Forging a Therapist (dev thread)

Gray watched as his designers got their equipment set up and ready to go. The crate of beskar he had picked up for the armor was over by the forge and the crate containing the silicar was near it. They were getting ready to make the custom order of armor for his client. He had invited them to join him and watch if they wished. The main reason though was to get the measurements for the armor. They hadn't gotten them yet, and they would need them to make sure the armor fit just right.

Gray had set up and office overlooking the designers workshop with a large window overlooking it. It was meant for them to relax in and be able to keep an eye on their experiments, but it was going to work as a good place to see the process when [member="Cathul Thuku"] arrived. He had a small assortment of finger foods and drinks set out for her. He had his companies focus on customer satisfaction along with quality of products, so this was to be expected. He just sat there was he watched and waited.

Cathul feels uncomfortable traveling all the way to First Order space, that is, to WESTAR's headquarters on Annaj, and she had no patients there. Therapy in that hex was handled mostly by the Ewoks on the forest moon of Endor, and she left patients scrambling to find therapists elsewehere in Mandalorian space (meaning Alderaan or Wayland) or later spots for those who couldn't leave Mandalore. One has to say, Ewoks' lovability can be a little abused by patients, and their methods of therapy were a little unorthodox. Cathul had little love for research, and, while she loved her field trip on Endor, she hated all the time away from the patient that she would need to spend to do research. As a baat'kaysh she would infuriate all too many patients - and it's a lot, a loooooooooooooot easier to find a physiotherapist or a speech-language pathologist on Mandalore than a psychotherapist, even though all these professions are included in the baat'kaysh label. The patients in that week's timeslot would be infuriated. Now that she arrived in the office on Annaj, she got her measurements taken by someone - or something, while the beskar was being taken into a furnace nearby, just awaiting said measurements for it to be shaped and, from there the silicar.

"Before I ask, you probably remember that "free therapy for life or its equivalent in credits or other implements" was the agreed-upon price. One may be wondering how many therapy sessions does that mean to you so that I may prepare alternative means of payment"

As soon as [member="Cathul Thuku"] arrived at Annaj, which was NOT in First Order space or even Galactic Alliance who's territory was just as close by, his designers took a quick body scan of her to get a basis from. They would need to do a more thorough measurement though here soon, but for now they just focused on getting the beskar started as it took time to get the beskar bars into working shape. She would be lead into the office by an employee, who was sure to be as polite as possible.

Once she was in the office, Gray stood up and held his hand out. He smiled to her but before he could say anything she starting going on about payment and the likes. He could feel she was irritated, but there was nothing he could do about that. He just kept smiling as he lowered his hand and said, " The price in credits will be roughly 10,000. Beskar is not a cheap material and even if I own Raxis Independent Designs and WESTAR both, the silicar still needs to be paid for if at a cheaper rate. The other aspect is paying all of these fine designers for their hard work. They are Mandalorian after all and know how to work with nearly every material including beskar. So with all of that said the armor is not cheap, but we make sure you get your credit's worth."

Gray had one of his designers walk over and whisper something in his ear then nod before leaving. He turned his attention back the Cathul and said, " They got a quick scan when you walked in, but they need to have a much more thorough one for your bodyglove to be made. If you would not mind follow Mrs. Vos over there, she will show you to the area you can get stripped down so the scanner droid can take your measurements. It will be completely private and all data confidential I promise you." He pointed to a woman in her thirties with chestnut hair standing by the door leading to the designer's workshop. She smiled and bowed slightly to the woman as she waited for her to join her.

