Preston Pistoleer Academy was an Academy for training Force Users who specialized in ranged combat at close to medium ranges. In spite of it's name, The Academy didn't just focus on the use of pistols but ranged weapons of multiple types. Founded by former Teepo Paladins, graduates of this Academy were renowned as extremely lethal, unconventional warriors often employed to hunt and kill Sith.
Zabka Bis'clavret was the son of one of the instructors, Haven Bis'clavret (Starlin Rand's biological Grandfather) and dedicated to utter mastery of any pistol. Zabka's training was halted when he was recruited by the Jedi Order but he made sure to continue his training with the Academy in part time until he earned the armor at graduation.
Possessing a natural skill at magic, Zabka enchanted the armor, altering it over the years as new threats cropped up. Zabka fought the Sith in it for years and trained Starlin's own Master.
The Armor's greatest test was when he faced down and killed his own apprentice T'sid Surt'r on Ryloth. Zabka never wore it afterward but recent events have forced him to pull it out of mothballing to protect his son and his former wife.
