DESCRIPTION: Chrome’s helmet would be better described as a personal, portable computer with protective capabilities. Its face-shield is made from a thick layer of dark, tinted Glasteel wired to display images; holograms; and graphics on its surface. The helmet itself is capable of accessing, receiving, and transmitting messages on the Holonet, and recording and capturing images and voice memos, although getting a hold of any information not already released to the public relies on the wearer’s ability to slice.

The outer shell of the helmet is made from Durasteel molded to give it its shape, with two circular compartments made of Nutorium and Glasteel attached to the side plates. The whole thing is coated with a layer of Brass, giving it a shiny, polished look. The interior of the helmet is lined with a thick padding of foam, which absorbed impact and cushioned the fragile technology inside. Majority of the wiring could be accessed from the back of the helmet to allow for easy maintenance.

The helmet was made for Chrome, a portable a.i., and thus the helmet was designed in a way that fitted Chrome’s unique technological form. The helmet had to be wired to a separate android body to obtain power and to function, and was controlled using Chrome’s thoughts. Its abilities complemented that of Peron, Chrome’s deceased companion; and could also be used to scan and give basic information on its surroundings, as well as recognize facial patterns, making it a useful tool when adventuring or bounty-hunting.

There were limits to the helmet, however. It wasn’t a supercomputer and could not be used to calculate complex Mathematics. It also required a stable connection to be able to access the Holonet, but information stored and recorded could still be used. The wiring was sensitive to EMP’s and other attacks that would mess with it that, when hit, limited its use to purely protection. The files stored relied on a competent security system, which would deter amateurs and those not as experienced, but was still vulnerable to slicers with the right skills. The helmet itself was strong, sturdy, and could withstand a fair amount of attack and damage, but was in no means invincible. It possessed the same weaknesses as regular durasteel armor, and while it did look fancy, it was not superior in means of protection.

Great looking sub. Just a small reminder that the scanner won't automatically know what everything is even with the holo-net hookup!

Approved.
