Description: Built as a cheep patrol frigate the Guardian-class boasts a powerful weapons load centered around its forward focused Heavy Turbolaser cannons. These all fire into the forward arch and have very limited targeting for anything other than whats directly in front of the vessel. This makes targeting small fast vessels impossible. The intent is to engage large slow vessels which can be targeted easily and not evade the forward power of the Heavy weapons. In addition ten double turbolaser cannons line the port and starboard prow. these can target vessels in the fore and flanks offering a field of fire over 270 degrees. Quad laser cannons offer anti fighter and projectile defense and work as close support effect fire weapons when escorting larger vessels.
At the center of the Guardian-class is an ejectable Hypermatter reactor outputting 1.3 x 10 to the 20th power watts to power the various systems of the vessel. The core is encased in two layers quadranium and shielded from radiation by a Rad shield generator the core can withstand punishment that far surpasses most ships of her class.
Propulsion and maneuvering is provided by 4 Main fusal Ion drive thrusters. Advanced Combat thrusters which include extra Attitude thrusters and Lateral thrusters give the Guardian-class a better chance of evading incoming fire.
The Guardian-class has an impressive array of thrusters for maneuvering giving the vessel a better than average maneuvering compared to mast ships it size. Combat thrusters give the ship short bursts or heavy thrust power to evade incoming fire when needed.
Braced double bulkheads and blast walls give the Guardian-class the ability to withstand massive amounts of of damage before the vessel breaks up. this keeps the ship in the fight longer and often allows the vessels of the class to escape impossible odds and make it to a repair yard.
While the vessel has no hanger it has docking umbilici on the port and starboard just fore of the engine section under the command superstructure. Using tractor beams these allow the Guardian-class to dock with vessels for cargo, crew change, or boarding actions.
The Crew of the Guardian class generally consists of 177 for optimal operations. This consists of 24 officers, 60 Operations personnel, 21 Engineering and Damage Control specialists, 48 Gunners, and 24 Security forces. The Guardian-class can be operated sucessfully but a 36 member skeleton crew if needed.
A centralized cargo hold on the lower amidships section just fore of the engine clusters can house food and supplies for a full crew compliment for up to thirty six months. It can also house up to 5,000 metric tons of cargo.
