Hello, Republic!

Since communication is Number One on the priorities list, I think it's a good idea for the members to have a direct line to the admins about suggestions for improvement of the forums, improvement of the faction, or perhaps questions on how the leadership team is operating things.

So, what I'd like to do is extend the invitation to PM me your questions, concerns, comments, suggestions, and curiosities about the faction and its handling. I will then address your message in this thread (if prudent) in order to keep the entire faction up-to-date and encourage a little more openness from us all.

Please note that some inquiries will not always be answered immediately, depending on their content and if the issue is not yet determined. And please keep your PMs courteous and non-vulgar.

Yay! Time to open some fanmail! Er...

Straight to the point. This one I wholeheartedly agree with.

I would like to see the faction admins more interactive with the other members.

No arguments here. Life can be busy for some of us, but I personally promise to do my best to keep things running and writing with the rest of you. We should all be here to RP, and I will try to commit myself better to being more visible, approachable, and openly threading with the faction collective.

At the moment, we have undergone a setback with Gir Quee's resignation from his staff position, but we will soon have that patched up with trustworthy and active leadership assistance!

How do I know who is on the Faction Admin team?

Take a look here! It's always accessible by clicking the "WHO DO I ASK?" button on the navigation bar.
While the republic is a IC democracy it does not mean that the faction OOC leadership has to discuss everything with all members. While bigger changes to the faction direction should be discussed in the open, members are generally here to just enjoy themselves. Couldn't it be better if the admins fed us more stories to work with?

I would agree with you for the most part. But I find that members being able to create some of their own facets really helps them get more motivated to participate. Perhaps we could be more directly authoritative to push things forward, but balancing that with transparency can be tricky. This is one of those things that you have to feel out and learn from mistakes.

The forums are in better shape now, but I still feel like they could use a little more work. Is it possible to clean them up and organize them some more?

We will be looking into condensing the forums and possibly removing the IC-specific forums soon. I have suggested that minimalism will help us look active and attract more activity. It would be more attractive if we RP outside the Republic forums and keep everything simple and streamlined.

Idea: Could we establish awards ceremonies with dominions and invasion? We could hand out medals for each victory, or host funeral processions and attach medals for bravery in defeat. It might help emphasize how proud we are to be in the Republic.

I think this is a great idea and we anticipate implementing it in the near future. Thank you for this contribution. :)

Create OOC advertisement for the faction. Go recruit actively.

While this is generally a good idea for most factions, the Republic is always the first faction a new member will encounter. It boasts the largest membership on the list and is oftentimes the first faction a member will form an opinion on--whether misguided or not. Faction ads may not have the same effect for us as they may for other factions.

However, it is worth noting that announcing improvements and new goals for the faction in the advertisements may help bring more people in when they better understand the overall storyline we are trying to develop. The Republic can seem busy to a newcomer and they may not see any solid plan for the faction right away. It may be worth spreading the word here and there.

I think we should promote more threads with our allies in the Mandos and the Silver Sanctum. Balls, ceremonies, training, and simple excuses to mingle with our major faction friends can help improve our reputation and increase participation.

This is a worthwhile endeavor to pursue. Historically, 'hangout' threads tend to die very quickly. Perhaps more tournaments and political couplings could be arranged between our faction leaders. It's certainly something I will be looking into.

Thank you for the feedback! It was good food for thought, and I hope we can hear more from creative minds interested in improving our faction every day. :)
