Intent: A computer chip to help future Orion Corporation drones differentiate between friendlies and hostiles.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: The Orion Corporation
Model: N/A
Affiliation: The Galactic Republic
Modularity: No
Production: Production: Mass-produced
Material: Printed circuit board, electrical components, transmitter, GPS

Description:
The friendly fire prevention chip is a very simple and basic idea. Effectively, it is a micro transmitter attached to a micro GPS. The GPS is used to find the location of the user / chip and the transmitter is used to relay this information to the Orion Corporation drones that may be utilised during the warfare. The transmitted information will be read and processed by the drone itself instead of having to rely on the FFPC to perform this task. Because of this simplicity, the chip is able of being extraordinarily small (only 30mm²) and is therefore capable of fitting into any armour system / other equipment being used on the battlefield, without effecting weight, functionality or manoeuvrability. The chips size also allows for extremely easy mass production. This is particularly important as the Orion Corporation hopes to provide this piece of equipment to all of the soldier within the Galactic Republic Military.
The size also limits the ion and EMP protection capable of being fitted. This means that if the chip is hit by any ion or EMP weaponry, any drones in the area will not be able to differentiate the user of the chip from the hostile; allowing for friendly fire to occur. The chip will also require constant satellite support to ensure that the GPS works and transmits the correct data. If the data is not sent the drones may not be able to distinguish between allied and hostile forces.

Wouldn't this require satellites and such to actively monitor the chips on each planet that they are used on?

I guess satellites would be required to allows the GPS to work.

Should I add this to the submission or post another submission for said satellites?
