The Grimnar-class Star Destroyer was a warship conceived for planetary defense, planetary assault, troop transport, and ship-to-ship combat. It was designed by Iron Wrath Industries, and produced by the Iron Empire. It saw use as part of the Iron Imperial Navy, serving the role of a Pocket Star Destroyer.
Expected to be deployed across a variety of combat scenarios, the Grimnar-class Star Destroyer was outfitted with a diverse range of offensive weaponry. Primarily intended for ship-to-ship combat, the Grimnar featured: 30 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries, 30 Turbolaser Batteries, 20 Heavy Ion Batteries, 20 Ion Batteries, and 20 General Purpose Warhead Tubes. Unlike it's Iron Imperial counterparts, the Grimnar focused solely on close-to-mid range combat.
To protect the vessel, the Grimnar-class Star Destroyer was equipped with both primary deflector shields, and redundant deflector shields. While the primary shield generators sat nestled within the Grimnar itself, the redundant shield generators stood atop its bridge tower.
Compared to that of other Iron Imperial vessels, the Grimnar-class Star Destroyer lacked the impressive martial capabilities, which had become a defining feature of the Iron Fleet. However, it made up for these deficiencies in both speed and maneuverability. With powerful engines, and numerous maneuvering jets, the Grimnar was among the fastest, and most maneuverable, of Iron Imperial Star Destroyers.
