Unlike its predecessor, the GFDF is not a sprawling peacetime force but a a centralized, expeditionary military forged from the veterans and surviving assets of the GADF.
It exists for one paramount purpose: to ensure the survival of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances by maintaining secure lines between its remnant worlds, projecting decisive power to defend critical systems, and serving as the unifying shield behind which the Federation rebuilds.
The High Council exercises oversight, but operational authority is vested in the Office of the Supreme Commander, a role that has evolved from bureaucratic leadership to frontline strategist.

The Galactic Federation Marines are the sword of orbital authority. As the Federation's dedicated naval infantry, they specialize in ship-to-ship boarding actions, orbital drop assaults, and securing hostile landing zones.
They are the first onto an enemy deck and the first to set foot on a contested world, fighting in the deadly void where the Fleet ends and the ground war begins. Marines live and die by the hulls of their ships, forming an inseparable bond with the Fleet that delivers them into the crucible of combat.
