The desolate frozen wastes of Rhen Var gave way to the jedi temple, Matsu was there with her researchers and team. Working on the ancient citadel as they slowly were fixing it up and creating a section with holoemitters to mirror their holodeck and astrometrics suites. Skilled engineers within the jedi making the area more secure compared to the broken roofs and walls they had before. THe harshness of the winter on the plnet as she had worked with Abbi on it and Leigh going in for more.

The sound of her chrono going off while she looked from the holo map room showing the world and Matsu looked at the workers they had here. The lower levels of the ruins unexplored and being checked room by room as she turned to look as a new crop of students coming for a history lesson. "Welcome initiates to Rhen Var one of the newer worlds and temples of the jedi." She offered a smile ot them while letting the holomaps around them activate showing the academy and ruins.

"Around you is the world and..." Her hands came up as she was able to shift the map room they were in zooming back to show the landscape and then backwards even more to show the planet and system. The ships in orbit from the monitoring stations that were providing more and more information. "You are all about to enter a new world, this is the map room, the place where you will be able to be taught and search on a computer the size of the room." The real time and search limited to a point.

She looked at the students there and raised an eyebrow while clasping her hands behind her back before the maps disappeared and she spoke. "You will also learn other parts of your training." She stood there and took her hand to her hip where the gleaming silver holts were a Z shaped disc saber that had interlocking sections at the tip. Then curved while she took it off her hip and moved to be in front of them while she planted her feet and threw the blade into the air.

As it spun out she spoke and the blade ignited in a twin snap hiss of silvery white light that divided into two discs as they moved into different directions spinning around the room. "It is here you will also be able to learn the more intricate and rare techniques of exotic saber combat. We have teachers to teach you as future jedi ways to counter and defend against them." The blades came back and connected as she caught them. "You will all have a chance to be the first of classes.... so any questions?"

It was always tough changing systems. At least this proved she was getting along in her studies.

A youngling in the room, watching the displays of another teacher, hung around in the back. She was listening carefully, but butterflies collected in her stomach as she watched. She was in no ways a lightsaber specialist, even if she did know two styles. Carona Totsari really didn’t have any questions, but even if she did she would have shut up. In the past, her questions were considered either dumb or rooted to the dark side or something. So, she shut up. Better to remain ignorant than get yelled at, according to what the experiences taught her. And so, she remained quiet in the back of the clan, arms crossed. She looked quite young compared the the rest of the younglings, almost ready to become padawans, in the room. However, even if she looked three years young, she was actually sixteen. She lifted her hand and bit her nails as hunger, once again, announced its visit as her stomach growled. The combination of nervousness and hunger did not settle well. However, even in her discomfort, Carona managed to take in complete understanding of the jedi master’s instructions and stay focused. She would not let a simple stomach bug get in the way of her training, nothing would get in the way, not again…

The light orange togruta listened as another student raised his hand. He was a blue Terrelian Jango Jumper with brown hair, “Yes, master, what are we doing today?” His name was George, and his curiosity got him into trouble within his class a lot. He and Carona used to be friends, as they were from the same clan, up until they were in their pre-teens. A lot happened, both were made fun of, George for being friends with her, and Carona’s constant pressure to be best of class got the best of them both. They still were acquaintances , but George did not like to open conversations with her. Carona pushed away the sadness of their lost friendship and paid attention to the jedi master’s words. Training was important, it was all Carona thought she was supposed to know. As the time went by in the room though, the mute felt her stomach worsening…

Matsu was looking over each of the padawan's that were there as she looked at the jumper asking the questions and moved between the students. She saw the Togruta and there was a rodian, then a human while she spoke. "Today you are going to learn a couple of things, recently we have discovered a series of tombs in the ruins below the ice and we have some tools for you to use and see what you can find." She offered a small smile with a grin on her face though the equipment was great for them and they had searched the rooms finding if there was anything dangerous and reinforcing them. Now the could serve as a more training room for them to practice in.

Matsi was leading the way as the tour continued and the building section was being constructed more, the dome being finished and more emitters being installed while she continued and led the tour into the sections of the temple and was getting more of a feel for each of them. Her hand tapping each on the shoulder while they were going past and she was dividing some of them into different groups. "You are each going to have groups, nothing special about them just random assortment and your goal will be to see what you can find within each room. We have your tool kits and some datapads for your use to keep track and to scan if you find anything."

