Friendly Saber Practice [Selena]

Hion lumbered into the training room and stretched. His massive whale-like proportion filled up a good deal of space. He'd requested some lightsaber combat practice from one the Blades. Hion himself wielded a giant lightsaber, also known as a greatsaber, or a light club. His preeminent physical strength made him an excellent candidate for the Djem So form, which he promptly became rather adept at. He did not hold much finesse with it, rather, he relied on his physical abilities to overpower opponents. Coming in at 850 pounds and just under 7'2", Hion didn't find many who could match him in raw strength.

Humming to himself as Herglics often did, his low bass resonating in the room, Hion fiddled with his greatsaber. He dialed down the power of the blade until it was on par with the training sabers used. If it hit flesh it would leave a hot welt, but it would not cut. He then sat down on the floor and waited for the arrival of @[member="Selena Halcyon"].

Selena moved through the temple with ease, each step even and measured. Her white robes just barely touching the marble floors. The long staffed lightsaber hilt lightly bounced on her hip as she moved. She seldom practiced in the temple or the training rooms therein but today she had been requested to practice with a padawan. She had found the request odd to say the least. In fact, she was pretty sure that she would not be allowed to have another padawan of her own, they had a tendency to die to tell the story short. So the idea of even working with one in any form of training or practice was strange to her. But she accepted the duty none the less without any questioning. Not like she had personally killed those previous padawans, so a duel posed them no threat.

When she walked into the room she was kind of surprised to see the large form of the padawan. He certainly did not look like a padawan, but then again a padawan was seldom that large. In fact, she had to look at the door again. She kind of questioned how he even got into the door actually, it seemed like they would not... well maybe he could fit in. Evidently he did... Oh well. Anyways! She took a few steps forward and bowed to the padawan as was courtesy. "Shall we duel?"

Lots of things were questionable about Hion's size: how he got in doors, how he sat down at tables, how he fit into his clothes. The answer was: very slowly. And gently. And with not a small amount of embarrassment. Talking about one's size was an easy way to make a Herglic shuffle uncomfortably. Hion's hum ceased and he stood to his feet as Selena entered the training room with considerably less difficulty than his own entrance.

The newly Knighted Jedi, for a Knight he now was, even if not many yet realized this, bobbed his head up and down toward Selena. "Greetings, Knight Halcyon. Yes, yes, well, rather to the point you are. Hauum. A most esteemable quality, I believe. Yes, I can tend to ramble at times myself. Troublesome habit. One of many." A smile split his blubbery face exposing great lines of big, white teeth. He smelled of fish and ocean and his voice struck a harmonious bass.

The greatsaber sprung to life with a snap-hiss. A gigantic bar of blue extended. Big. Like everything else about Hion. Big words, big body, big weapons.

"I shall attack you then, if you will be so gracious as to point me out where I go wrong I will be most appreciative. Hauum."

Hion thundered forward. His steps caused the floor to shudder beneath his considerable weight. He struck in an overhead blow toward Selena's head, his reach far exceeded hers both in arm and in blade, but there was nothing subtle or strategical about his attacks. Just strength. And lots of it.

If Selena had a genuine sense of humor she likely would have laughed. Actually, she probably would have faked a laugh in any sort of setting, but this was a duel. The Shadow did not need to put on one of the more normal faces she wore in order to make people more comfortable with her presence. After all, many found a stoic, distant figure hard to cope with so she tried to ease that most of the time, even if it was just a front. And even then it was not all that compelling among Jedi.

His lightsaber was imposing, the concept of a greatsaber was not unknown to her but it was definitely uncommon. Most races just could not practically wield one. So to see one was a treat. His move was quick in a way, the kind of growing speed. The ground shaking was quite interesting to say the least, and she somewhat wondered how the floor would handle that. Selena liked this. Her own movements took her to the right, her lightsaber hilt held in both hands over her head. It turned on, revealing the silver blade, and let the attacking blade slide down it past her shoulder. The moment it cleared her shoulder, the switch was flipped and it turned off.

Using her right foot as a pivot foot she spun around, taking her hilt into her right hand alone. Once her left foot hit the ground, it became her pivot foot. The spin from this took her back towards facing the Herglic and then her arm came around with blade reignited and aimed at the calve of her opponent.

Hion's great big black eyes watched as his opponent danced about the room. It was a lot of maneuvering. Hion preferred simple stuff. Like smashing things. Or stomping things. However, her maneuvering had managed to put her at an angle where she could attack his calf. Of course, during her spinning movements and pivots, Hion had time to recover swinging his gigantic blade. Removing one hand from the blade to give his swing increased speed, he swung it down and slightly behind him, blocking the silvery blade. Their lightsabers met with a crackle and the smell of ozone began to fill the room, mixing with Hion's pervasive ocean smell.

The giant easily batted aside her blade. Continuing his momentum, he moved her blade and his up and around so that her blade now faced the opposite side of her body, while his was on the inside of her guard. Her blade was now trapped under his. His superior strength giving him all the advantage in this. He swung his blade straight in for her exposed chest.

The contact was hard. He was strong, but a lightsaber having no weight gave it less kick than one would expect. As her arm started to come across as the Herglic did a full rotation with a blade, she debated ever so briefly turning off her lightsaber. It would give him wasted movement, and take her out of its control. But that could leave her open for a fraction of a second before the blade would spring back to life. Really, as much as her style did involve a lot of the blade turning off and on again, she did not have to do so constantly and between every strike. Really, that was just dangerous.

She got where he was going with this though. Opening up her guard, striking in. Elementary stuff. But there was a reason it was basic, because it worked. Her blade was only trapped in so far as it was under the greatsaber. In fact, it still had plenty of options to move though. Blocking however was out of the question though. So she did something odd. And really would not have worked well if her opponent was not so much taller than she was. She dropped, kind of. Her left knee bent, but her right leg moved out. Ducking her underneath the attack. She then pivoted on her left toe, and darted away. Selena swept her lightsaber behind her self as she moved, roughly at knee level.
