Galactic Republic Weekly News

A long week-end for many if us – myself included which could mean more time to spend on CHAOS or less.

But on to the news. I’ll start by saying that the Dominions are really progressing well. I’ll not link them here, but if you go to the GR ‘home-page’ you’ll see them on the left-hand side. I suspect at least one will conclude before the week-end is over.

And make sure you check out the various skirmishes and if you’re looking for something a little different, here’s a link to a thread about creating a planet.

Continuing the theme of sharing knowledge each week, here are three helpful hints for you. Firstly if you’ve stumbled across this, did you know you can get notified every time a Weekly News is published? Well you can and the lovely pic below shows where you need to click to be notified.

The next bit of advice is for Padawans specifically – as I’ve seen this a lot on the boards recently. Dark-Jedi are not Light-sided Jedi. Meaning they are – in the Jedi Order’s eyes at least – no better than the Sith. So asking them for training is never a great career move. :)

Finally we often get asked about Invasions and how they work, so here is a 101 on them:

1. Allies – if you’re not an active member of the GR (i.e. a member of the Faction) then you can only participate as an ally. Sometimes no allies are permitted, often a maximum number are allowed. Typically the attacking Force makes the recommendation for which option.

2. Usually we’re limited to a set number of characters per writer. And each character must not only be a member of the Faction, they typically have to have been a member for at least a month prior to the Invasion starting (a date is always given) and they must be active (this usually means involved in a Dominion/skirmish/development thread/mission/training.

3. More often than not objectives are set. The FA teams decide at the end who won each objective. If they can’t agree, an RPJ is asked to come in and adjudicate.

5. Typically Invasions last two weeks – but can be extended

6. NPCs are often permitted but have to be declared in opening posts (and are often limited anyway)

To end this week, I’m always keen to answer any questions you have or explain aspects of the game, so if you have any ideas for future Weekly News updates, please let me know. And the same goes for any ideas you have. Just post it below or send me, Kian or Sera a PM.

So, finally, all that remains for me to say is…you stay classy Galactic Republic.