She got done and the groups were uneven as she came to the younger togruta not tapping her shoulder but placing a hand on her shoulder while she spoke. "I am sorry, there is an uneven amount of you. You initiate can come with me if you like or we can rotate." Matsu offered her a smile though coming to the rooms and directing the groups inside with the waiting small packs and kits they could use to search while waiting for an answer but also getting to look around while smaller droids were going around and bringing information for the areas they were mapping.

Carona froze solid when she was asked to join the teacher because the teams were uneven. Yeah right, the togruta thought, she was probably told how advanced I am... she wants to monitor me.

The young girl turned to the jedi and nodded though, Okay, I'll come. she spoke telepathically.

Carona looked down for a moment to make sure her lightsabers were still straight on her belt. Straightening her shirt, she grabbed a needed kit, flung the pack over her back, and joined the jedi master.

Matsu looked at her and led the way into the room as the door closed. The sound of renovations from the droids drowned out a little more while the room they were in was still. The girl speaking telepathically had surprised her a little while she raised her eyebrows and spoke mirroring her. 'That is good, now the first step of any good excavation is to map your area.' She continued inside and there were old pots and pieces of wood from frames. The small piles of it in the floor and some more with discarded weapons from centuries past. Crates they had brought i and stored in different areas with equipment in them as well as some crystal forming in the ice.

Matsu led the way though and stuck a finger out for the padawan showing more how to map it in the air while she withdrew a brush and sosmall flags. "As you search and dig you map your progress and sift through each area. It can be a long and tedious process but this is how discoveries can be made." There was also the new discoveries they could make in sections of the world and innovations from work hard or exploring while Matsu brushed off and held up a small crystal. "And for those jedi who search it is possible to find a diamond in the rough, solari crystals that resonate with the lightside can be for you should you wish to try them out."

Matsu knew switching between speech and telepathy could give some a headache but she held her hand up for the padawan to come and join her in looking over the dirt and old debris. Her enjoyment showing on her face while the other students were getting the same from the skillful researchers she had here and shown how to use their kits. 'And sometimes there are other things long buried in the past in places like this. We have only scratched the surface of what was once here or what we might be able to find.' She kept her face with a friendly smile while wanting to see the padawan in action. She was confident and sure of herself it seemed.

Carona followed in fashion, walking towards the debris and starting to dig. As she searched through, the solari crystals she was taught of rang as something worth checking out. She already had two lightsabers though, and they were plenty enough. Even if one was passed down from her mother, she really wasn't a lightsaber user. She was more of a force user, even if she was limited in that area as well. She shifted through some rubbish, finding nothing yet, and reminded herself that she wasn't a padawan yet, so maybe it was okay that she didn't know everything.

Heck, Carona thought, this teacher probably thinks I'm a pre-teen who was bumped up several years; considering my size.

Once again, her stomach rumbled. It was getting worse, and Carona had to stop for a moment to look at the facts. She was nervous, she was hungry, what else? Carona shook her and went to work again - then froze. She realized that with all she was doing, she hadn't had any water since breakfast, which was indeed several hours ago. A sweat bead fell, and Carona realized there was a possibility of becoming dehydrated. She sighed, pushing it aside though. This was no time to worry, jedi despised the concept of worry after all. Even if Carona was physically handicapped, she would only bring it up if she developed a headache or something.

She blinked and looked back towards the jedi teacher, who looked quite confident. Hoping some form of conversation combined with this work would distract her from her tummy, she spoke telepathically again, So, what else can be found aside unique lightsaber crystals and lost artifacts?

Matsu watched the padawan and it was more curious while observing her actions. The small sound of her stomach in the near silent room came to the master while she was crouched there and popped quickly one of the small compartments on her belt that had some of the food cubes for emergency rations. She removed one of the bladders from a pocket of her coat that wouldn't make sound. Matsu took some of it out though offering it as she moved in a little closer to look at the padawan as she was speaking. 'Well there is always a chance of finding lost secrets of the past. I usually look for information to fill in gaps sometimes.'