For some reason Cathul thought that the First Order was already in the Endor hex, after all, with the First Order being just one hex away and the Alliance consolidating their space immediately around their capital, the First Order would capitalize in the southwest corner of the galaxy. Upon hearing that the actual equivalent in credits of buying that beskar'gam was ca. 10k credits, that would have meant about 20 sessions at 500 credits apiece. And 20 sessions would be drained up in about a year or two. Ewok therapists were cheaper: they usually charge 80-120 credits/session rather than the 250-500 that she charged. While the beskar was being brought to the proper temperature for working, Cathul followed one Mrs. Vos where she would be taken to a room where she could be stripped down so that a scanner droid (much like those they use at spaceport security) could take her measurements. Also, she knew that WESTAR was not the kind of company to use likenesses of their clients for the purposes of doing stuff like holoporn or something like that. They made weapons and armor using materials such as phrik and beskar, speaking of which the technicians were connected to the scanner droid systems so that they were readying themselves for the moment where the beskar was ripe for being extracted from the furnace.

"Mrs. Vos, where do I put my clothing once in the room?"

[member="Gray Raxis"]

Mrs. Vos smiled to [member="Cathul Thuku"] the whole time she was showing her to the private room. She was eventually asked about a place to put the stripped clothing, to which she replied, " You may hand me your clothing if you wish Ms. Thuku or I can go find you one of our smaller bins we keep armorweave samples in. An empty one of course but it will be perfectly clean. We pride ourselves on professionalism in the workplace. Also if there is anything else you might need just let me know. Alor Raxis was adamant that we do everything we can for you." She just waited for the reply so she knew what to do next.

Gray looked out at the forge as he waited for Cathul to finish with her measurements. His company made arms and armor for a living, but it would not have been too hard for him to take the data from the scan and sell it off to someone who worked in the holoporn and adult hologame industry. But that was something that would never happen of course. He would never betray someone's trust and privacy by doing so. As tempting as it was though seeing how popular twi'lek females were across the galaxy and with a certain individual whos name may or may not start off with a V. For now he just had to wait though as he watched them get all of the parts for the utility feature all out and sorted. When the measurements were done, then the armor would be in full swing in it's creation.

"All right, I'll hand your clothing over"

With her clothes now taken off, Cathul had a scanner droid hovering in all directions around her, taking the Fourier transforms of her likeness so that it can spit out measurements that computers can process and, in turn, be usable for beskar forging. She experienced firsthand the popularity of Twi'lek females on Dagobah, where she was invited to many parties alongside any Zeltron girls; she was the only Twi'lek around campus at the time. And Ando Prime... where she was the most expensive exotic dancer on the planet. That particular person whose name began by V was actually scheduled for a visit on Mandalore but he was a no-show. While the likenesses of WESTAR products were used in the making of adult hologames and holoporn, said products were made by companies WESTAR never dealt with, and never had any requests for permission or received orders from them. Now that the measurements were almost completely taken, the technicians could take the beskar out of the furnace. And she could reach for the clothes.

The designers got all of the measurements they needed and went straight to work getting the beskar forged into the right sizes and the silicar shaped as well. Mrs. Vos had taken [member="Cathul Thuku"] and walked out of the room to give her enough privacy to have her measurements taken while all of this went on. As the scan was finished and it was time to bring Cathul her clothing back to her, a lab assistant walked by with a beaker full of high grade acid. They tripped as they moved far too quickly to their work area dealing with another project, and it got all over Cathul's clothing. Mrs. Vos had to drop it immediately to avoid being harmed as well and watched in horror as the clothes were completely destroyed by the acid.

Mrs. Vos said through the door in a slightly paniced voice as the acid spill was contained and dealt with, " Uhm Ms. Thuku, we have a slight problem. There was a bit of an accident and all of your clothes are sadly........gone. We will find you some replacements right away, but in the mean time it would be best if you did not leave the room. That is unless you are fine being seen by everyone here of course......" She then waited to hear back knowing it would not go over well.

