Intent: Create a unique shield system for Gallofree Yards inc
Development Thread:
Manufacturer: Gallofree Yards Inc
Model: GR- MWA - Wedge Shielding System
Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity: No

Production: [background=#232323]Mass produced[/background]
Material: Arcetron, Gententhium, durasteel

Strengths[background=#232323]:[/background]
[background=#232323]Deflects incoming fire 20% particle and guided weapons, 35% unguided projectile weapons[/background]
Effects stackable
Effect can be reversed so beams and other munitions can have their range increased to the same degree.

[background=#232323]Weaknesses:[/background]
[background=#232323]Does not protect ship by taking damage like a regular shield[/background]
[background=#232323]Stacking effects have diminishing returns (50% less per stack) one 35%, two 52.5%, three 61.25% and so on [/background]
[background=#232323]Losses effectiveness at close range, useless at point blank as shield needs time and distance to work. [/background]
[background=#232323]Does not cover whole ship, only target area Limited to 50m[/background]
[background=#232323]Can not be used in addition to standard particle shields must be one or the other[/background]
[background=#232323]Can be added in place of regular shields at the cost of 500 metric tons of cargo space, per unit [/background]

Description: Without access to military grade shielding or much shield tech of any kind Gallofree yards was forced to "re-invent the wheel." With the greatest enemy in the sector known to use weapons that ignored conventional shields, Gallofree has instead doubled down on armoring its' ships and equipping them with shields that do not absorb incoming fire but rather re-direct it. Hence the reason for this unique shielding system.

The system works by projecting a concaved gravametric field that can distort a projectile's path while in flight and even deflecting particle and light beams to a lesser degree. While this works well for unguided ammunition it does not work as well for guided and particle based attacks as the first can correct its' course and the second travels much faster and so the shield has less effect on it.

Submission: Wedge Shields
Summary: Adding Strength
Reason: Forgot to add to sub that effect can be reversed
Modification: Add to Strength

Effect can be reversed so beams and other munitions can have their range increased to the same degree.

how is this a strength?

so gravitic shielding is nothing new or crazy but most do not work like this. They generally work by reducing the weight of an object thereby decreasing its mass and reducing its momentum. This is closer to a concussion shield, which basically pushed stuff away.

This has good weaknesses and is a solid concept. Also there will be weapons that will bypass this. I wont get into those here but If you like message me and I will tip you off to what to watch out for.

all in all its a cool shield system.
