Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity: No
Production: Minor
Material: Droid Components
Classification: IV
Weight: 20kg
Height: 1m
Movement: Repulsorlift
Armaments: None
Misc. Equipment: (Sensors, scanners, shields, etc.)
  • Deflector Shield Projector
  • Portable Power Generator
  • Light Armor Plating
Description: The GE-DSD is a droid intended for use in open field engagements, or to protect an area surrounding a facility or high importance complex. Two droids are required to create a single deflector shield which stretches across a 150m radius from the point of creation. One droid controls the power generator, supplying the energy required to the second droid which projects the deflector shield, much in the same way as the Gungan deflector shield system, though on a smaller scale. The force-field is effective at stopping bombardment from artillery, energy and missile based weaponry, but does not prevent ground troops from moving into and out of the area.

Strengths:
  • Produces a deflector shield effective for protecting ground troops and artillery, or structures from sustaining damage.
  • Due to their small size, the droids themselves are difficult targets to destroy.
  • Armor protects them from small arms fire including light blaster pistols.
Weaknesses:
  • Requires two droids to maintain the deflector shield.
  • Both droids must maintain a 10 meter maximum distance to sustain the deflector shield, otherwise it will deactivate.
  • Droid is not protected from EMP.
  • Does not prevent ground troops for entering or exiting the force-field.