Gray was watching as the beskar and silicar was being shaped to the right thickness and size to be put in alternating layers for the armor. He heard a commotion start up by the private room, and looked over that way. He frowned slightly and headed over to check it out. As he got there he heard what Mrs. Vos had to say to Cathul and see the results of it. He burst out in a peel of laughter and walked over to the door. He knocked on it and said as it remained closed, " I do apologize for this, but it really was an accident. We have your measurements so I will send some of our more fashion oriented people to go find you a replacement set of clothing for the one you lost and another pair to go with it. All on the house of course. Until then you are free to wait in that room or we can find you a blanket and you can wait in the lounge. Either way, I would be more than happy to keep you company." He said that last line in a tone that revealed it was a joke.....hopefully. He then gave the orders for them to immediately find new clothing for his customer. This turned out to be more interesting than expected.

"I'll stay in that room. I'll probably wear my beskar'gam from time to time especially if I have aggressive sociopaths in my schedule but from what my patients can tell, even with the proper set of measurements, it can take a few days or so especially if you layer silicar underneath it"

Seeing in horror that the acid destroyed a set of clothing, of which she didn't have that many, Cathul would probably welcome some clothes that would be common on Annaj; they wouldn't be as common in Mandalorian land. For therapy, she would probably wear that new set of clothing while that beskar'gam would be used on raids, dominions and whatnot. But with that new set of clothing, she would still be easily recognizable. Everyone and their dog on Mandalore would still recognize her regardless although she is a complete unknown on Annaj or in nearby First Order space. Nevertheless, she can hear the clanking of beskar-on-beskar as her beskar'gam is being made in a room below the scanning room, and the beskar layers are being hammered into shape to fit the measurements taken in that very room.

[member="Gray Raxis"]

Gray listened to what [member="Cathul Thuku"] had to say and then replied back, " Right, well then feel free to stay in there for as long as you need to. The forging will take a few hours, but it will be done completely and properly in that time. I don't know when your clothing will arrive, but it might take a bit as Annaj is rather populated." He then walked back to the lounge room. He still found it hilarious that some acid had destroyed her clothing, but at least it wasn't in a far worse situation. I doubt she would have taken it well if all she had to stand behind was a curtain and it somehow got destroyed as well. Either way, what was done was done now. So he just went to wait out the process in the room.

After about three hours they returned with her new set of clothing. It was taken to her by Mrs. Vos, but they were missing any form of undergarments. They had forgotten them in their hurry it seems. So she now had her clothing back and if she looked out into the forge she would see all of the beskar plates and silicar plates were sized properly and beginning to be layered together into the proper thicknesses. They even began moving into shaping the helmet to fit her properly with all of the electronic components added to it. Off in one of the corners a designer was getting the armorweave and silicar lining into the proper sizes to be fitted together and then sealed. Everything was being done swiftly yet effectively for getting the armor created.

After a few more hours, Gray was informed the armor was ready. He smiled at the news and went over to where ever Cathul had ended up after her clothes arrived. He said to her, " It seems everything is finished. How about you go try it on and give it a feel? I know they would enjoy seeing you in it after all of their work." He just smiled and waited to see what she did. Now would be the best time to figure out if anything was wrong or needed a tweak. However it likely would be ready to go as they had taken their time getting everything set up before hand.

Now that the construction of her beskar'gam was completed, and that she had something that looked like what her patients would wear. That, even though she would be more likely to be using it without a helmet in the confines of her clinic as a ward against physical aggression patients would be tempted to commit than as an actual battle implement. That being said, most of her patients were NFUs and had a lot more equipment than she did as a result. Many baat'kayshs, especially those who were physical therapists and occupational therapists, were instead opting for armorweave outfits over a beskar'gam (and hers was almost a beskar'kandar). And the technicians that worked on the beskar'gam saw her with it by now... with the set of clothes that sits next to it.

"Ah, it feels good to finally be able to do the same stuff my patients do on the regular. And to have a beskar'gam that actually fits my body. Sure, in a pressurized cockpit I wouldn't wear a beskar'gam, or with most patients, but it will make me even better with the PTSD crowd if I experience what can cause a patient to have it for myself"
