Name: Gavaroth Spaceport

Classification: Spaceport

Location: Trevel’ka, Gavaroth District

Affiliation: The Underworld, Rekali the Hutt

Description: Trevel’ka is a combination of slums and shantytowns that grow into one another, engulfing the planet hole. As such the planet is usually divided into “Districts” that are named after significant landmarks. Arguably the most significant type of landmark on world is a spaceport. To those trapped underneath the thumbs of the gangs it represents hope of escape, to those subjugating the world under it’s criminal thumb it is an avenue for growth. A way to get better spice, weapons, and talent onto the planet. Gavaroth Spaceport, the namesake of the Gavaroth District, is no different.

Taken over by Rekali the Hutt and the Underworld Gavaroth Spaceport serves as his greatest resource on the planet. An array of twenty towers that sport fifteen hanger bays and a rooftop landing platform each it can house 320 ships. While not especially large for a spaceport on a planet of 35 billion, it is large enough to house most of the spacers daring enough to come in, and most of the populace wealthy enough to get out. The large majority of the hanger bays would be classified as a “Landing Field” under spaceport classifications there are a few that offer enough services to be qualified as “Limited Services.” Rekali the Hutt makes sure to maintain around half a dozen at “Standard” quality, for himself and any valued business associates.

Docking fees are cheap, and customers are normally left alone. There is a minimal “customs” check, but the employees don’t really care what you have so long as you don’t cause trouble. Logs are maintained for record and scouting purposes only. No personal weapons or spices are ever seized, but people looking to do business in bulk often have to pay a “tax” in order to sell their products in Gavaroth. The employees, while not exactly gang-bangers, know their paychecks come from the Underworld and report on anything they find suspicious, like say a lightsaber. They often don’t care that much however, and are usually amenable to keeping info to themselves or skipping the check altogether if the repulsorlifts are properly greased for them.

The Spaceport’s defenses are some of the better ones on Trevel’ka, which is to say pretty crappy. Each of the towers had an array of point defense emplacements and most of them had a few capital-grade Ion Blasters. The Point Defense emplacements are just to keep any wandering missiles out, while the Ion Cannons occasionally see duty from locking down ships that want to leave without their dues. Overall however the spaceport is not a military installation, and wouldn’t be able to repel an organized military force.

As for daily life the station has it’s fair bit of hole in the wall food joints, cantinas, and salvage shops. The former two are often riddled with all sorts of games, and a contact that can cut a deal to sell anything, or perhaps even anyone. Salvage shops often contain nothing more than junk, but a good mechanic might be able to find rare parts of old gulag tech that simply aren’t carried anymore. Their most satisfied customers are often ‘wrenchers’ looking for parts to fix up retro-speeders, droids, or freighters.

Day to day operations are usually overseen by one of Rekali the Hutt’s two Lieutenants, Radok and Kijo. They have people obtain and organize information on those coming in and out, and any potential business opportunities in the port. Once this information is gathered one of the two typically reviews it and dismisses or puts a plan into action on how to expand or defend their business interests. While ultimate authority of the port is Rekali the Hutts he is not a micromanager, and trusts his people to manage his affairs in his absence. That’s not to say that things are perfect, but they’re usually in good enough shape that the Hutt can worry about taking care of other affairs.

Intent: To build a set piece for the Underworld, and help flesh out their operations and the lore around Trevel’ka
