Raises an Eyebrow
Exile.
It suited no nation, let alone Vemric himself. He had to swallow his legendary pride and accept the sanctuary given by the Republic to the Confederacy after the sudden attacks on them from two fronts. The loss of Rothana was a heavy pill to swallow.
Yet he vowed one thing - the Confederacy would endure.
However long it took.
Months had passed since their exile.
Jas Katis
and his men were growing restless and the few Parliamentary members holed up on Christophsis were quietly murmuring about double standards. The Sephi was hard-pressed to disagree, yet he had to keep his marbled face within the Republic Senate - for the safety of those that rely on him to act on their behalf.
That didn't mean he was idle.
New allies had to be made and where better to start than with the new Archduke of what was left of Geonosis? The more droid and military foundries, the better. The Confederacy had been careful not to damage their foundries when they had punched holes through the hives almost a year ago. They had left some of the Geonosians alive as well - it wouldn't do to wipe an entire species from the Galaxy after all. Besides, this new Archduke made some more pleasing noises than the previous one.
So Vemric made his way to Geonosis' orbit, where the Archduke had put his command centre while they rebuilt the planet below. The Requiem made its usual grand entrance into the orbit, escorted by two cruisers for extra safety.
"Last time we were here in this ship, it was was laying waste to the surface." Miles remarked.
"They had been asking for it back then. These are different times now and we are dealing with a new governor." Vemric said calmly as the Geonosian sphere came into view with the planet as backdrop.
"Let's hope this one is different. Letting loose the Armed Forces now and they will end up wiping a species from the Galaxy with the mood they are in."
"Indeed. But stay close regardless. If you have to let loose the orbitals, do it."
"Yes, Sir."
Before long, Vemric and some of the personal guard Jas had assigned to him for this visit, made their way to the command sphere while Miles remained on the Requiem. The great battlecruiser was idle, but she wasn't placid in the least.
Stepping onto the command ship, he was then escorted by some Geonosians toward the council chambers where the Archduke currently found himself. Vemric's tall frame had to fold double to duck beneath the doorframe in order to step into the chambers. When he finally straightened again and spoke, he was cordial - a tone rarely heard from him. He had to learn to placate a lot of people lately.
"Well met, Your Eminence. I trust you know I am here in peace?"
