Description: The Ghian-type projects a thermal shield, a high-end shield. Unlike molecular shields, it does not absorb the energy of incoming attacks. It has functionality comparable to standard deflector shield generators in the sense that it can repel both energy attacks and physical attacks. Merely respectable against physical attacks (i.e. warheads, mass drivers), it is much more impressive against energy weapons (i.e. turbolasers, ion cannons). The shield is invisible unless struck, at which point it flares green.

(+) Twice as strong against energy attacks as normal ray shields (or ray shield component of standard deflector shields).
(~) Strength against physical attacks is comparable to standard particle shields (or particle shield components of standard deflector shields).
(-) Pricey; meant for elite vessels (limited production or less).
(-) Physical weapons (i.e. warheads, mass drivers) cannot be fired while shields are up. Likewise, small craft cannot be launched.
(-) If shields are dropped, a recharge period of several minutes must elapse before shields can be raised again.

The Ghian-type is available in civilian-grade, military-grade, advanced, and redundant varieties, for any size of starship.
