Private Gala's Secrets

"It's not fair. Why did mom and Aris get the Bastion?" Vera asked while she sat on the shuttle with Kahlil. They were currently heading to the planet Gala, where Valery had been leading one of the larger campaigns during the times of the Old Republic. But it was also on Gala that more artifacts of her past remained. They had no idea what exactly they could find out there, but it made for a fun and interesting little adventure.

Hopefully, with something to bring back home and show off to Valery and Aris, who were going on an adventure of their own as well. Next time, they would likely swap and Vera would go with Valery, while Aris and Kahlil could do something too.

It made Noble adventures always fun!

"Can I try to fly?" She then asked out of nowhere, her eyes shifting to the controls while they were breaking atmosphere.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Because Aris hasn't had a lot of time to be on the Bastion." It was their home, after all. All of them. Less so now, but there was no denying that for Kahlil at least, it was. It'd be good for Aris to at least experience that. Though, he did flash a grin as Vera seemed rather eager to get her hands on the control again. Just like before, huh? Well, he wouldn't say no to that. At least not in a ship that wasn't the Bastion anyway.

"Yes. Let's see what you've learned, young Padawan, mm?"

"Yeah, but mom is scary when she flies the Bastion," Vera said with a giggle while she stared out into space, hoping to be the one to fly them everywhere soon. She was getting older and no longer just Initiate Noble. She had her braid resting over her shoulder, a training lightsaber on her belt and she was wearing her proper robes. Padawan Vera Noble was ready for this mission, even though it wasn't all that serious.

Her imagination just turned it into a wild adventure, like those she saw in her shows.

"Yes. Let's see what you've learned, young Padawan, mm?"

"Really?!" She sounded surprised but quickly grinned wide and wobbled her way over to the pilot seat. She plopped down in her dad's lap, grabbed the controls, and took a deep breath. She got this — she had seen Mom and Dad do it so many times before, and she paid good attention when it came to the fun stuff.

She flicked a few switches, readying the shuttle for atmospheric flight, and as soon as they dropped from Hyperspace, Vera began to fly them down at a proper angle.

"Can you help with landing? That's still scary and I don't wanna hit anything like mom will with the Bastion." She had already seen the damage her mother was doing in a vision, and well, now Dad knew too.

Kahlil_Div2.png

".. Did she now?"

Kahlil smirked a little as he glanced down to Vera. She certainly knew things he might not, but to know that Valery had scratched up the Bastion just meant something he could us against her later. Not that he'd say as much to Vera. Instead, he just chuckled. And helped to get the ship down. While letting her control it, actually. He'd get the landing gear out, but she was the pilot for now.

"Just take your time. You've got this."

"Mhmm, and she's coming up with excuses even though you always know," Vera said with a chuckle. She understood the way things worked between her parents a lot better nowadays, and it was funny to her. Mom was very silly and fun, and Dad always teased her about it and made Mom laugh again. That's what Vera liked the most — seeing her mother, father, or siblings laughing and smiling.

Vera then focused on bringing them down, believing her dad was doing a lot more than he really was. It gave her confidence and that resulted in a very smooth landing, especially for someone her age. She smiled happily and hit the right combination of buttons and controls to even power down the engines.

Dad had taught her that one not long ago.

"We did it! Better than mommy!" Vera laughed. "Thanks for helping!" She hopped out of her seat, straightened out her Jedi tunic, and smiled at her father.

"Are you ready, Master Noble?" she giggled.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Don't be too mean to your mother." Kahlil snickered none the less, gently patting the top of Vera's head once they were up and moving from the controls. She was right, it was a bit better than mom sometimes. But that would've been on a incredibly bad day, not the normal. Valery was still quite the pilot after all. He folded his hands behind his back shortly after though, straightening out. They were here for family matters, but they were still Jedi.

"Do you remember where you saw it last? What we're here for?"

Vera smirked in a way awfully similar to her mother whenever she was messing around and looked at her father, "I won't be mean but we did great!" There was no denying that and teasing her mom, who had just damaged the Bastion, was a fun extra this one time. She knew that Valery was a great pilot, especially in her fighter, so it was all just jokes.

Jokes she knew Kahlil was going to make too once they got home.

"Mhmm, I did my homework!" She grabbed his hand with her own and started tugging him along to the holo-table to, in true Noble fashion, give him a short briefing about the mission.

"I saw hills and people there and I looked it up and saw they have hill people!" Vera exclaimed and zoomed in on villages built into the hills of the planet.

"We should go there, Master Noble," she said with another happy giggle.

Kahlil_Div2.png

Homework, huh?

Kahlil glanced over the table before smirking just a bit. Yeah, that seemed very much like her mother, wasn't it? A full on briefing. .. No, not as in depth. A Vera briefing, then. He nodded once, glancing over the display before looking out towards where they'd be walking to. The Hill People, huh?

"Then that is where we'll go. What are we looking for, exactly, though?"

Vera made sure her dad was listening. Just like her mom, she always prepared her briefings and she wanted to show it off to her dad. Valery had long learned he'd just tease her about briefing mode, but to Vers this was entirely new and so exciting! She had learned how to project maps and even zoom in and highlight different things.

Mom had helped her with it, just so she could surprise her dad today.

"Mommy and other Jedi helped the Hill people stop the Sith from capturing the village. It was important because it would have let the Sith surround the big cities if they broke through!" Vera grinned and zoomed in on the village, which seemed to have an ancient statue of a familiar Jedi built in the center of town, somewhere close to statues of their founders.