She moved though to uncover a small section of the debris to show one of the mechanisms. 'And sometimes you simply find things to have fun with. The lower levels of this ruin are filled with treasures from many ancient worlds that were gathered.' Matsu pushed it down and the wall shook for a moment as it slowly opened revealing a torch lit pathway deeper into the ruins and down into the rooms at the lower sections of the mountain. 'Have a little bit of food and we can continue. By now the rest of the class will have found the passages in their room to take them to their chambers. They should be along the way to cataloging and identifying.'

She wasn't above admitting she had set this up, letting the students do more then just stand around and listen but discover she much preferred that idea while raising her eyebrows and letting the padawan eat while she rose up to her full height just a little bit taller then her. Motioning for her to follow and come along while she was motioning into the pathway with a smirk on her face before she slid the solari crystal into a pack. They were harvesting crystals as well as constructing sections to repair the ruins beyond just the map room. There were a couple in her pack but she was looking to get more from outside or in the ruins.

Carona''s eyes widened as she watched a completely new route open up. She stood there for a moment, then she followed her into the darkness.

The padawan activated her green lightsaber as a light. She looked around in a young amazement at the entire place. The nervous eater then went towards nibbling her ration like a bunny sawing through a big carrot. It was a bit of walking around and such, checking out the dark entryways. At a pile of debris just sitting around though, she shoved her remaining food in her mouth and raced towards it. she put the hilt of her weapon between her legs as she dug through with both, grubby hands. She expected to find nothing, as she found nothing like those crystals the jedi was talking about, but...

Her eyes widened on some gold looking object that shone beneath her green light. She pulled her wooden saber hilt back into her hands and opened her telekinetic communications to the jedi master, Master, I think I found something!

She once again drew her attention to the gleaming object, starting to dig with her remaining hand. It wasn't a light saber crystal, so what was it?

Matsu was walking with the girl, and stood a careful distance, that close walk but still giving personal space as she saw the girl eating and wondered when was the last time before she was digging in the debris. It raised the jedi masters eye up while the passageway door closed with the sounds of construction on the map room and the ruins being drowned out fully. Her wrist pad was still updating her as the droid worked and when the girl found something she looked at the golden icon gleaming in the light of the saber as she brought her hand up and slowly pulled at the ambient light.

Her palm slowly started to form a glowball as it swirled in her hand illuminating the object and she looked over it with a smile on her face. "Pretty, it looks like you found a pendant." She didn't grab it and take from from her instead motioning for her to put it on, it was her find and Matsu was moving down the passageway leading into another chamber while she looked over some of the sewers there. She was looking over some fo the walls and coming out into a large room as the chill came but there was also the things they had found. The sound of wind howling through the sections they were working on but ice caves needed more work.

'Now come along and you can tell me more about yourself, we have plenty of time and I like to know all who train under me.'

Carona smiled as she slipped the small pendant over her neck. For a moment, her lekku went wild in the vibrations, but she recovered in an instant, just in time to hear her mentor ask her to tell about herself...

Oh boy.

Carona lifted her saber as a glowy stick again, rejoining her mentor. She nervously "spoke." Um... I'm from Shili... the apprentice let out a laugh that appeared to be self abusing, Yeah, um... My mother was also force sensitive, but she wasn't the wisest of them. She was actually some type of darksider, one of my lightsabers actually used to belong to her. Not that I use it much, I prefer the one in my hand. She continued to look around at the dusty, moldy scenery, avoiding some eye contact, I myself have been brought up as a jedi. Th-the reason I always talk telepathically is I'm mute...

She blinked wildly, her nervousness making her stomach act up all over again. Maybe she just revealed too much? Um... enough about me?

Matsu was listening to her while she moved about. 'It is alright, when I was little I didn't really know how to speak. I was trained by an Imperial knights and then the jedi so I am not the best example of a normal childhood.' She had a look on her face while walking throughout it all. 'We will just have to find a way padawan to make you comfortable enough to enjoy being here and I shall just have to learn everythign I can. That is how friendships are made.' Plus she knew how to use some mental powers so the skills that Carona could develop would be a great thing to see. Now she was moving to give herself some room to search around the room.

Carona crossed her arms as the master drew away to search the room. Carona put her hands at her sides again, lightsaber lowered, I'm sixteen...

