Ford lacks a temper. He can be pushed beyond the breaking point of most men. His “dumb grin” in the face of hardship, normally brightens the moods of others.
Ford has a small and naive heart. He is always willing to help, even if means he comes of it second best. He believes that everybody deserves a fair chance, and that everybody can make a change for the better. Ford gets along with most people, but his over friendliness is sometimes gets him in trouble.

Early Life
Ford was born to John and Arwin Darkling on the planet Vestar. He had two siblings, a brother named Donovan which was two years older than him and a sister, L’May six years younger. The Darkling’s lived in one of the large jungles of the planet and were as such brought up with very little technology. The area the Darkling’s decided to settle into many years before they ever had kids, was a quiet and seclude area, away from all the mainstream business and ship lines.
The remote location’s primary residences were Wookies, with a hand full of Humans families. As such, Ford could understand the Wookie’s roar before he could speak the native tongue.
From a young age Ford and his younger sister L’May showed both showed sensitivity towards the force pulling objects off tables and getting up to mischief. Their eldest brother on the other hand, never displayed any force sensitivity. The force sensitivity came from their mothers side, Arwin, who was force sensitive, but hid it from the world, due to the Sith danger spreading through the galaxy.
Ford made good friends with one of the Wookie locals, Tabak. They spent hours a day, chasing each other up trees and across rivers on vines. One of their favourite past times was hunting. Ford did not have the speed or claws to physically attack prey, so he trained himself to use a native bow.
Although Ford’s mother did not want her children to use the force, she decided that because Ford and L’May were force sensitive, they needed to learn to control it, and gave basic training to the best of her abilities. His mother also believed that the art of handling a sword could one day serve them well, and as such Ford and his sister practiced the art of Makashi, getting detailed instructions and lessons from their mother. It was a style of sword play she had mastered years before their birth when she was a Padawan. Because of the Sith threat, Arwin made her children practice with tradition fencing swords, and did not introduce them to the Jedi’s weapon of choice, the lightsaber, to stay under the radar.
Donovan, their elder brother, saw the training a waste of his time, and hardly ever took part. Although Ford loved the train and learn the art, as soon as he was giving an opportunity, he would disappear into the jungles with Tabak and stay out for days at a time.
Teenage life
When Ford turned 14, his father was offered a job on an orbital shipyard, orbiting Selonia. The family did not have much, and John wanted more for his family, so he decided to leave the planet and try to improve their situation. Donovan jumped at the opportunity and left with their father, with hopes of seeing the galaxy.
Six years later, news came of an attack aboard the shipyard his father and brother were stationed on. It was said that his father was killed and his brother seriously injured in the attack. Ford took it on himself to travel to Selonia and bring his brother home. Tabak promised to look after his life friend’s mother and sister till he returned home. Ford had heard stories about how rough the galaxy had become, and how the Empire had taken control of most of the systems, but put his fears behind him, to save his brother. As Ford boarded the transport ship to take him to Selonia, his mom ran up to him, hugged him and placed her curved hilt lightsaber into his hand. Ford had never seen a lightsaber before, and didn’t really know what the hilt was supposed to be, so he just smiled and kissed his mom goodbye, while he placed the unknown device in his pack.
Ford was met with a culture shock as he arrived on the orbital shipyard. There were dozens of species he had never seen or even heard about. On arrival, he was quickly ushered off to the administration office, against his protests to see his brother. The head administer of the shipyard handed Ford two DL-44 Heavy Blaster pistols and the rights to an Astromech Droid named R4-Q7 which had belonged to his father. Ford reluctantly signed for the goods as he awaited word on his brother. Ford was shocked when his brother walked into the room, alive and well. He jumped up to greet his brother, but felt himself fly across the room and crash into a cupboard. As Ford struggled to his feet, he saw a red energy beam extend from a device his brother was holding. That was the last thing Ford saw before he fell to the floor once again.
As Ford laid face down in a pool of blood, he saw his brother say something to the Head Administrator. He could not make out what was said, due to the beeping and whining of the Astromech droid. As the others left the room, the Astro droid rolled over towards Ford and extended an arm. Six days later Ford awoke aboard a rebellion ship, in their sickbay.
Ford had received two major lacerations across his chest, but the doctors were able to save him. Ford later learnt that the Astromech droid had dragged him to the ship, after they arrived to re-enforce the security of the shipyard. Ford was grief-stricken by what had happed, and too embarrassed to return home without his brother. He spent the next few years searching for his brother and an answer to what had happened.

JEDI CLOAK
Ford normally wears a Black Jedi hooded robe, with a black combat type trouser, and black body hugging long sleeve top under the robe. Ford prefers the combat trousers over the more traditional loose pants, due to the leg holsters he wears.
DUAL LEG HOLSTER
Ford wears a custom leg holster, which allows him to carry a blaster on each thigh. The holster has an attachment on the back to hold his lightsaber.

Ford carries two standard DH-44 Heavy Blasters he inherited from his father. Although he is force sensitive, he still prefers his blasters.
CURVED HILT LIGHTSABER
Curved hilt lightsaber, given to Ford by his mother, Arwin, when he left his home planet - Vestar.
DROID
Astromech Droid – R4-Q7. A black and silver droid Ford inherited from his father after he passed away. The droid saved Ford’s life after he was attacked by his brother.
