Private Guiding Light

The former Jedi and near officer of the Lilaste Order had taken on one additional duty for the day. The youngest daughter of an acquaintance from the Diarchy was expected to visit Aurora Station. As one of the few females on board, she decided she would give the girl a tour and answer any questions she might have, both about the Order and herself.

The trip from the planet below took about half an hour, and Iandre was waiting for the teen when it arrived. She wasn't wearing her armor; instead, she wore grey pants and a shirt, with the pants tucked into her grey boots. Like usual, her hair was braided and hung down her front to her shoulders. Her lightsaber was clipped to her hip, and her eyes were friendly as she watched Jayna exit the shuttle.

"Welcome to Aurora Station. I'm Iandre Athlea."

Nodding her head politely, she held a hand out to the girl as she introduced herself.

Aurora Station was a new experience. Jayna had looked into the Lilaste Order before agreeing to the field trip. There were so many possibilities for awesome that by the time Jayna was on the shuttle she could barely sit still. If she was friends with the pilot she probably would have paced the whole ride. But she knew her manners and sit still like a proper young lady.

When the docking sequence started Jayna's feet started to fidget. Her hands were poised at the release for her safety restraints. She knew her manners, that didn't make Jayna patient. With the Lilaste Order focused on martial actions to gain balance and order in the galaxy, Jayna was quite hopeful to get to see some cool ships and weapons. She was sure there would be much more to it, but she had her base interests.

She also wondered who would show her around. Jayna thought her mom mentioned a name, but Jayna was too excited to focus on that yet. Master Laphisto would be incredibly cool. But Jayna had no hopes of that happening. Maybe she would get lucky and see him though.

Not needing to be told it was time to disembark, Jayna released her safety harness and rushed to the ship's ramp. The dock of Aurora Station was pretty normal, so Jayna quickly focused on the woman waiting. Most Jayna's age would probably think this chaperone was old. Jayna didn't think that way. Partially because she knew that a lifespan was a very personal thing, and secondly because she saw someone she wished she could be.

Jayna returned the nod and took the offered hand. Formality was something Jayna had been taught from a very young age. She was very happy to see no bowing or curtsy was required. "Hi Iandre. Thanks for showing me around. I am Jayna Ismet-Thio. I am looking forward to seeing things on the station." Jayna's focus settled on Iandre's lightsaber, but she forced herself not to stare.

It was refreshing to see a teen so excited to be at the station and get a tour. Iandre would do her best to give the girl the answers she wanted and help lead by example of what she might be when she grew up. The former Jedi had grown up as a warrior and had been trained for as long as she could remember to be a fighter. She was pleased to know that this had mainly changed in the galaxy, but it was nice to have the interest of this young adult standing before her.

"Pleased to meet you, Jayna. If it's easier, you can call me Ian. This is obviously one of the landing bays. Probably the most widely used, but there are a few others nearby for the military to come and go from."

Ian was being as open as she felt she could be at the moment. Jayna didn't need to see everything, but just mentioning that aspect should be enough. Tipping her head in the direction of the hangar door, she completed the motion by lifting her shoulder and making a sharp turn where she wanted to walk with the teen.

"Is there any specific area you have the most interest in?"

For the moment, she wasn't going to mention the focus she saw on her lightsaber. There would be a better chance in the near future for her to get a closer look at it when they arrived at the training area.

Jayna looked around the main hangar bay. She gave a silent nod as she took in the ships present. None would be of a variety that Jayna recognized. She wasn't exactly a starcraft aficionado, but she loved the idea of flying through space someday. And hoped someday soon to get formal lessons, and maybe a ship of her own to learn on. It was almost as big a dream as the obsession with finally getting her own lightsaber. The funny thing was Jayna wasn't even sure she wanted to be a fulltime warrior, but the idea of having Force talents and no real weapon was crazy. She wasn't even sure why that was the case as her mother was perfectly capable of survival without knowing how to use one. Perhaps Jayna was so obsessed because she thought it would be harder to learn if her sight diminished and she ended up blind like her mom.

"Easy isn't really my style. I like Iandre, unless you prefer Ian," Jayna responded with a smile. Her eyes moving back to meet Iandre's and preparing to move forward with the tour of the station. "I generally just go by Jayna. Haven't established a nickname yet. If you like a shorter name, you can call me Jay."

Jayna hummed at the mention of a military hangar. She wondered what sort of ships would be there. It made sense that civilian and military ships wouldn't mix. And the military hangar was probably much more secure than this one. Though by reputation Jayna wasn't sure that Aurora station had many spots where someone could come and go willie nillie.

As Iandre nodded and turned towards the door the most dangerous question to ask in the galaxy was asked. What was of particular interest to a thirteen-year-old girl. The possibilities were endless. Despite her obvious excitement to blurt out a number of answers, Jayna had been taught better than that. She took in a breath and then exhaled slowly. "I would love to see where the Order works out and trains. I find my best meditation is done in nature, so if you keep some sort of gardens up here that would be nice to see. But mostly. I want to see what makes this Order different from the Jedi."

Giving the girl a simple nod, she was quiet while Jayna considered her question.

"In time, maybe you'll gain a nickname. It's good that easy isn't your style. The Galaxy can be tough. War never seemed to end. I hope you have the chance to grow up before it reaches you."

She had been trained to be a warrior since she was a toddler. A child, and she didn't want to push any of the kids of the Diarchy in that direction. They should have the opportunity to be children and enjoy themselves. It wasn't something she had been granted, and she wanted that for Jayna and any of the others in the Diarchy or Order.

"I'll continue to call you Jayna."

Smiling when she heard the hum, she would do her best to allow the teen a sneak peek. What harm could come from that? Listening to her answer, she shook her head.

"Unfortunately, no, we don't have any sort of garden here."

When she asked about the difference between the Order and the Jedi, she was surprised.

"That is a straightforward question to answer. We are not a Force Order but a military. Most of the men and women up here can't use the Force. Even if they can, they aren't treated any differently than somebody who can't. Other than a few of the cadets, there's only I, Laphisto Laphisto , and Zinayn Zinayn that can use the Force.

They are also allowed to choose which path they want to follow and learn to incorporate both sides of the Force. If they want to. I'm still pretty set in my ways and haven't tried to use anything dark."

In the time she had been on board the station, part of the Order, and down on the planet, she had adjusted to being around those who could use it. Guiding them out of the hangar, she walked slowly enough for Jayna to keep up.
