For the love of all things Gallofree

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dShR9VrzG4

In a bar called Avalon Bryce sat playing his guitar. It has been a while since he had played and the stings felt good beneath his fingers. With his now surgically modified hand he pressed on the strings while with his other, pick in hand plucked the notes of the song he was playing. He played to remember where he had been, played for those lost and those who would be found.

Today was a bitter sweet days for Bryce, he had come to a conclusion. One of his pride and joys was soon to be gone if all went will. It was a necessary evil or sorts. He had bigger responsibility now, and running a company of that size as no longer feasible. He hopes to soon be joined by the lovely [member="Mara D'Lessio Merrill"] , the multi-casomthing heir would be a good caretaker for the ship manufacturing company.

So with a frosty brew by his side he played an owed to his love, and wished her well should they soon part.

[member="Bryce Bantam"] had rescued her on Elysian, and that was one good reason to take this meeting. Her other reason was more complicated.

The station bar's ambience washed over Mara in a comfortable way. She sighed happily, noting the profusion of nonhumanoid aliens around.

"Focus," her chief of staff murmured, guiding Mara toward Bryce. Eiarra Denirel was a Master of the Force in her own quiet way, and she looked it: an austere middle-aged Chalactan in business casual. The two marks of enlightenment embedded in the bone of her forehead and the bridge of her nose might pass as unusual piercings out here.

Mara and Denirel sat down opposite Bryce. "Hi, Master Bantam," said Mara. "How's things?"

"I'm doing well Lady Merrill, thank you for taking this meeting. I know a woman such as yourself has many demands of her time so I thank you for carving out some for me. That said I will make this brief, I'm finding I can no longer guide Gallofree and attend to my other duties. So I have been looking for a good caretaker for it. Now I know the credits will not be an issue for you but some of the other items may be and wanted to talk with you on those more. Here is the list, please let me know your thoughs on it so we can proceed."

:: ... 1000 credits per share to equal three hundred and thirty nine million credits and 90% of the companies outstanding shares.
Bryce would slide a data slate over to her to review. As she did Bryce would take a deep drink of his cold beverage before turning his attention back to his guitar and continue his soft tribute.

Mara glanced at the datapad and passed it to Denirel.

“The valuation sounds more than reasonable,” said the Chalactan. "The confidentiality and the geltabs are straightforward enough. The battlecruiser is worth ten times what you've asked for the company, but we can look into options."

"I have something in mind," said Mara. "The Remembrance is a solid ship, old or not, but I've got my eye on a few equivalents. It'll take me a little while. Also the ship might be… gently used by the time I get my hands on it. In theory, would you accept equivalent value in smaller ships - frigates, heavy cruisers?”

"The size is the most important thing." Bryce said stopping his song.

"The condition of it is really meaningless to me. I need it to be large, the larger the better and from what I could tell of your assets this would be the best fit. However now that your mention it, strong ships of a combine equal or greater size can work. I will need them linked when delivered, attached to a small station or something like that would work. If you can't get me the Remembrance then comparable ships physically linked would work. If you can deliver the secondary option then we would have a deal."

Finishing his drink Bryce went back to a new more romantic tune as he waited on [member="Mara D'Lessio Merrill"] 's reply.

"One week and it's yours," said Mara promptly. "I'm not sure yet what form it'll take. Like I said, still looking at options."

A server finally rolled up; Mara and Denirel ordered drinks. Mara watched the Bor Gullet waiter saunter off. She blushed faintly and refocused on Bryce.

"I've glanced over the specs for some of Gallofree's unique offerings. Can you tell me about this liquid metal tech, and these wedge shields of yours?"

"The Liquid metal is a product of the Resu, their main export in fact. To be honest I have barely scratched the service of the stuff, but I can tell you a few things. First off stuff is the only superconductor I have found that is stable at room temperature. So all those advance cooling systems to get super fast transmission speeds are out the window. Poodoo is efficient also, less than .0001 percent loss over 1000 meters. Another unique side effect is when you combine them with the Resu navigators. When they are physically toughing the stuff they can feel through it. Any system linked to it they can feel, like it was an extension of themselves."

"As for the wedge shields, they are unique in the gravametric forces they use. Basically they to not weaken like deflector shields but they are not complete as them either. They can basically bend matter and partials either away from your ship or extend the range of your weapons by focusing them. It is only a percentage based on layers and range. Not a complete shield system by any means but as an additional means defense they are very useful."

"One week will work you tell me the place and the time, just one more thing though. The station they will be attached to, that must be part of the deal, and the station and all vessels are to be abandoned save for maintenance droids. I want so sentient no where near it ok?"

"Make the place we exchange these ships a secluded, out of the way. Can you do this?"

[member="Mara D'Lessio Merrill"]

[member="Bryce Bantam"]

"No sentients, middle of nowhere, easy. Whatever I wind up bringing you - station, battlecruiser, smaller ships all together - will be there in one week, and no questions asked. That about cover it?"

Force, but this was gonna get interesting. Mara exchanged inscrutable glances with Denirel. Their drinks arrived; Mara took a long sip and set down her mug.

"Looking forward to playing with these gravimetric shields of yours. What kind of stunts have you pulled with them so far?"

(Later, a week to be precise, three uncrewed ships would exit hyperspace at a predetermined point in deep space. All three were Mandalorian cruisers, all battered and ripped but flyable. The first was a blindingly quick Merr-Sonn JBC Reconaissance Cruiser, seven hundred metres in length, with blood all over its bridge. The latter two were old Harbinger-class carriers with scorch marks all around their hangar bays. Each weighed in at eight hundred fifty meters. The total main-axis meterage of the unmanned flotilla was considerably longer than the battlecruiser Bryce had requested, and the three ships massed just as much. So far as Mara was concerned, her side of the deal was complete.)

Bryce was not alone when Mara brought her unmanned ships out of hyperspace. Along side "Zero" flew a ship few outside the Outback would have recognized, a Tahree-class command cruiser. As Mara's delivery came to dock upon an abandoned mining station Bryce ordered Zero to intercept the ship carrying Mara so the can complete their transaction.

As he did anyone watching would see the Command cruiser would instead make way to the delivered capital ships. As the command vessel approached only a single shuttle would depart and land on the abandoned station.

"Mara, glad to see you are so punctual. My associates are reviewing your delivery for final approval. Till then can I invite you aboard "Zero", it would give you a chance to see some of the tech you are buying in action"

First thing out of her mouth when she came through the Zero's airlock: "The feth kind of ship is this? I've never seen its model. Gorgeous."

The purplish hull struck her as deeply alien, aerodynamic, art deco: almost Naboo, if Naboo made real warships. Maybe it was a common ship type in the Coalition. Admittedly, she'd been away for a long time.

"To tell the truth, I'm almost more interested in this boat than what you're going to do with the cruisers."

Bryce beamed with pride over Mara's remark.

"Zero is unique, there has not been one of her kind in nearly eight hundred years. If you want I can give ya the checkle tour. We have a bit of time before they are ready over there."

As Bryce talked his hand would move across the inner hull of the ship. As it did the smooth gray walls would like on blue ton like that of a warm summer sky. Being an impath she would also feel a presence to the ship. Maybe not full sentient but close.