She was used to being called a "child" and "little." Even if she technically was a child still, "little" would still put Carona off - especially since, in size, she was little. She sighed and continued her search herself. She saw another massive heap of rubbish in one corner. She searched through it again, but this time there was nothing.

She decided to talk again, I'm enjoying it here so far though, everything's really exciting hands on! her free hand slipping into something mucky proved her point. The girl let out a (literally) silent chuckle as she waved the goo off. She had to admit, she hadn't had this much fun in a "training" exercise since... ever. She continued digging, I'm just not always the most social person out there. Carona gulped, feeling like this question would receive a backlash, but... something was differant about this teacher. Clearly, she was friendly and applied different learning methods than the teachers Carona was previously surrounded with. Maybe, if Carona plucked up what little backbone was left, she could say those words.

I've tried. I've tried being social with both students and mentors. Thing is, I look years below my age group, and I've been looked down on because of it. Whenever I try to voice myself, or what I think, about just about anything there's always someone waiting to backlash me. And, yes, I'm still learning. I get that. I pretty much suck in lightsaber combat, and my lack of force training is matched only by my high midiclorian count. I can be stupid. Is it so hard to... though... She sighed, falling silent for a moment. She felt like shutting off again, but she would finish what she started. Her stomach flailing, she spoke up again, I understand expectations must be laid, but often times it just feels like too much for me. I'm not going to particularly whine and complain or anything, not that I have already, but whether it be social or competitive I'm not the best person to be around, I admit it.

She had stopped digging in those words, hardly believing she even said them. Before anything else could happen though, a throbbing pain flew up in her head. She gasped and clenched it, dropping her lightsaber in surprise and realizing how much she had been sweating in the last fifteen minutes... Oh great, great time to get dehydrated and look pathetic, not that I already fit that mold...

Matsu listened to her and was careful in her mannerisms while she was paying attention to the padawans actions. Very well then time for method two... She said it to herself while sliding a mental shield up and walking over to place a hand on the girls shoulders with a smile on her face. "There will be not expectations padawan. I might expect things of you but I do not have a box to place you in and believe you'll fail." Because then she would have to count herself as a failure for a great deal of what she had done. "We are jedi, we are not perfect and we are not something that can be simply taught."

She placed a hand on the girls shoulder and was looking at her while the girl seemed to be sweating and shaking, dropping her saber as Matsu moved now and was kneeling near her with a bladder of water while she opened it and brought it to the girls lips. "Drink and relax your body." Matsu looked at her while holding a small smile on her face to offer kindness and respect. She kept it there to give her water to drink and was letting her body vibrate and pulse a little, the force energies dropping off of herself to revitalize and satiate the padawan while she siphoned at the pain to take the hunger and dehydration into herself.

'You must be more careful in the future padawan, if you are going to enjoy lessons like these. ONe needs to be careful of losing track of their bodies needs. Don't want you to be endangering yourself when I take you into a jungle." Matsu said it without hesitation because of the padawans there this was one she could teach, this was one who like her was a little odd and maybe a little broken. Something special like a diamond in the rough waiting to be found or shaped. SHe could teach Carona the force and how to defend herself at least a little bit before she sat down on the floor of the room with one hand glowing to give her energy.

Carona sighed in relief as she felt herself begin to heal up. Being told to watch out for her own body made her want to energy to facepalm. Her growth disorder should have already taught her that, but here she was... Carona shook her head a bit, looking towards her new teacher, Thanks. I'll be more careful in the future.

For several minutes, that seemed like hours to the teenager, the two simply sat there. Carona realized that the teacher was actually using a force ability to speed the healing process... she also looked a bit tired herself, if if her smile spoke nothing but cheerfulness and wisdom. Carona almost jumped at saying she didn't have to exhaust herself, but a sudden questioning held her back. Carona's youthful eyes shone in the brightness of curiosity as she asked one, simple question. Can I learn that?

Matsu looked at her as she was thinking about what could happen while she brought her hand back speaking. "Yes I can teach you, a jedi should have such skills." A smile on her face though while she held her arm out and rose up to stand there again. She was looking over the padawan while she spoke more. "The first step it to make sure you are able to handle the strain of healing another. You will want to practice healing yourself first. Sending the life energies of the force into your limbs to knit and mend, to strengthen your body." Matsu opened her palm while letting the force energies swirl in her palm for a moment and held her hand up. "Now when you feel able to do as I do, inhale and feel the force fill your lungs as you send it to your limbs and your hand."

