Kay a few feet behind. She made herself look like a wary traveller. Three poachers sat at the camp, just finishing breakfast. Half a dozen cages were stacked nearby, two of which held Gwaii Cats. One had green fur, the other had blue. Both looked worse for wear, licking their legs that had clearly been held in leghold traps.

Upon seeing the droid and Kay, they drew their weapons and stood on their feet. "Who are you?"

"I'm lost. Been lost for a few days now. I saw your fire and just had to come. You're the first bit of civilization that I've seen. Mind if I sit?"

The mere fact that Kay seemed to ignore their caged animals was enough to have them drop their guard and lower their weapons. The gold accents on Mrs. Nesbitt gave them a good indication that she was worth some money. Maybe there was a reward out for a lost noble woman? "Have a seat, warm up by the fire."

Kay did as she was asked, acting as though she was grateful for it. All the while though, she waited for Matsu to pounce on them.

Matsu was moving in behind Kay, keeping her force energy suppressed while also taking in the sights of the ones there so she wouldn't miss someone and endanger all of them by risking a stray to get a shot off. Better way to plan and be careful for the moment while she was moving in with purpose. Then Kay was there and the jedi master dropped the cloak focused for a moment until the one realized it and her hand came out touching her chest as her convulsed and fell to the ground with a heart stun. Not enough to kill but you weren't going to like the feeling of it while she ducked down and popped up kicking another in the face. to send him away. Pulling at anothers weapon to smash into the face of a fourth.

And pounce on them she did. Almost in rapid fire, all of the poachers were knocked out. Kay just sat there and watched before searching for some rope visually. It was too bad that the cages were too small for them.

She then got to her feet. "Keep an eye on them, Mrs. Nesbitt and make holovids of their faces for the authorities." Kay then looked to Matsu. "Shall we tie them to the trees before we check on their prizes?" Or rather their prey. She hoped that they were all okay.

Tie them to tree and without honey to attract the animals that they so wanted to capture... Well couldn't help everything as she was standing there and gave a nod of her head. Looking for rope to use while looking at Kay's droid that had the most bizarre name... however it was a ball droid and very adorable so why not. Just meant she had to wait for tea time while moving around a little bit. "Yes lets see what they got."

A ship descended slowly into a clearing, the slight hum of its repulsor drive barely audible against the ambient sounds of wildlife which permeated the air.

A panel on the underside of the ship opened and a gantry extended.

"4-D7, see if you can get a fix on those Sith ruins," a voice said from just inside the ship.

"Query: Don't I always, Mistress?" the research droid asked.

"That you do, dear fellow," the captain said, a smile in her voice. "That you do. I'm going to take a look around and see if I can get my bearings."

A tall, slender figure gracefully walked down the gantry, adjusting the wide brim of her hat and tucking a few errant strands of auburn hair underneath as she entered the sunlight.

As her green eyes adjusted to the light, she stopped suddenly and started looking about, her ears tuning out any extraneous sounds around her. She was certain that she was being watched.

When she at last discovered the spy, a broad smile crossed her lips. Beneath the fronds and foliage and underbrush, a pair of large eyes stared up at her, full of wonderment and curiosity ... and a bit of fear.

Aldera crouched down so that she did not intimidate the creature before her.

"Come here, my friend," she said in a dulcet tone, holding out her hand. "There's no need to be afraid."

With a bit of trepidation, the Gwaii Cat extended its horned, green-furred head out of the underbrush. Then, feeling a bit bolder, it crept toward the outstretched hand, finally rubbing its cheek against it.

"What brings you here?"

The young Gwaii Cat burbled.

"Would you mind repeating that, please?"

The young Gwaii Cat yipped a bit frantically and took a few steps toward the jungle, looking over her shoulder to see if Aldera was behind her.

"You want me to follow?"

The yip became a low growl.

"What?! Some poachers have captured your litter mates? Please ... lead on!"

"Seal the hatch, raise shields, and prep engines," Aldera shouted up to 4-D7. "We might need to leave in a hurry!"

"Declaration: As you desire, Mistress."

The gantry receded, the hatch closed, and light shimmering appeared around the ship.

Both Aldera and the Gwaii Cat slipped silently through the jungle, alternating direction several times until they saw plumes of smoke a short distance ahead.

<"Stay back here,"> Aldera yipped, almost perfectly imitating her companion, in case the poachers were within earshot. <"I'll scout ahead.">

The Gwaii Cat narrowed her eyes, as if in disapproval.

Aldera sighed in exasperation, then nodded for the Gwaii Cat to follow.

Watching from a hidden vantage point, Aldera and the Gwaii Cat surveyed the camp, Aldera careful to see if she could detect any poachers out of line-of-sight.

Three poachers sat at the camp, just finishing breakfast. Half a dozen cages were stacked nearby, two of which held Gwaii Cats. One had green fur, the other had blue. Both looked worse for wear, licking their legs that had clearly been held in leghold traps.

A stirring of anger welled-up within Aldera when she saw the injured Gwaii Cats, and she fought to suppress it.

Long moments passed, and then Aldera saw a Human woman and a spherical droid enter the camp. The poachers rose to their feet and brandished their weapons.

"I'm lost," the woman said to those visible in the camp. "Been lost for a few days now. I saw your fire and just had to come. You're the first bit of civilization that I've seen. Mind if I sit?"

"Have a seat," one of the poachers said, indicating a place next to him on a log. "Warm up by the fire."

Aldera had a feeling that something wasn't quite right. A moment later, another Human woman appeared out of thin air and quickly dispatched the poachers.

Aldera and the Gwaii Cat circled stealthfully to the cages and began to release the trapped animals.

Kay got to her feet and helped Matsu look for some rope. She found a couple of coils and tossed one to her friend. "Here. We might need to tie two together." As Matsu was the stronger of them, she let her handle two while Kay took care of one. She tied the wrists behind the poacher's back and then secured it to his ankles. Hopefully her knots would hold.

Her K1 droid, Mrs. Nesbitt caught the movements of Aldera and the Gwaii Cat with it's sensors, then bellowed out warning beeps. Kay stopped what she was doing and then spotted the woman and cat. "Hey! Who are you and what are you doing??"

A new one, there seemed to be a new one as the jedi master moved to stand near Kay and help them observing the woman. She seemed strange but well not exactly bad and her being there helping the cats was not a bad thing either while her attention was going over some of the different things. "Then we welcome and thank you." Stopping poachers, rescuing cats.... there was a bizarre holodrama or comedy about all fo this she was certain.
