PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Total ECM Package
The Shroud Countermeasure System is designed to be a robust software, sensor, encryption, and jamming suite; meant to serve as the last word in ECM warfare. It excels at jamming enemy comm frequencies, distorting or baffling enemy sensors and target locks, code breaking, and facilitating offensive cyberattacks to destabilize enemy subsystems.
  • Resiliant
The core of the system is built to resist physical damage, ion disruption, excess heat, and radiation. It also possesses advanced chipsets, which contain automated subroutines that defend the system from countering cyberattacks. Further, with its adaptive power generator matrix, the system’s impact on ship-board power grids is almost non-existent.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not a Stealth System
Although the Shroud system would rightly serve as a piece within a stealth ship’s apparatus, it does not in and of itself provide stealth capability. Its primary function is to distort, jam, infiltrate and disrupt on the battlefield that is cyberspace. While it is very effective at these functions, they are not absolute; as a target ship’s own systems can theoretically defeat these attempts and launch a counterattack. Further, an enemy’s target lock can be disrupted, but their sensors will still pick-up the host ship. An enemy ship may pick up the host, but its location could be shifted meters - if not kilometers off from its actual position. In short, while the Shroud misdirects - it does not blind totally.
  • Power Shunt
While the Adaptive Generator Matrix (AGM) was included within the Shroud’s design to reduce ship-wide power draw and increase system reliability, there is still a noteworthy flaw in this approach. The AGM is the primary means of power for the system, providing required power via the explosive reactions caused within most primary reactor cores. If the AGM were to fail, the entire Shroud system would go offline - leaving the host ship vulnerable to cyberattacks. Power shunts are installed to connect the Shroud directly to a ship-board reactor as a failsafe, but require manual activation in this unlikely scenario - resulting in a delay of however long it takes for someone to perform this manual override.
DESCRIPTION

In the galaxy today, the majority of manufacturers and nation-states are focused on the advancement of conventional weapon systems. Yet far fewer entities consider the need for indirect or unconventional counterparts to their turbolasers and missile batteries. The GCS-EM “Shroud” ECM Countermeasure System is meant to fill this need as a robust and reliable solution. In an all-in-one package, the Shroud is capable of jamming enemy comm frequencies, baffling passive sensor scans and target locks, code-breaking enemy encryption, and facilitating devastating cyberattacks to further disable enemy subsystems via a suite of advanced and comprehensive hacking tools - all through an aesthetically pleasing holographic user interface for ease of use.
