DESCRIPTION
Loyal to none, GPECC was a cabal of like minded corporations which formed to maintain some form of commerce between planets during the Gulag Plague. At least, that was their stated goal on paper. In reality they were a junta that, most times, was barely above that of a common pirate in terms of how they operated, separated only by their innate wealth and technological advantages, which focused on starship designs not reliant on Hypermatter, which gave them a tremendous advantage over most starships in an era when Hypermatter was both rare and tremendously expensive, which severely limited and restricted travel for most. They abused this advantage to engage in extortion, racketeering, bribery and murder of both witnesses and rivals and for a time were considered untouchable due to the crisis. This ended when one of their under the table privateering operations resulted in the death of a high ranking Czerka Official. Even during the Plague Era, Czerka still wielded immense power, and, having tired of an upstart that had at last proven they were too much trouble to tolerate even as a competitor, organized a massive assassination campaign of the top GPECC executives, wiping them out and taking their assets. Czerka's control over all GPECC designs ended 21 years ago during a break in at the data center they were stored in. Evidence from the subsequent investigation indicated an unknown Jedi had broken in via help from a mole. The investigation closed without conclusive results, leading the media to dub the incident "The Winter Jedi Scandal.". GPECC technical schematics mysteriously leaked into the Holonet just last year, allowing for any faction to use GPECC's rare designs in limited fashion, though some designs are considered lost tech that must be located in a working example to be better understood

RATIONALE

No one person or faction owns GPECC assets. Surviving examples of their technology turn up sometimes Given the totality of the original corporation's annihilation, no royalties need be paid when using their designs...Nobody would be willing to sue on their behalf, and nobody is left alive to collect.
