BIOGRAPHY
Born to a middle-class family, Gerault Rush had a generally unremarkable childhood. It wasn't until he attended Coruscant University he truly began to distinguish himself.
Continually at the top of his class, he was a favorite of the professors and despised by his fellow students. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the Coruscant Law Review and quickly gained acclaim for his abstract analyses. Despite his class ranking and favorable status among the university faculty, his election for Student Body President was an astounding failure. His unpopularity became apparent to him here, but it didn't stop him from being the best he could be in his chosen field.
After graduating, he worked for the Coruscanti government as a foreign service officer. In that capacity, he worked with a number of governments, most significantly smaller than most urban planets. He worked in the Foreign Affairs Department headquarters as a civil service officer for two years before being promoted to the Coruscanti Legation on Cato Neimodia to serve as the diplomatic mission's chief diplomat. He remained at the post for four years before he received word that he was being considered for promotion to the Ambassador to Neimodia - a richer world and a higher rank to come with it. To his dismay, he found that he was not chosen for the posting. It instead was given to one of his former editors on the Coruscant Law Review.
The dismay was short lived though, as he was instead tapped for an even higher posting, albeit a more dull one. He was shocked to learn that his promotion was not withing the Foreign Affairs Department, but rather the Civil Affairs Department. Citing his degree in urban planning, statutory proficiency in the Coruscant Law Review, and government experience, he was appointed the Undersecretary of Civil Affairs for City Planning. Anywhere else, this would be seen as an insignificant position. This was Coruscant though, and the whole planet was a city. He was responsible for developing it all.
He enjoyed a lengthy tenure, before the Deputy Secretary of Civil Affairs had fallen ill and resigned his office to nurse herself back to health. Rush was chosen to be her successor. In a unanimous decision by the Galactic City Common Council, Gerault Rush was appointed to that office. As the number two official in the Civil Affairs Department, he helped manage the day-to-day operations of the department and advise the Secretary as necessary. He had proven to be a valuable tool, since shortly after the shakeup in City Hall he had been tapped not only to serve as the Secretary of Civil Affairs, but also as the Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs until an appropriate successor could be found.
Though he was well-versed in them, he remained detached from politics by choice. After his appointment to head two of the Coruscanti government's most important departments did he gradually become more prominent. Though he didn't necessarily believe in Coruscant First's goals completely, he agreed with many of the points it raised. After all, he was one of them now whether he liked it or not.
