• Affiliation: Open market (use as you will)
 • Model: GT-40 Starburn Reactor; individual sizes are labeled GT-40A through GT-40K, in increasing order of size.
 • Modularity: No
 • Production: Mass-produced
 • Material: Reactor components, ultra-low-oxidation construction

SPECIAL FEATURES
 • Microfusion pile (as linked above)

Strengths:
 • Will last a very, very long time (on the order of thousands of years) without refuelling.
 • Built to last; will not rust or easily corrode.

Weaknesses:
 • Relatively low power generation (<40% of the power produced by a reactor of comparable size and bulk).

DESCRIPTION
In theory, good business suggests that your product should lead to further purchases. Reactors need replacement, upgrades, refuelling, special additives, etc. Well, not this one. The GT-40 fills a very special niche: it was designed for ultra-long-lasting fire-and-forget hyperspace navigation beacons. And it will outlast virtually everything else about those beacons.

The GT-40’s microfusion pile technology comes from the Silentium and Abominor of the Unknown Regions. These ancient droid civilizations tangled with the Lords of the Fringe and later powers on multiple occasions. Gradually, microfusion pile technology percolated along the Blood Trail and entered the galactic market. Gallofree Transports happened to secure some key patents early on. GT was not the first mainstream producer to use microfusion piles - Lucerne Labs employed a pile series to power a well-regarded starship line several technological generations back. However, GT was the first to recognize and exploit the technology’s potential for endurance in a consistent way.

The GT-40 is available on the open market for a high but reasonable cost, and has found great success among customers who would prefer not to buy fuel anytime in the next millennium. For example, navigational beacons, comm relays, listening posts, secret bases, Otherspace locations, satellites, probe droids, and long-range expeditions can all benefit. The GT-40 is also a popular choice as a backup/emergency reactor.