Carona nodded, for the first time ever sporting a hint of a real smile, and then closed her eyes, concentrating. She was actually learning a new ability! She was jammed packed full of midiclorians - perhaps not as many as what the great Anakin Skywalker had long ago - but she sure had a lot. It was time to put her one of few strengths to use. She extended her skinny arm, opening her hand, and focused. Soon enough, her hand was glowing like her mentor's.

She waited a small time more, getting used to it so she didn't suddenly go wrong, then pulled her hand closer to her and completed her mentor's instructions. All her attention was on getting this right, it wasn't often she had an opportunity like this. Even so, her attention wasn't on why either, as much as on actually doing it. She was concentrating well.

As she felt herself strengthening throughout her limbs, a bit of excitement rose, almost causing her to loose her focus using the force. Maybe even the physical holdups caused by her growing disorder were improving. While it was doubtful, she never felt so much power in her arms and legs. She finished slowly, blinking her eyes open and watching her mentor. She lowered her arm, Like that?

She was looking at the padawan as she was working her force energies. A look upon her face though sensing what she could from the padawans hands. A look while she brought her hand up speaking. 'Yes you are doing well now your body might feel the strain but you will want to keep focus and steady your breathing." matsu was looking at her while she held it at her padawan's shoulder while she pressed and pushed at the energy to give it to the padawan with herself speaking again for a moment. "Now raise your hand and work to create a loop, it will allow you to send the energy into me as mine goes into you. Do it until you are able to channel the energy and power yourself and tell me. We have all the time in the day to practice."

Carona nodded and closed her eyes again. She focused. She sent the energy towards her mentor as she in turn sent some to the apprentice as well. This was abit harder, and Carona felt, as if there was was such a thing, a steady flow was evaded by a jumpy pattering. It crossed her mind several times to stop, but she already came this far! She let out a small sigh and pulled her concentration up... in a bit of time she maintained a smoother transition.

As the healing energies went back and forth, Carona smiled again, she was actually getting the hang on this! Now, while she could never get close to the term "over confident," some self confidence was somehow achieved. Maybe I can do this... so she kept practicing, feeling a lot calmer than she had first started at this new force ability. One problem though seemed to come up after a while though, and it was..

Master, I'm sorry, but my arm is a bit tired...

It was true. She was doing the motion with her arm for a while. And with her lack of proper muscle, alongside the side effects of her disorder, it was very hard to keep it up.

Matsu bit her tongue to prevent from giggling a little. She usually had padawans get frustrated because it was taking to long or because they were bored and wanted to get to th fighting but never... never had she had a padawan whose arm was tired. It endeared the girl to her more mostly because she didn't know what to really say, the girl would need to work as much as she could for her muscles and development... but pushing her to hard could seriously injure her. "Alright." She said it while moving her hand away and bowed her head. "You have done well padawan and shown yourself that you can do more, that you have the power within you." Matsu was smiling and offered an open arm so they could walk through the room and the girl if she needed it could lean on her. Going towards the large set of foors that led out to one of the landing area's and runabout shuttles. "So padawan, if I said you could go anywhere in the galaxy, anywhere at all? Where would you want to go?"

Carona accepted the help, leaning on her mentor but still putting some weight on a foot. She considered the words she said, about finding her potential. It allowed her to smile, even after her ending question was asked. The mute had come to enjoy spending time with this jedi, and questions of her being her official jedi mentor - when the time came - popped through her head.

Carona blanked out, eyes dilating innocently at the question though. ... I never really thought of it. I really don't go around to look at scenery and stuff. There have been some pretty neat looking planets in my holocron database, like Feluca. That place looks beautiful! But... she looked away, feeling a bit embarrassed on her closed minded answer, I'm more of an at home person. I'll open the window for fresh air, study data banks and web search, for all day if I get to - after finishing homework and stuff of course!

She bit her lip for a moment, then relaxed a bit more. She was surprising herself on how open she was today. She shrugged and continued, If to another planet though, I'd pick Feluca. It was an important battle place during the Clone Wars, wasn't it? Several major battles happened there. And it's never lost its beauty.