"If we start here, we can find out where she went. Mom said we might find old stuff she used to fight! Or even a holocron!"

Kahlil_Div2.png

A holocron, huh? Kahlil rubbed at his chin a little, smiling. He wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind lesson Valery herself had stored away on one here. Which meant something to possibly make fun of her with. He grinned wide at the thought, smirking down towards Vera. Did she know exactly what Kahlil was going to do now? Probably not. That was fine, though. "Then let's head that way. Maybe mom has a rumor or two about her as well."

"I know that grin!" Vera narrowed her multi-colored eyes at her dad and watched him closely, "You said no being mean to Mom!" She knew that he was just going to tease her mother, and Valery always loved it, but this was a chance for her to see through her dad and call him out. It was fun to be a little cheeky!

Something she had from both of her parents.

"I hope we find a lightsaber! Or something else cool!" Vera hopped and began guiding her father away from the ship, and towards the rolling hills where the Hill people lived. "You just want rumors to make mommy blush again." She had that little hehe look on her face and reached for his hand to hold it as they walked.

A habit she couldn't really shake.

"Do you think they might have nice snacks, dad?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"You know me too well, Little Star."

Kahlil chuckled and shook his head. He wasn't going to deny it. She was right. He absolutely was looking for reasons to make fun of her mother. But that's all he was going to say on it. There were some things Vera didn't need to know, after all. Instead, he looked ahead, nodding. They had quite the walk to make, but they'd get there soon enough.

"Likely, but that's why you pack ration bars. We don't expect people to feed us, Padawan. But I'm sure they make delicious food regardless."

"I do," she said, her eyes bright and wide while she looked up at her father. Recently, both her parents had allowed her to come along on more of these little adventures. None of them involved real risk or danger beyond the risks that naturally came with traveling the Galaxy, but Vera was clearly loving it. She was starting to feel like she was a real Jedi, like the ones from her shows.

Like Mom and Dad.

"I knowww, I asked because we have to learn about other people, right? So the food is important too." She nodded, as clever as her mom with disguising what she really wanted. Vera wasn't going to make demands or ask, but she was hoping they had nice snackies she could get her hands on.

"Dad?" Vera asked after a moment, as they approached the hills together. "Can I come on more missions with you? I wanna help more and it's really fun!"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil snorted.

He didn't make a big deal of it, rather seemed to pretend he hadn't and continued on, but he couldn't help himself after hearing just how similar Vera was to her mother. "Yes, and no. You'll have your own Master soon, and they'll be the ones in charge of training you and taking you on missions like this. We can still have our own of course, but once you're old enough that's how it's going to be."

He glanced to her, smiling softly.

"Do you understand why?"

Vera pouted.

The most fun and exciting thing in the Galaxy was going on adventures with Mom, Dad and her siblings, but now she was going to have to go with other people? Maybe if it was one of her parents' Padawans or someone else she knew, that it'd be fun too, but it was also a little scary. What if they weren't as nice to her?

Vera squeezed her dad's hand and let go to look up at him, "Is it because it's not fair if you and mom teach me everything? Will other Jedi get jealous?" Vera asked and blinked. That made sense to her - her parents were the most awesome Jedi.

"I still wanna come with on missions with you though..."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"No, because your mother and I will only end up limiting your training and experiences." He knew himself well enough to know that he would be overprotective to an extreme level. Even now he wasn't too sure he wanted to let her out and about as freely as they were. The Hill People seemed peaceful from everything he had looked into, so clearly that meant they weren't going to need to be on edge.

He was anyway.

"Being a Jedi is the path you chose, yes? It means we're going to have to separate."

Vera practically lunged at her father and wrapped both her arms tightly around his leg to keep him close, even if just for a short moment. She knew she couldn't always be with her parents — even now there were training exercises at the Temple that kept her away from her family for a bit. She just preferred to be close, and the idea of separation was one she hated. Especially after being separated from him for so long.

After a long moment of just holding tightly, and definitely not letting go willingly, she did look up with a brave smile.

"Okay but not today, right? And I still sometimes want to come with you or Mom." She could accept sometimes being separated, but she needed her missions with the family too.

Or, at least, plenty of time with them.

"What if I see scary visions when I'm not with you?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil paused at that before turning to her. Smiled as he crouched down to gently pat the top of her head. That was something to warry about, at the end of the day, but that's also why it was important that she work with another. All he wanted to do now was keep her safe and secure, as any father should. But instead he ruffled her hair. "That's why you'll have a Master. Someone who you can trust to help you, but not by just keeping you safe. They'll teach you how best to handle your visions. I promise."

Only after her father made the promise that her future Master would help, Vera let go of his leg and looked up at him. She smiled a little from the pat on her head and gave him a quick hug. "It's a bit scary to have a Master and be home less," Vera admitted, and really, that was the entire source of what was going on right now.

She didn't feel comfortable being away from home for long. If her parents were close, she felt safe and she felt comfortable knowing that they were safe.

"It will be fun too and I wanna be a Jedi like you, but I am also going to miss you lots if I'm not home." She pulled back and looked at her dad with a bright smile.

"That is okay, right?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"That's always okay, little star."

Kahlil smiled warmly, hugging her close. Gave her a squeeze. He wanted to keep her close all the time if he could, but that'd mean all kinds of problems for her training. Right now though? It wasn't time for that. She was going to be home for a while longer. So he stood up, flashed her a grin after a moment.

"We don't have to worry yet, though. So lets focus on finding whatever might be left over from Mom here, yeah?"
